The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Amsterdam in honour of original publican Gibson who is finally back in gainful employment. One small step for man ...
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of former Corso Marauder Lawrence Dallaglio or young ice hockey prize winner (thanks to the v2ers) Chris Boyd.

I know it's been yonks since we've spoken! How are you? and how was your summer away? The pics on fbook looked ace
And I'm v good ta. Am back home at the mo and for the forseeable future. After a couple of wobbly weeks have settled back here really well, tis amazing what a difference being stress free can do! and ha don't know about the journalist ladder, just writing because it interests me. I'd forgotten how much writing I used to do when I was back home before, just really happy I'm getting back into the swing of it

oo diolch Rava and Asbo for the info too. Not sure how much use it'll be to me when I'm back in the village*, but when I'm in places with enough signal, twill be a help
*It's most annoying. I can get 2 bars signal on my phone in my room if I place it just so on my bedside table. Can't pick it up or owt. But then I can go check it in half hour, exact same place, no signal. Pain in the backside.

Afternoon all. Back in work today after the wedding. Flipping ruined me getting up at half four to drive back. Worse than that, I have to head straight from the clash of the two Cardiff regions (Dragons v Blouse) to Brize to fly on a little trip on Saturday. Going to be a long day is that.

Yeah, it cost me for the iphone aye. I wouldn't have paid for it, but I read it wrong and assumed it was in the free apps. Worth it now I have it though.

If ever there was a misleading headline:
"Munster Players Contribute Handsomely To Charity"
In reality - Munster players JJ Hanrahan and Tommy O'Donnell contributed handsomely to UL Bohemians win over Young Munster in the final of the Limerick Charity Cup on Saturday.

The pictures do not lie. It was an incredible time. Both good and bad bits. Bad in that we paid a bribe and I was really annoyed at that. Good in that it is a beautiful place with stunning people and I got to spend time with lots of gorgeous children.
Have you got any significant plans for the coming months?

Are you able to use Skype at home RD? Or is the village boadband free too?
(yes I am fishing for someone to fill in for Ozzy on the Podcast this week )

Ah well that's good Munsty. I reckon you need the good and bad bits to make something really worthwhile (if that makes sense). What was the bribe about though? (if you don't mind me asking)
I have plans aye but not really significant ones.
First step is to pass my driving test (figners crossed that should be done next month sometime) then who knows. Just trying to save money at the moment. Plus I've got so many things planned over the next month or so, I've only really got November free and then I'm busy again (mainly rugby stuff) until Feb. I just don't get where the time is going!
Kiwi - I've broadband yep, but I've not tried using Skype since moving back home. What evening were you looking to do the podcast?

For our visas Dreamer. And we didn't even get them till our placement was finished. I honestly felt disgusted when I realised. To be part of the problem that destroys government in those countries is a horrible feeling.

We're trying for Wednesdays . Hopefully 7ish this week (as Sky have stuffed up my home broadband so I'll be staying late at work)
I just stood outside and watched the Olympic parade come past the office. Masses of people, incredible atmosphere out there.

Hi All,
Long time no chat.
I’ve been noodling about with a stat’s spreadsheet thing for the pro12 for the last few months, the original one didn’t do much, just give an indication of who was scoring for each team, not ground breaking or particularly useful, but I recently figured out how to import stats from scrum.com into it so it’s taken on a slightly more useful dimension.
Basically it’s an excel spreadsheet with 4 tabs, one is for fixtures and results, one is the league table, one is a player stat archive and one is an input sheet. Every week I go to the stat’s page on scrum.com and import stats for all 12 teams in the league for that particular game week, the fixtures and results page pulls the scores out of the input and then updates the league table and the player database.
It took a few hours to set up but the plan is that once it’s set up the weekly input is minimal (15 mins or so) and it can be updated to fit any league that scrum.com provide stats for.
If anyone is interested in taking it off me and collecting the stats for the prem (or even Top14) just send me a PM and I’ll mail it on to you with the basic instructions on how to set it up and keep it running.

That's ace work Mick I'd not have a clue how to even attempt to set up something like that.
Pete - aha phew, and don't be so sure about the dulcet tones! I've gotten a fair bit more Welsh sounding apparently since moving back home. Added to that I speak super quick, most people probably won't understand me!

Just on a 25 minute turnaround in dorking at the minute, I do like it down this way. All very peaceful and green.
Stark contrast in the weather from yesterday. It's fricking grim today
As, we still good for Sunday??

Re: The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
It may have been the "smart" thing to do but that doesn't make it right and doesn't make me not part of the problem. It's like spitting in the face of all the decent hard working Tanzanians who struggle to make ends meet.
I remember getting a taxi one day out to school and the driver was telling us, due to the heavy ran outside and the flooding parts of the road, how the water used to stream down to the sea but since a group of rich people had paid to get past planning stuff, they had built houses down by the sea and cut off that stream so it meant serious flooding in areas where people lived and their businesses.
We didn't know about the bribe we paid until we saw the receipt from our visas but it takes people to stand up, even at what might seem to be small issues to make a difference and in this situation, and I think I had an idea, I certainly didn't make a difference and contributed to the corrupt nature of the government in Tanzania.

Ah I probably haven't explained the situation well, but I will do another time. Not as dramatic as I'm making it out to be. I'll stop beating myself up about it and feeling sorry for myself and get the house ready for my ex-housemates who are coming around tonight.

Welcome to Life Munsty. You lose so many ideals along the way. In those places, as Asbo says, preservation is 1st priority. Morals come a very solid Last. Its like Irish corruption, only more lower-level, honest and up-front, imo. Their Govs are rampantly corrupt, so they don't get much example there. Could have been worse, you could have been in Nigeria.

I seen that gibbo, I would be more looking at flying the Saturday than the Friday. However that is not set in stone.
Housemate got back to me, 27 pound a night for the hotel
Each? 54 quid for two nights is great. That would be grand my man. Take it. Is it in the Centre Ville?
Fair enough on Sat in and Mon out. We'll stick to it.
Tickets, we need Seorse to get us the ticeaide. I'll ring him tonight
No Gibbo 27 pound for the room per night, so 27 pound each for the two nights. Sound ill get him to book it tomorrow
That's excellent bud. You am da man.

He said breakfast is not included so if we want breakfast in the hotel it might be a bit more expensive but not to worry to much because he gets discounted breakfast as well
