The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Hopetoun House, Edinburgh - where the Management Team for the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour party to Australia was announced.
“This is the next chapter in the 2013 tour story," said tour manager Andy Irvine.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Warren Gatland,
Andy Farrell, Shaun Edwards, Kiwi Pete's Grandfather, Rava, Rodders, Andy Irvine, Graham Rowntree, Dr James Robson,
Paul Stridgeon, Kip Keino, Baggage Master Patrick O’Reilly and Lawyer Max Duthie above the bar.

Shame you can't make it Oz. I like Twickenham once I'm in my seat, and the stuff outside is pretty good. The bar areas are fecking useless though.

It's been a real struggle getting to games this year Hound to be honest, a lot of our home games seem to have fallen on weekends I can't make. Am going to watch the Wild Geese next weekend at home against Newton Abbott in NL3 as we are away at Gloucester and it's too far to take the little ones really.

Ah, cracking stuff!
The '71 series was close wasn't it? 2-1 with the draw in the last match.
That one loss to Qld or NZ in '71?
An amazing achievement playing all of those games... against some gnarly provincial sides too.

Indeed, following the third test the Lions led the series 2 - 1. The final game played in Auckland would require an All Black victory for New Zealand to draw the series. A draw or Lions victory would give the Lions a series win. Scores were level 8–8 at half time with a try, conversion and penalty each. The first 15 minutes of the second half saw the Lions land a penalty goal and the All Blacks score a try. With the scores tied 11–11, Lions fullback JPR Williams received the ball 45 metres out and attempted a drop goal, it was successful and put the Lions ahead 14–11. Remarkably, Williams' drop goal was the only one he ever landed in his test career. The All Blacks could only manage three further points from a sole penalty to draw the game and give the Lions the series

Evening pub, think it'd better be a for me.
Been out with the girls tonight, Prosecco is evil stuff!
Not been in here for a few days, hope everyone has had an enjoyable Christmas. Time to go and sleep off the impending headache.

The Wasps fan drained the Mogliano club of every last drop of it* + Peroni, and all of their wonderful Italian sausage in ciabbatta.
*They brought in extra stocks and put it in the ice cream fridges.
A grand weekend of friendship with our hosts.
I'm wearing my Mogliano shirt and cap to Big Game 5 tomorrow. That should confuse a few people.

Horrible weather in the Diff today, so I'm not going anywhere. I did some shopping this morning and got soaked. Hope everyone's keeping well.

Cheers Cari, I'll try and have a look at that when I can get WiFi.
Bonus point win for Wasps at L. Welsh 15-34. With Exe drawing we're up to 6th.
It was a very wet exit from Twickenham earlier. That Cardiff rain had made its way to London.

It's an Ulster 3rd choice team with quite a strong Munster team out in fairness, they were super in the first half, fading a bit now. Now ROG is on, parity is more likely, Munster will be stifled creatively.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Ian Humphreys had a good game for Irish in a losing cause. T'was a shame that not many of his colleagues responded to his promptiings.
I've got to give credit to Quins, their defence was excellent whenever Irish threatened (mainly through Tagicakibau). A fortunately awarded try by Care (double movement?) and a pen try from a scrum that Irish wheeled, though Quins were still in control of the ball, did for Irish, who never really threatened Quins' line.
Good beer, and company on the day.

Attendance at Murrayfield for the return leg of 1872 (?) Cup was over 11,000. Still looks bl**dy awful on the box though! I see that BOD should make his return next Friday vs Edinburgh but the prospect of that morgue-like atmosphere makes even this incentive less than attractive. Think I'll wait to see team news later in the week before making up my mind.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Edinburgh
Afternoon pub, had a lovely break so far, spent a very relaxed morning with pencil and brushes and I'm now watching the Saffercens v Sinners game which is building into a bit of a finale.
Oh, and I still have 7 days off work left.
Disappointed that Ulster lost their first P12 game, but it was a very inexperienced lineup and the comfortable lead hasn't been dented too much
Bath managed to keep their undefeated record against Chiefs, but a draw was not enough for any aspirations Bath may have still had for a top six finish. The net result being that winning the Amlin looks like Bath's only hope of getting into the Heino next season, and I'm going to be coughing-up £5 to a charity of Prop's choosing... I'm not sure what's worse.

£10! What do you mean £5? I haven't got £3, go on then here's a quid.
I thought that might flush you out.
I'd better get back to work...
"Half a denarii for an old ex-leper?"
On a serious note, a cracking finish to the game, unlucky Myler.

It was a very good game PJ; great advert for the Prem. Myler's kick hitting the crossbar at the end was gutting for Saints. Still, that result keeps Wasps in 5th.
I've got vertigo - we haven't been that high for 4 seasons.

Afternoon All
Hope everyone's well. I'm back in work tomorrow, but I should be finishing earlier than usual. Just watching Space Dive - the documentary film about Felix Baumgartner's jump. Great stuff.
Rhys Webb's been banned for a week after he admitted stamping during the Scarlets match on Boxing Day. Can't argue with that. Neither did Webb to be fair.

How'ya Herr Hund? Enjoying your retirement?
Yep, it wasn't the widest game I've ever seen, but very entertaining nonetheless, ebbed and flowed and plenty of intensity, grunt, endeavour and general bishing and boshing, lovely!
Wasps are playing some good stuff at the moment, fair play to them it's not a false position.

Howya Peej! My Christmas was a quiet and much needed rest following the lergy. I don't mind working over this Christmas anyway, cause I'm off to Ireland a week Thursday for a long weekend.
Felix's jump was amazing considering what he went through just to get himself to do it. At one point he walked out of the mission following anxiety attacks, went to Austria and refused to come back but then got himself mentally and physically trained to do it.
Looking forward to seeing T. when it's finished Hope your Crimble was a good one.

Ah, I've just caused consternation, frustration and received derision in the Wheatsheaf. I thought the Dragons v Ospreys game was today and had the staff messing around with the TVs trying to find it (I know it's on Sky channel 134 - S4C).
After ending up with Rownd and Rownd, and then Pobol y Cym Omnibus, I checked Penfro's guide. The game is tomorrow!
Consternation from the footy fans at having their game interrupted, frustration from the expectant rugby fraternity, and derision from same.
