Where's Biltong ?
First topic message reminder :
Yes, a question important enough it deserves its own thread.
I did not witness the flame wars on Sunday, only got the story indirectly.
I just hope 606 has not fatally p#@sed Biltong off. Or he may be taking a well earned rest from the Sunday firefight.
Anyway Biltong, quite a few posters are asking after you, come on back on here and let us know how you are doing.

Hopefully Biltong will be watching this post.
I am asking him to be a friend via my profile.
Not because I necessarily want him to accept, but just as a coded signal to him as a token of support for his valued work.

Re: Where's Biltong ?
I must have missed all that. But I tend to avoid wummy threads. Don't even read them, let alone post. But I guess the mods have to deal with these characters. Why were people annoying Biltong?
Here's how I try to react to wums
1. Avoid posts by people who wind you up and read ones by people who's opinions you find interesting.
2. Try to engage people who annoy you in meaningful conversation.
3. If they're not up for that and continue to wind up then simply stop talking to them and discuss it with someone else.
4. Optional Step

I missed whatever happened at the weekend but can probably predict the sort of stuff!
Hope to see Biltong back on these boards soon. He's a good mod and one of the better posters around. As someone who often reads threads without commenting I can see why people may need a break every now and then!

ASABO - was V3 set up because of the WUM merchants on here and what sort of quality control will there be? There is, obviously, a serious danger that the same helmets from V2 will just reincarnate themselves on any forum and ruin that one too

But i'm not a WUM and I don't know where this magical land without Wumming is, where English and Welsh posters have amiable discussions with each other, where all are respectful of the difficult jobs that referees have and all are graceful in victory and defeat.

Re: Where's Biltong ?
Pot Hale good find.
Grey Ghost still stalking and haunting poor old Biltong, not that I think Bil minds that much.
Plus GG back to his other favourite pursuit: haunting England rugby. All the way back to 1991 in fact to lob a few obsolete bombs about England rugby 21 years ago. Although he avoids the more recent AB / England experiences of 2002, 2003, as these were just too boring for him.
I wonder what GG will be writing this Saturday evening ? It is certain to be both bitter and hilarious in equal measure whatever the result.

I'm usually pretty hot at finding anything on the net with minimal info but I can find nothing on this.

Joints hahah used for post match pain relief I am sure.
Dusty Hare was a majestic man, I was only a kid and would have been gutted if that had happened to me. He came over at the end smiled, shook my hand and said well played son. That's the maturity we need on this board. What a top bloke, It was so encouraging.
It's not often I get to name drop but I know Dusty well. I'll ask him if he remembers the Gnoll in 82

Well dragonbreath, I never saw any post from Biltong that involved him using personal abuse against another poster, and I'm certain he wasn't having fun modding on his own last Sunday, for free, so that certain individuals had somewhere to expectorate their never-ending bile.#
As far as I'm aware, the biggest issue for moderators is posters hurling personal abuse, not posters merely "making comments". Calculated wind-ups and controversial observations are not something people get "hauled over the coals for", on the contrary, it's essentially what makes this forum tick, so I'm not sure what you're saying.
Moreover, for posters to make such accusations as were made, in public and on a thread that Biltong had started to try and cool things down, was not just bad form and poor timing, it was entirely unproductive.
It makes me laugh, honestly, everyone's a critic, but this is reality; you can't be a fan without passion and you can't be a mod without committment and sacrifice, everything else is just about being human. Those who are so quick to criticise mods should put their hands up and volunteer themselves for a spell, before being so judgmental.
In any eventuality, to speak of Biltong in the past tense is just a little bit premature.

Biltong might just be the only "nice South African" out there, you can't blame us for not wanting to lose him.
The man has single-handedly ruined one of THE stereotypes of the 80's, he has built bridges that were ruined during the apartheid era to the extent that those of us who remember them, wonder where the problem really was in the first place.
Naturally, we all now know that they were political problems that ignored the ordinary people, regardless of colour, but did attack those of a particular colour through nothing else but ignorance.
Don't let ignorance be your friend profitus, it will leave you friendless.

By the way, I amslightly heavier (only a tad) than 84 KG's, silver white hair (since I was in my early twenties) and greyblue eyes.
The only way that poster would have helped is I am in fact 5 foot 11 inches.

Glad to see you back my bru!
