Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXVI
I have the same question actually Sod.
I actually really like the FB combination and also the fact that I have a Sevilla combo (with a Spanish and Argentine international as well).
But I get marked down for my defence, so need to work out where to improve to meet other people's ratings.
Personally on yours, I like your four, but there may be one or two less known names in there and that might be where the problem is?

I already know that people don't know who Britos is...
I like Reid, he is a real physically talented guy, and he defends well. Distin is PL class still, but maybe old. Camporese is a cup player, but still talented.
Torosidis and Botia are lesser known names for you I think. I am aware of Torosidis only because you bought him in the last league, and I guess more than a few haven't seen him.

Olly - I don't vote, but I would have gone for a draw too. I think you are being harsh on Bull's tactics. There was some guff in there, (but then you had Jarvis and Snodgrass delivering world class crosses!), but he did pick up on your targeting the flanks and gave good instructions to decent players to stop you,
I believe I said, "and whip in the world class crosses you can". Now I'm not saying they do everytime, but don't anybody tell me they can't. Because I have seen them both do it live numerous times. It's not a matter of opinion, it is a fact.
As for Bull's tactics, yes he did pick up me targetting the flanks, but people can't seem to comprehend the constant 2 on 1's I would have been getting on Riether with Jarvis and Garrido, which would have lead to brilliant chances. Also nobody has picked up on the substitutions I made on 70 minutes if it was a draw or I was losing. If I would have lost because of this I would have accepted it because at least people would have read my tactics thoroughly.
As for Bull's actual tactics, I'm sorry he knows I love him, but if I was voting on them every week it would hurt. Such pearls of wisdom as telling the GK to, "watch your ground", the CB's to, "defend through the middle to stop play in the middle" would be demeaning to tell a 10 year old let alone professional players.
I would accept the result if Bull would have won, or I would have won, but it has annoyed me that people clearly haven't read the tactics and comprehended them.
I really don't see you have a point. I think your tactics were no better or worse than Bulls and clearly most other people think the same thing. Reading through the tactics, I would have seen a stalemate and think you would have cancelled each other out.
The two tactics you point out seem quite sensible to me and far less fluffy than "deliver the world class crosses you can". How about, get crosses into the box and let other decide whether they are good crossers or not as it is entirely a matter of opinion whether they are great or world class
Both Jarvis and Snodgrass can deliver good crosses into the box, but seriously...world class? You are talking Iniesta, Beckham, Gerrard kind of delivery
I have seen them both do it live with my very own eyes. I wouldn't put it in there if I they couldn't do it
Would to constant 2 on 1's I would have had on Riether not had a effect on the outcome??????
I have seen Heskey deliver a world class cross too. He doesn't do it often but I have seen him do it.
Yes your doubling up would have had an impact, but also I think you underestimate Grosskreutz and Garrido pushing forward would have left him with loads of space as well and that would have had an impact. And I know you told your wingers and FBs to track back, but if they are doubling up on Riether and Groskreutz is staying forward, then they are always going to play catch up with a winger who is faster than them both

Morning
Well done Viva & Azzy
Although im not clear on part of the resonings. From what I can tell there is 6 reasons but 7 votes. That doesnt help me identify where my problems are.
I also dont understand why my formation doesnt work without a taller player to hold up the ball when I havent once said I wanted to hold up the ball. Strange how only two people picked up on my attacking plan and gave mention to Pedro
No disrespect to Viva & Azzy, as its not there reasons, but saying No Respek can dseal with the opponants threat when its Pedro vs PHIL NEVILLE just does not compute.
"amount of possession Soriano and Parker were winning for them" & "but I prefer the Dutchie's CM trio" - that helps me as it shows Viva & Azzys midfield was better and I need to work on tactics there and/or improve players.
But saying I failed because formation/no tall player/hold up the ball when I didnt set out to do that is poopie. 1 comment ruins it for all. Make me not want to put any effort in and just hand in a team sheet every week and just be around for the banter.

Thats what I thought. I like Torosidis and he was linked to Utd for a really good reason.
I also really like Botia. He is in the Spanish international reckoning and Pep kept trying to take him back to Barca to replace Puyol.

I dont mind that Afro. It helps me. I understand I need better CM or more depth (as Kroos was injured)."amount of possession Soriano and Parker were winning for them"
I'll hold my hand up for that one
I dont understand why my formation doesnt work due to not having a tall man upfront to hold up the ball WHEN I TACTICALLY SAY NOTHING ABOUT HOLDING THE BALL UP!!!

OLLY - I'm going to give my frank assessment of your game, as a friend who loves you
Viva does our voting, but if I had done it, I'd have said a draw too. Here's how I see it:
Your defence is a bit weak, and I think Petric and Szalai would have had a good game, as well as his wingers, as his tactics for his forward four were actually pretty good.
You have a very strong centre mid, so you dominated the midfield against Bull's two-man pairing. Although with Kehl trying to cause 'physical chances' at Pirlo and Marchisio, it would have been quite a battle
Your front three were up against a very good back four, and I don't think Chiellini and Barzagli would have had any trouble defending crosses from Snoddy and Jarvo when they only have Fletcher to worry about.
With Bull's team, he's got a great defensive base, but playing two in the middle would cause him trouble against a three. His strikers are capable, in my eyes, of causing a threat to any defence.
So I could see you getting a goal through your centre mid dominance, but I could see Bull getting a goal through his forward four, as his wingers would have been up against Hibbert & Garrido, plus the double-backed wingers Jarvo and Snoddy (neither of whom are capable of zipping up and down for 90mins).
Also, while it's fun to point out inaccuracies in Bull's tactics, I quote your tactics:
"Pens - Pirlo - Put em in the back of the net. It's not that hard."
PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE / WHO DOES THE GAFFER THINK HE IS
As I said, I love you as a friend, so don't get angry, this is just how I would have read the game.

Thanks Zebs, that was a tough week for us, we knew Neville was our weakest link due to Pedro so we're glad our midfield trio were able to grab the game by the scruff of the neck for us. It's a bit harsh on Neville though, he is still a very capable RB.Zinedine_Ze_Zebra wrote:Well done Viva & Azzy

Hope that's okay

I looked at your tactics ZZZ, and I thought they were really good. Only thing I would say, and I'm not sure if you've mentioned it, or if anyone else has, but you need a big man up front to hold the ball up. Otherwise your game plan cannot possibly work.

So it was you soddy.r if anyone else has, but you need a big man up front to hold the ball up.
Why do I need a big man to hold the ball up when I dont say I want the ball holding up. My front men were told to shoot on site in the box and shoot from distance.
Loads of teams have small men upfront who dont hold the ball up. So I dont see why it doesnt work. Not a single other person mentioned it but you.

Morning
Good game Zidane, it was a close game and maybe you could have picked up a draw.
Russ I don't mind people changing team names as long as the runners change the names on all the fixtures because its annoying when I vote and I don't know who the team is. I don't like chasing up names of teams.

Im just wound up. I find it so stupid. What the point of me writing tactics when someone just going to make there own up for me.
Viva, Good game fella. Congrats. I rue my injuries. Need more depth but I have no cash......so on that note....
Kroos & Pedro will be sold to the highest bidder. Cash bids must be high. Player exchange bids must total a minimum of £25m and I will be taking off 25% off the players offered TM value.
