Where's Biltong ?

Yes, a question important enough it deserves its own thread.
I did not witness the flame wars on Sunday, only got the story indirectly.
I just hope 606 has not fatally p#@sed Biltong off. Or he may be taking a well earned rest from the Sunday firefight.
Anyway Biltong, quite a few posters are asking after you, come on back on here and let us know how you are doing.

He has always been one of the finest posters, most rational and balanced moderators and just a generally enjoyable character on these boards.

The forum is a worse place without him.

I PM'd him but not heard anything back

His last post was "Well I think rather than carry on debating these issues, perhaps the time has come for me to take my leave.." and he has not been online since

I'm hoping he is just away for a few days till the just settles and comes back his old "cheery" self? If not he'll be missed and it's a shame he felt he had to go.

If any of the other Mods or admin peeps have anyway to contact him other than through here, say hi from me

Aye and I hope the mods come down hard on the constant repeat users who return tirelessly after being constantly banned again and again.

Biltong is a very good poster and moderator and comes across as a smashing bloke. I hope his holiday isn't too long as the moderation team will surely need his help on the weekend.

I had a chat with kiwi and he has an email address and was trying to get hold of bill.

Lets hope he is well and wishes to return soon.

He's writing on another blog so he's doing fine.

I saw that obnoxious thread title before it was taken down and I wouldn't blame you if you were sick of moderating this forum but some of us do appreciate you and I for one would miss you lots if you went. You're a super moderator and an intelligent poster and we love you.

Would be an awful blow to the boards if he decided to hang up the red pen!

Shame 606, this version and the last, never seems short of rowdy wums to drive away the few who make a genuine effort in each of their posts to be objective and fair.

Come back Biltong. 606 will be worse without him, and we may lose the sensible posters without his moderating.

I think they should dock his wages if he doesn't turn up soon.

You just can't get the staff these days.

Have only recently joined these boards but have followed this and the old 606 for ages. Biltong seems like a top bloke!

After more than 17,000 postings I think the fella could do with a rest. Do come back though Biltong because most of your postings that I've read seem a damn sight more sensible than most!

Biltong is top drawer in every way, as a poster, as a moderator and as a person, when you consider he manages all of that whilst overcoming the disadvantage of being born a South African, well that's the true measure of the man.

I'm sure he's just cooling off from the carp on Sunday, it really was just too much for one person to take and some of the personal stuff he had to put up with was totally unecessary, I'm sure he'll be back in the not too distant future.

Not abuse gregor, but his morals/scruples/fitness for being a mod were kind of called into question, and considering he held Ground Zero on his one on Sunday - well, it wasn't the best timing put it that way.

I read that thread and his treatment was unjust. Great to see so many genuine posters lend support to try to encourage him back.

The mods decided to give some constantly banned repeatedly reappearing posters an opportunity to redeem themselves. Unfortunately their good grace has was not reciprocated with any good will.

Well you can't say they didn't try Maesteg, some were offered opportunities way beyond what they deserved, with a little bit of luck they'll be off for good now.

maesteg, stop obsessing about returning posters mate, they were not the only ones who made complete dicks of themselves over the weekend, there were plenty of others that did as well.

Started reading a couple posts on the weekend, I think I'm pretty sure I did read the one that kicked it all off but didn't deem it worthy of a post myself and the other threads started up too so I left it. Sad to know Biltong got treated harshly. Will chuck my two cents in and say I hope he's back soon.

Hi Bilt, I know you're reading this - This site is better than the old 606 but I stay away for months on end on times and have only recently returned. It often drains me and disappoints me but there's a few decent posters from all nations on here that make it worthwhile. Let's not forget the recent camaradery when EireBilly was in trouble a few months ago - that's what we are all really about.

After big games on the weekends I tend to leave it for 4-5 days until the vitriol has died down before looking at the posts. I brush past the usual drivel and then have a look at what's being said. I use humour as a means of diffusing some situations as you know from our discussions before the RWC. I eventually return after recharging. As many have said you are a valued member of the 606 team, nothing more than that and nothing less. Hope in time to see you posting in some capacity
