The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Hopetoun House, Edinburgh - where the Management Team for the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour party to Australia was announced.
“This is the next chapter in the 2013 tour story," said tour manager Andy Irvine.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Warren Gatland,
Andy Farrell, Shaun Edwards, Kiwi Pete's Grandfather, Rava, Rodders, Andy Irvine, Graham Rowntree, Dr James Robson,
Paul Stridgeon, Kip Keino, Baggage Master Patrick O’Reilly and Lawyer Max Duthie above the bar.

Well to be perfectly honest, Treviso beating anyone at home is never- and will never- be a surprise. An upset, but not an unexpected one if that makes sense? They are formidable at home.
Since they moved into the Pro12 they've come on in leaps and bounds. Were the European Rugby status quo to continue, which it will not, I would see them as having a chance to develop into a team that can compete with the very best in Europe.

Agree Notch. I think what lets Treviso down is their indiscipline. If they can keep 15 players on for the full 80, they're a daunting opposition.

Only two sides have come to Ravenhill and beaten Ulster in the last 18 months or so. Can you guess?
Leinster, reigning European Champions.
And Treviso. Not a side to be underestimated. Right now, they are just the guys who are also rans but spoil things for the better sides. The perfect banana skin side. Not a top team, not yet at a stage where they can compete for silverware or anything, but never write them off.

Now THAT Cari- that is a wonderful finish from Eli Walker!
I would be sickened if Ospreys didn't bring this home because they've been the better side since kick-off.

Notch - if Beck's try hadn't been knocked away that would've been a corker as well.

I just want Toulouse to leave with zero points added to the group table. They look disinterested.
All this talk about Pro12 sides being disinterested in the league and that devaluing our tournament- pales in comparison to this. Toulouse just do not care.

I wonder if Toulouse have become complacent. They do have a great track record in this competition. Looks like they've just scored too.

No, its the Toulouse way.
If ever there was a team who do just enough to win however badly they are playing its Toulouse under Guy Noves. I just hope they don't pull it off today.

Leicester leading this group by one point, and in Treviso it's 13-14 to the Tigers too.

So so proud of the O's. A depleted O's side beating French champs Toulouse 17-6 is huge, and they deprived them of a LBP!!!

The Sky commentators are actually right!
Yes, they did butcher a try at the end. And yes, that pass does sum up the afternoon for them!

Thanks Notch. I'm hoping Tommy will get a couple of corking tries later on as well. It's not too much to ask.
Wonder how this Leinster match is going to go...?
Hey Sounds like a binning cost Treviso yet again.

Tommy stretchered off. Hyperextension of the knee isn't good. He knew right away he was hurt! Gutted for him! And you
Northampton win 10-9. Not a good weekend for any of the provinces so far. Hopefully Munster get something tomorrow.

What's hyperextention of the knee when it's at home? Whatever, I'm absolutely gutted. He'll be off for ages I reckon. Such a shame for him when Ulster are doing well in Europe.

I hope Tommy is okay.
Nasty hyperextended knee which caused a lot of pain initially but he looked comfortable before he went off.
Could be awful or not too bad. Maybe I'm just being exceedingly hopeful?
Well done the Saints. Totally different team from last week.

No, I'll join you on the hopeful front MrsP. He seemed a little less concerned as he was being carried off, applauding the crowd and being responsive. if he was in agony he wouldn't do that. I guess it's a scan and then whatever treatment is needed. God I hope it's nothing serious. I'd be happy to see him back for the Six Nations if not for the next Heino round. I guess I'll miss him in Belfast then.

Leg going straighter than its meant to be, Cari. Studs stuck in the ground and all his wait came through it. Fingers crossed its not that serious but I'm not optimistic.
I don't know Glas. Very scrappy game with both teams making a lot of handling errors. Things just didn't seem to click for Ulster. Northampton won the tight exchanges especially the scrum when it came to crunch time.

So Tommy Bowe- its his leg? I couldn't tell what it was, didn't have the best view. I just wanted him to be okay. We'll cope without him but most of all I'm gutted for him. The way it is right now, we have three wingers really battling it out and the slightest thing means you miss out- when he comes back its back to square one in terms of getting into the team for him. Gutting.
I'm just back from Ravenhill. It was a hell of a game of rugby there tonight. Probably Ulsters worst performance of the season. I turned around at the final whistle and went to shake a Saints fans hand first thing he says is "Good luck in the Final"!

Hey Notch. From the press photos I've seen and what I saw watching on a stream, it appears to be his knee, possibly the back of his knee. I think he's over stretched it or torn something perhaps? Whatever, I'm just gutted that it's happened. I really hope it doesn't affect his chances in the long term what with a big Six Nations and potential Lions tour coming up in addition to what's happening for Ulster. Just terrible timing. There was minutes left in the game as well. It sounds like you enjoyed it depsite the result anyway?

Yeah, I did. Well, I've been able to keep my perspective on things anyway. I'm not happy about it but you know- when I really enjoy a game of rugby, I applaud both teams off the pitch and then I rant anonymously on the internet.
That game was a paradox. It was riddled with errors, mainly Ulsters. And yet at full time I felt it was a great advert for the game of rugby union and the Heineken Cup.
Put it this way. That was our worst performance of the season. That was a Saints team who deserve an enormous amount of credit for the way they reacted to last week. And how many points did we lose by?
I'm disappointed, but I'm also confident that this Ulster team has serious potential.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought most Ulster fans would find it frustrating what with all the errors, but it wasn't a drubbing by any means. How is your pool looking? O's are still third in their pool, nevertheless I think the win today has just really uplifted everyone - especially after all the negativity around Welsh rugby generally. The team are chuffed to bits. Today has been a very mixed day for me though. I'm glad the O's unexpectedly won, but anxious for Tommy.

Ulster Rugby are five points clear over Saints at the top, but Castres in third have a game in hand.
http://www.ercrugby.com/eng/heinekencup/pools/index.php
I guess it just says we need to win the next two games in our pool. Thats what will get us a home quarter. God, a win for Glasgow over Castres would make a world of difference but I can't see it.
Same as I couldn't see a Saints win, right? We'll see. It's a three horse race and our next home game is at home to Glasgow whilst in Round 5 Castres and Saints play each other.

So bonus points are crucial then? That's the entertaining thing about the Heino - when it goes down to the wire like that. Just have to see how it goes...
