The Corso Marauders Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Amsterdam
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Amsterdam in honour of original publican Gibson who is finally back in gainful employment. One small step for man ...
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of former Corso Marauder Lawrence Dallaglio or young ice hockey prize winner (thanks to the v2ers) Chris Boyd.

Never mind Hugbert and Gibbo. The shirt you both own is far far greater than that and was worn by a true legend of the game.

Afternoon peeps.
I just read back and the latest odds on SPOTY are:-
Wiggins 6/5
Murray* and Farah 5/1
Ennis 10/1
McIlroy is way out at 150/1
* Murray, possibly at those odds because his win is the latest event.
And the Lions' coaching are scheduled to be announced next month.

Posters host the 'pub threads' for that. They contain all the same people and are usually quite dull conversations. I think the rugby forum is fine.

I dipped into one of them 'pub threads' once, by accident. Didn't have a clue what the hell was going on. Made one rather witty comment (hypocrites/booing/penalty kicks) and got set upon by two Welsh birds and a bunch of Irish.
Was far too much like real life for my liking.
I always wondered what went on in here.

I suspect that often the conversations in the pub threads are between folks that have met in real life, so might well appear a little "real life" - however, I hope that any new bods that stop in for a drink ( ) are always made to feel welcome. So pull up a bar stool, Jen

1950s Joke alert!!!
Woman in her 40s comes back to cottage in Donegal to see her aul mammy after years in London.
Comes up the dirt track in her Rolls Royce and has the Chauffeur open the door for her etc.
After the pleasantries the mammy askes her how she has made all her money and done so well etc.
The woman tells her and she blesses herself and faints.
An hour later she comes round, has a cup of tea and sits quietly on a chair and says.
"So, tell me again what it is you did for a living?"
The woman tells her again......
The mammy says "Oooooh that's all right then, I thought you said you became a protestant"

Its interesting to see how other posters view the Pub. Man, it kinda pishes me off. Its OPEN to all. That's what its all about.
I suppose we do rabbit a bit between us. But, its banal enough for anyone to join in. So, if any of ye are reading this, stop lookin through the window and come in and have a pint.
P.S. Watch out for de Welsh Burds mind.
For Jen.

He's got a point about the myth of "respect for the kicker". See Parks last minute winning touch line conversion in 2010 and Halfpenny's kick to win the grand slam decider this year.

Evening all.
When Barkley was interviewed after the opener at Wuss, he was asked how he felt about all the jeering for his last minute, match winning penalty, he said it was fine and if anything he preferred the noise, he said that when an entire ground goes totally silent it can be quite off-putting as it's so "eerie".
Double-bluff or straight up? I'm not sure myself.
I don't know what that poster was moaning about regarding the "two Welsh birds", it couldn't have been all that, he got out alive for starters.

If anybody asks whether it's worth going to the match to see it live, I'll put forward this year's match in Dublin. If I was at home if have been floating, but seeing the look on the Irish fan's faces added a poignancy that at once elevated it to an almost literary experience, but at the same time earthed any surplus electricity. The handshakes were warmly given and gratefully received. You can't get that on the telly.

God that's an awful result Dreamer. Sorry, I wasn't being funny. Hadn't seen the score. Was watching Van Gaal change this team. He wont allow divisions in the side. If the stars don't do as they're told - they are dust. And they know it. It shows.
Was just thinking of Gary Speed there. He wouldn't have let that result happen. He was such a lovely, gracious, intelligent man. Good manager and a great player. What an awful waste of a sweet life.

The Dutch have had it with Spain, Greece & Portugal. Fed up paying for their corrupt & feckless ways. Ireland are escaping it, because it is paying its bills and towing the line now. But there is a Calvinistic backlash going down here. Their once famous tolerance is wearing thin. They will not budge on Greece, Spain or Portugal. NO more geld, until they show they are sorting it out. The Germans feel the same way.

Well "Another Thread" is right about the first bit i.e "a close batch of friends chatting...most of them have met in real life and stuff...", and to be fair, depending on when you read the pub threads and how much of it and how often, it must appear rather cliquey - it does to me sometimes, so maybe that's why it appears "local" to someone who doesn't know the individuals behind the posts. It does also generally tend to be the same people posting because most people post at particular times - so there are some who'll post when they're in work only cause they're busy in the evenings, and vice versa but that's good because it keeps it going. As for dull conversations, well maybe this person (who I think is an old familiar wummer in disguise to be honest) could make more of an effort and steer the conversation in the less dull direction instead of b!tching about it elsewhere? Afterall this whole forum is what the posters make it. You can't leave it all up to everyone else.
As far as I'm aware no one's ever been told where to go or given a hard time on these threads, quite the opposite. I personally can't recall the incident AT's referring to about the "two Welsh birds and a bunch of Irish". Perhaps the "one rather witty comment" was more of a WUM and upset a few people, or AT just didn't get the response they wanted? I don't know because like I said, I can't remember it.
To you Jennifer I'd say, stick around and see for yourself. I'm sure you're more than capable of making your own decisions and judgements.

As far as I know they move to your sent items once the receiver has opened them. Maybe Rava's got so many emails in his inbox now that it's moved to the bottom of the list and he hasn't seen it? Unless there was a problem with the emails at the time and it's not arrived. You'll have to ask him.
