Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
First topic message reminder :
Gloucester fans need somewhere to chat over a (an imagined) pint of Rucking Mole or Doombar.
Come on in fellas and ladies, take a seat.
Away fans welcome too.
What's happening then at GRFC & Kingsholm ?
Gossip, scuttlebutt, salacious rumour, even rubgy news - share it here.
Lord Leveson has not discovered 606, so you may speak easy here.
Seasonal mince pies & cognac available in nearby Gtown.
Merry Christmas to all our visitors.

HAZELL update
"Gloucester's Andy Hazell will appear before a European Rugby Cup disciplinary hearing following his red card against Mont de Marsan.
Following a request from Gloucester for a postponement, the hearing will take place on Thursday, 26 October..
Penalties for use of the hand, arm or fist range from a mimimum two-week suspension, with a mid-range ban of five weeks and a maximum of eight to 52 weeks. If the knee has been used, the lower end ban is three weeks, through an eight-week mid-range ban with 12 to 52 weeks the highest end of the scale. "

I'd say he'll get 10-12 weeks

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
You would have thought he'll be in the maximum scale for both offences, so I can see a 20 week ban coming here. He'll no doubt get some time off based upon his previous good record. Likewise, if he goes in and pleads guilty it'll help. Even so, I really can't see him playing again this year and my guess is he'll get 12-16 weeks. Based upon his conduct you can't argue with that at all.
But, it is dreadful that no other player has been cited. It is pretty clear something went on, but ultimately if the citing officer can't prove it there's not a lot you can do. I used to always get caught at school punching the person back, until I learnt the best way is to punch them first!

Did you only play rugby at school HKC?

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
HKC - an old tradition at Kingsholm:
" The following season (1921/22) was infamous for the number of footballers that were sent from the field by officials, 14 for fighting, seven for arguing, six for language and one for foul play. Leicester actually cancelled their Gloucester RFC fixture because of this. Around the mid 1920s the media began to refer to the club as the 'Red and Whites'. "
It was too much for the delicate Tigers, and I guess 'red & whites' refers to the plentiful first aid kits required back then.

Is that any way to speak to someone you love? Hang on, I'm not a fat lady am I?!...
In fairness to you HERSH I should have made it clear I was referring to school lessons rather than the sport. As it happens my career was curtailed only a few years after leaving school. I was just about to sign for Gloucester when I had a car accident leaving me with several screws and a plate in my knee. The Doctor told me that I couldn't play any high impact sports any more and my hopes were dashed... Or rather my career was ended, but there wasn't much of a career to end, I rarely made it out of any 2nd XV that I played

Not bad last night, billy burns is pretty impressive going forward and Tomasso had huge carries! Didn't realise how pacy Clark was either: gassed Cato from a standing start!!

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Clark is exceptionally fast isn't he. I'm not one for gym monkeys, but that really is the only question mark over him whether he'll ever be big enough. But in Sinbad, Sharples, May, Monahan and Clark we've got some excellent wingers.
I've only seen Billy Burns play a few times, but what I have seen has been very impressive. There could be some interesting brotherly rivalry going to take place soon!

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Saw Clark back in the summer 7's tournament. Man of the match(es) that night. Very quick of thought & fleet of foot. Slight guy maybe, but that did not seem to hinder little Shane over the Severn. Jonny May, Sharples very fleet and taller. Then vets like Monahan, Sinbad. V Exciting potential for Glaws wingers... but we must get the midfield sorted out to deliver quicker ball to the wingers ideally into some space. Too much kicking away sometimes. Billy 36 is a promising improvement to the midfield flow, plus Monhan 'comes in' to the centre which sharpens attack down the middle, tearing holes in defences. Good times ahead.

Gloucester Rugby:
Martyn Thomas; Charlie Sharples, Mike Tindall, Tim Molenaar, James Simpson-Daniel; Billy Twelvetrees, Jimmy Cowan; Dan Murphy, Huia Edmonds, Shaun Knight; Will James, Jim Hamilton (captain); Sione Kalamafoni, Akapusi Qera, Ben Morgan
Replacements:
Koree Britton, Nick Wood, Rupert Harden, Tom Savage, Matt Cox, Dan Robson, Tim Taylor, Rob Cook
Ball won't be going past centres then!! Anyone else going?

Yes 3 of us are going in our group.
Agree, wings like ours but we put HRH out there, who will bosh it up the middle and then go to ground. At lease Cowon is a class distributor, but will need to be quick on delivery from the rucks HRH will create. Wings could jump over the fence and sit down and relax with a hot chocolate until called for. ... which may not be too often.
Is Freddie injured ?

When the team was originally posted Burns was playing. I am presuming that as it has been changed without any mention that he's not injured but that it was just an error...
Hopefully we can mirror Irish's score against them

It will also be easy to spot Hersh.
Look for a guy in Bath colours cheering on Bordeaux.
He will have gone a bit quiet though by the 20 minute mark.

I'll take 35-12, but have a sneaky feeling it may be a bit more. I feel we're just starting to click as a team, the big performance may not be tonight (hopefully it'll be next week), but I can just see something happening tonight...

Freddie's tweet, "Game day for the boys. Gutted to be missing out again! #damnyouquad" makes me think he was meant to play but is injured.

Some massive hits going on in that Glos game! Cherry and Whites pack looked like they'd been on the raw meat diet.
Worrying how poor Taylor is though and how you lost all structore and momentum once Tins went off.
JSD looks 10 times the winger that Sharples is, shame he isn't younger...

Ah yappy, does the score sheet not reflect how Sharples played? How was 36 at fly half? I saw one of his kicks on the screen in the gym and he pulled it right, big time.

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Sharples was on the end of some lovely moves that came to his wing (2 created by JSD) but he made a bunch of mistakes and was fairly anonymous otherwise.
Twelvetrees kicking was poor, only got the simpler kicks, but he was very good at everything else so hopefully that was a blip. Defence and hands were great in the first half.

Re: Kingsholm Virtual Inn- come on in.
Well that was a load of rubbish. We got the 4 tries without really trying then just fell asleep. They seemed intent in the 2nd half of just having defence practice. I think we must have got into their 22 about 2 times in that half, yet we never really looked in trouble.
There were some big hits going in, but hopefully we've not paid the price. If K and Hamilton were to miss the Leicester game we'd be in trouble as its fair to say they've been the stand out forwards so far this season, along with Tom Savage.
Despite his glaring error not to pass to Sharples, Huia Edmonds had his best game for us. His lineout throwing was perfect and we really lost our shape when Britton came on. Britton really looks a prospect, but his throwing is very poor.
Sinbad was excellent once again. Every time he gets the ball you think something will happen and invariably it does! Sharples needs a run of games to build his confidence and form again.
All in all it was a poor game, but we picked up the 5 points, we've won 5 on the bounce, unbeaten in 7. It really could be a whole lot worse! I thought we might start to click last night, but we were way off. Nevertheless I still believe we're going to give some side a royal thumping some time soon...
