The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Amsterdam in honour of original publican Gibson who is finally back in gainful employment. One small step for man ...
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of former Corso Marauder Lawrence Dallaglio or young ice hockey prize winner (thanks to the v2ers) Chris Boyd.

Yeah, Djokovic is growing into it a bit more, watching with the TV hooked up to the laptop, super quality. Unreal. Super shot by Murray to go 15-0 up in set game for Djokovic.

One of my lads who I said were imperative to the future of Irish soccer, a genuine talent and one of the reasons I want Trap gone (he will waste him) scored a screamer for the Irish U-21s tonight. I do talk sense the odd time would you believe. 2-2 in tiebreak.

RD, that's proof there is talent in Ireland and why it's cruical that Trap gets the feic out of here! He doesn't watch the players in either England or Ireland, has been here 4 years and doesn't know a lick of English he doesn't give 2 shoites about Ireland.
The proof is also there that there's talent in the LOI whic he and the FAI ignore. 5 starters for their friendly tomorrow are ex-LOI.
We're getting some super stuff in this tiebreak!

tough breaks in the footy T, how long's Trap got to go on his contract?
Tie-break is amazing, but I am soo tired. Got to see after this if the internet works well enough upstairs so I can listen to it while half asleep. We shall see......
Going to sign off here in case having to many windows open slows it down!

The world cup qualifying campaign ( we won't make it with him there) the FAI followed in the glorious footsteps of the IRFU by giving a contract extension before a mahjor tournament.

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
Rory McIlroy is a wonderful ambassador for his sport and to have reached World No. 1 at such a young age is both inspiring and incredible. With his success comes massive pressure with the worlds media watching his every move.
How sad it is then that he has been forced to write this letter having been pressed to state whether he will declare for Team GB or Team Ireland for the 2016 Olympics. Of course it will be a very difficult decision and no doubt will be swathed in controversy once made.
My wish is that these people give the young man space to get on with his career and life without the burden of this. It's four years away FFS.

The BBC have also go in on the act as per:

For those that are still up... morning here.
I had a coffee spill before where the coffee formed a low flat bubble... giving me just enough time to grab the sponge before the bubble burst on the african styled rug under the coffee table.
Major disaster averted...
G'nite Gibbo... sweet dreams of Boris Johnson
Nail biting final. C'mon Andy!

Morning all. Well done Andy Murray. I can bet Dreamer has his pic ready for the next Pub already. Has to be in in Dunblane. Which will also be remembered for something a lot nicer now.
Now he has broken his duck... who knows? Its great. He so deserves it after all the heart-break.

I think the coffee's going to be very popular this morning as it looks as though a few people were up late watching the tennis this morning. I think having Lendl in his corner has made a lot of difference to Murray. I'd like to hear some of the conversations between them though, seeing as though they're both such happy people.

Bore da pawb / good morning all, it's a beautiful morning here on the docks.
So pleased for Andy Murray - although I was slightly confused when they interviewed some of the Brits in the audience and one of them said Murray had finally got the 'camel off his back'.

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
Good morning all. Today is the second day of the last week of my Masters degree. Never thought I'd want to work so hard on something as I do this. Just want to do a great job on it. Then on Friday night, after everything is handed in, I can go to Ravenhill with Rava and Stag with not a care in the world. Until Monday.
Made up for Andy Murray. But can I just say, as a Northern Irish and Irish sports fan, how proud I am of Rory McIlroy for this open letter? I think it just oozes class how he's addressed a very difficult topic. No-one should begrudge him a free choice in this matter after reading that.

It's times like these I wish I liked coffee....
Morning all, stayed up right to the end listening to the tennis on 5 live where I had to navigate some earphone malfunctions but I got there!). Unreal match, the rallies were epic, am going to have to get my hands on some highlights to watch.
I've been supporting Andy Murray in tennis since I was 17, 8 blydi years of heartbreak watching him, so along with the Olympics I am just so SO chuffed for him that he's finally made this breakthrough. What a guy.

How's this for a bit freaky:
Fred Perry won his first grand slam, It was the US Open. It was on September 10th. He was the third seed, playing the second seed who was the current Australian Open Champion.

Fair play to him, Notch. I see no reason why he can't be proud of being both Irish and British - and when he comes to choose who to represent at the Olympics, that shouldn't change things.
And good luck with the Masters, which is a bit of a cliche but I mean it sincerely.

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
For Andy Murray!
Fantastic achievement. Watched up until the end of the 4th and it looked like Djock was going to nick it despite looking like he was tiring. Some awesome play by both players in that 4th. There was a 30 shot rally, won by Murray, that was as good as any point I've ever seen.
Must have been some effort by Murray to dig in and win the 5th as he looked to be crumbling mentally and physically in the 3rd and start of the 4th.
The world is Murrays oyster now. No reason why he can't go on and win numerous slams now over the next few years and be world no 1.
A word for Djock too, who is simply a machine. Staggering achievement by Murray to beat him on his favourite surface.
Awesome awesome awesome.

Thanks lucky! Really appreciated. Just arrived back into my own house and having some breakfast before i get back into it- have been sleeping at a friends house because I left the skylight above my bed wide open in the Belfast rain.
Hopefully the mattress has dried out enough now for me to sleep in my own bed tonight, but seriously- with the weeks that in it for me you couldn't make it up
Have a good one guys!

Mrs. Penfro you are so right about Lendl. Murry has added a steeliness to his game and it showed. Only once did I visibly see his shoulders drop, but then he lifted his head again and you could see he "knew" he could win that match, even when Djokovic was putting him through the ringer during the third and fourth set.
I agree with Gibson, he could go on to win a few more now with the monkey off his back.
Notch, I commented and posted a link to that McIlroy letter last night. Unfortunately there will be those that won't sit back and let him make his decision in his own time.
Morning again everyone. Sunny in Belfast.

On a lighter note, Andy Murray is a hero.
Watching his reaction to the win last night I honestly don't think he could believe it happened, he will win more of that I'm sure. He has the inner belief now and that won't go away and its all thanks to Ivan. That man has brought the best out of Andy and ling may it continue.

Morning all
What a performance from Andy Murray last night. Just watching him being interviewed and have to say that over the past year my view of him has completely changed. He has been humble but sure of his ability without coming across as cocky. A real champion. Absolutely chuffed for him.
Jayzus Sports Personality of the Year is going to be a tough call this year!!!

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
It's great people are realising just what a great guy Andy Murray is. I think for years they had the image of his bratty 18 year old self and couldn't seem to shake it. He's been like this for about 4 years now, just so glad he's getting the recognition and of course getting that all important Slam win.
SPOTY is going to be mental this year but for me I can't look past Wiggins. We've never had a British man even on the podium before so to actually win the TdF, arguably the hardest thing to do in the sporting world....incredible. So many to choose from though. What a summer of sport

He doesn't turn in on himself when things go against him, which he used to do. If that's all Ivan Lendl has added, it's made such a huge difference. Now it's down to his opponent to beat him because he won't beat himself, if that makes sense.
Ozzy, that's exactly what I thought this morning when I heard he'd won!
