The Northampton Town 2012-13 thread
First topic message reminder :
No win in three has seen the Cobblers drop from 9th to 13th but have only dropped to 4 points off 7th after being 2 points back at the start of this run.
Back to back games against teams below, this Saturday at home to Aldershot and then away to AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day, before going to leaders Gillingham on the 29th and opening 2013 at home to Dagenham & Redbridge who are currently ahead of Northampton by one point in 12th. It'll be a tough holiday period but hoping 2013 starts with the team in good form. It's gonna be tough but getting through this period and staying in touch is vital as the fixtures get easier, on paper, as the season comes to an end.

I think anything less than a Play off spot, should be classed as dissapointment now!

The wheels have fallen off for a top three finish. Got Wycombe away on Tuesday and then a trip to Port Vale, who still need to clinch promotion after Rochdale scored a 90th minute equaliser, next week. Burton have got Bradford away next week. Cheltenham are at Exeter and Rotherham at Plymouth.

Automatic promotion is slowly fading away, however play offs 100% look to happen!

So here's the run ins....
Burton - 3rd, 73 points
20th - Bradford (a)
27th - Gillingham (h)
Cheltenham - 4th, 71 points
20th - Exeter (a)
27th - Bradford (h)
Rotherham - 5th, 70 points
16th - Bradford (a)
20th - Plymouth (a)
27th - Aldershot (h)
Northampton - 6th, 68 points
16th - Wycombe (a)
20th - Port Vale (a) still need a point to clinch promotion
27th - Barnet (h)
Bradford - 7th, 65 points
16th - Rotherham (h)
20th - Burton (h)
27th - Cheltenham (a)
Exeter - 8th, 64 points
20th - Cheltenham (h)
27th - Chesterfield
Chesterfield - 9th, 61 points
16th - Plymouth (h)
20th - Fleetwood (a)
27th - Exeter (h)
I'd like to think should Northampton beat Wycombe tomorrow automatic is still on the cards. My Dad reckons Burton could only pick a point but if they do I think 3rd will be Rotherham's for the taking. I think 4 points will be enough for a top 7 finish and I'd prefer finishing 6th or 7th and getting the first leg at home. We'll have no chance of progressing if the 1st leg is away. We've lost away to everyone we've played but Burton in the top 9.

With goalie Lee Nicholls among the departed Cobblers are closing in on the signing of Matt Duke from Bradford.
