Where's Biltong ?
First topic message reminder :
Yes, a question important enough it deserves its own thread.
I did not witness the flame wars on Sunday, only got the story indirectly.
I just hope 606 has not fatally p#@sed Biltong off. Or he may be taking a well earned rest from the Sunday firefight.
Anyway Biltong, quite a few posters are asking after you, come on back on here and let us know how you are doing.

Re: Where's Biltong ?
You can tell quite a bit from the volume of posts people put on how they view this site. For a long time I post only occasionally due to the WUMs that ruin decent conversation. I read a lot of the posts as I respect quite a few opinions and as I cannot watch as much rugby as I would like I appreciate the insight from others. But there has always been too much needless wumming and hopefully posters will take this opportunity to reflect on their own contributions to this fine mess.

No need.
I've been in touch with Biltong, he's taking a week or 2 out, but should be back after.

Ruby, oh, the clean shirt brigade .
Although as a Londoner who played both WF and LW for my Kent village side, I regard myself as a cosmoplitian type unafraid of buddy contact.
We once played well resourced Dulwich College and they had those wonderful huge team baths for the boys to soak in after. Classy joint.

The only part of that I relate to is the classy joint bit - Had a few after dropping a goal in injury time against Leicester in 1982 at the Gnoll to win the game

Re: Where's Biltong ?
It would seem I missed another embarrasing exchange and something inevitably went down on Sunday that has caused a lot of Bans/Breaks to be taken from good and bad posters alike.
I would like to take this oppertunity to thank the likes of Kiwi, Bilt, RDW, OZ and all the other admins for the sterling work they do.
It's also the responsibility of the posters to try and refrain from making over inflammatory comments.
Forums will get people's heckles up, that's what they do. We all come here to exchange views and opinions and we don't always agree with what each and every other poster has to say.
But we all love the game of rugby, and through that love of the game we should try to be objective but retain our passions for our club, country and province and cherrish our own opinions and beleifs, but try to understand other posters and why their opinions may differ from ours.
Through forums you can learn a lot, and thats why I post here.
I have my own opinions about Scottish rugby and the greater rugby world, but through contact on here I'm learning a lot about what other people think and it alters my perception of the rugby world.
I hope Bilt comes back feeling refreshed and ready for more debate because he is a knowlegable poster and 606V2 will be worse without the likes of him passing comment.

I'll think this joint will improve further when Biltong graces it again.
I notice the tone has been a lot more civilised since users got the wakeup call after the flame war.

Dusty Hare was a majestic man, I was only a kid and would have been gutted if that had happened to me. He came over at the end smiled, shook my hand and said well played son. That's the maturity we need on this board. What a top bloke, It was so encouraging.

I would look, but I got to be honest when 606v2 started it seemed to be sensible posts, coupled with clear joke threads meant for a laugh and not for abuse. And now it seems to be more arguing as opposed to debating. A number of good posters who were on here have disappeared, or are far far less active. ANd to be honest I have a feeling the same would happen on whatever board people decided to migrate to.

to be fair there has clearly been some changes this week.
I think normal service (clear debates etc) will resume now

Re: Where's Biltong ?
GoodIn - hopefully, but unless some of those that have gone missing are going to return (and I mean the sensible ones) then I think it may be too little too late. After all nearly all the Munster fans have gone, there area only a handful fo the Scarlets fans left, a fair number of the sensible Ospreys fans are gone etc etc.

Best Man got roughed up a bit, some guests with dodgy names were ejected, Best Man gotfed up and left the venue to nurse the bruises and leave them to it.
Remaining guests left to sober up and seem to be chatting nicely again.

We should all be glad that Biltong didn't decide to go all "Bakkies Botha" on us and become the Enforcer!
Seriously though well done to the mods for the good work that they do, this site is one of the best run out there.
If people decide to leave to chase a dream then fair play to them, they won't find better anywhere else.
