Will one day internationals still exist in ten years time???
Watching the big bash...The IPL and other big huge lucrative 20 over competitions...One can see it's already the golden goose of cricket...
I see some kid has bemoaned on another thread India's demise....which though sad is not a surprise. We are in age where money and family security comes before the honor of serving your Country (in sport anyway) and maybe rightly so!!
As India is the big fore-runner in t20 it is no surprise they are suffering the most as youngsters are pursuing the buck rather than the "TEST" skills needed to play the five day game!!!
Other countries will suffer in time as T20 is so lucrative it can only grow and grow as money talks!!!
Now the only option for me and no doubt for the heads of the game would be to re-evaluate the situation...
Test cricket has a huge legacy and is the most prestigious form of cricket......T20 is the most profitable form and the biggest moneymaker...
Room for both in an expanding age??.......probably!!
So getting rid of 50 over internationals is an option.....They are the elephant in the room....
Around in ten years time......I don't think so at the highest level..

I think 50 over cricket will survive.
We must remember that ODIs are still highly lucrative: they sell out virtually everywhere apart from NZ, and, lasting longer than T20, sell more adverts too.
The supposed decline of 50 overs is in part a result of the media constantly moaning about long series. But they often forget that its only them (and the players) that go to every match. For the spectators ODIs are still perhaps the most attractive format: a full days entertainment, and the chance to see everyone bat and ball.

T20 is, and i will put it bluntly is, sorry should have been a poo image here but did noy work,
and imo will gradually die away.
But for some who do not get the chance of big money whilst playing for their countries, of course the lure of the IPL, Big Bash and the lesser ones will be appealing to get the big bucks. To get to play for those T20 teams though you need a good cricketing reputation already and thus you should be quite wealthy already. So then it comes down to greed for even more.
But there are still plenty of players who can be fantastic in all forms, even though some say it can dilute their Test ability. Class will prevail.
But Test, ODI cricket imo will outlast T20.

How can they outlast the most profitable form of the game....
You can leave work and watch a full game.....The other forms can't live with that....
T20 will grow and grow and alas scheduling international cricket will have a smaller window....
I'll ignore the idiot..

Joking asie look at the calender...its not T20s that India are scheduling ridiculous numbers of.
Part of the reason perhaps that they dont want ICC international T20 tournaments sprining up on annual to take the gloss of the IPL? Too much international T20 would be bad for that product which currently , aside forom the 4 yearly world cup, is the premium product.
On the flip side they seem more than content with absurd numbers of pointless ODIs and daft competitions like the ICC "its not the world cup" Trophy

T20 is killing itself - there's too much of it! The fans are decreasing every year from the IPL and the Champions League isn't really a hit with the fans. ODIs will still be around in ten years time, and will still be around in fifty years time.

The TV ratings had come down significantly even for the IPL.
It can be funn, but can't be too much of it.
ODIs will survive, the market still loves it.

Exactly, who want's poo when you can have the cream.
T20 is boring and people are dwindling around the world at the various stadia for T20.
A bit like pot black in snooker, fun at first {novelty} then nothing compared to the real thing. Then dieing out.
