India vs England 2nd T20 match thread
Thought i'd set up a new page for the game today starting at 1:30. I'm predicting an India win unfortunately.

Root plays, but in place of Briggs not Lumb. No cap for Harris.

Yeh Dernbach was average at best in the last T20. As a Glammy fan I'd love to see Harris in an England shirt, just not a T20 shirt. His game just isn't suited to it (Apart from his batting of course).

Perhaps because Root can bowl a bit of spin. Harsh on Briggs, everyone knows my feelings on Lumb. Rather a youngster in Briggs carry on than someone in their 30's who struggles against spin.

I don't see the logic in playing Lumb again. Ashwin will surely come straight on.
If restricted to this squad I'd have just put Root up the top.

Re: India vs England 2nd T20 match thread
they did need to do something about the batting depth and the squad is very short on options.
Given Patel wasnt even used in the last game theres already enough bowling ( although personally I wouldve had shot of him, and dernbach for Waokes too)
Im not really sure about Root in T20 but ho hum

Afternoon all,
I see England's ugly scrappy bowling continues after an unusually tidy first two overs.
15 off that, this second string are deeply flawed. Can England not pick an even half good side for these matches? I admire them having more guts than India to experiment but there are limits.

Credit where it is due, the bowlers have tidied up after that mess well at the moment.

Pity for england India bat so deep, theyve kept taking wickets through the game but still cant peg the rate back enough to look in control.

Re: India vs England 2nd T20 match thread
this is big a case of "fulfil the fixture because we have to" as I've seen from the ECB. They were here for tests not this.
Now we have ODI's coming up. Bored stiff of it myself, wish they'd move onto the kiwi test series, had quite enough India series of late.

Good point on Indias batting depth, especially with eng stripped of all bowlers. No surprise this is happening.
allow the india fans to go mad and pretend the tests never happened and sadly sours englands tour a bit.

If we had our best batsmen then we might have a chance but I doubt this lineup will get within 20.

177. Pretty chaseable ?
Wouldn't be betting my house on England getting it , but if not too many of them commit suicide they must have a fair chance. Morgan due a big one...

177 is getable but you wouldnt look at a side that only has two good batsmen, one of whome is off form, and expect them to get it.

With India's bowling, 177 doesn't make me hyper confident. But a good score nevertheless, fine efforts from Kohli and Dhoni, and Raina too did alright.
Gautam Gambhir proves yet again its time he's send back to domestic cricket.

Bright start , anyway. Couple of fielding fumbles , dew might aid England later...I dare to be hopeful...

Seems like Dhoni missed a trick by not bringing Ashwin on against Lumb. He's enjoying the pace on the ball here. This is turning out to be a fine start for England already.

Good was 38 from two overs like India did. 12 seems very mild.

The boundaries are shorter by a meter or so than it was in the firstt match and even the top edges are flying away for 6.

12 of the first over from Dinda, and Awana has followed up with a 13 run 2nd over. England in charge.

Well that was bad cricket all round : 7-2 field , bowls a short rubbish ball , batsman picks out the one man in a hundred yards on the leg , and he spills a sitter !

Dhoni did speak about the improved fielding after the first match. Sorry skipper, spoke too soon!. Dreadful drop that was.

Awana isn't having a good game, a horrible drop, the ball is following him a bit and that over he bowled wasn't great either.
6 of Ashwin's first over, a sense of control for India the first time, some panicked running in that over from England.

Dhoni continuing with Awana and pace is going for plenty of runs.

For a fellow who everyone thinks is rubbish , Lumb isn't doing too badly here...
Don't think India will want to bowl too much more pace today.

Not really...the worst was the 18 took of the guy who was dropped, and neither spinner did much. The third spinner wasnt used in either match theyve always had a spare.

13 overs at 8.5 with all your wickets in hand ...could be doable but they have to figure out how to score off chawla

Fifty for Lumb.
May indeed be "about time too" , but credit where it's due , this has been a good knock.

In a way I think I would tweak the batting order after that opening stand , and have Morgan in straight away...but let us hope Wright can carry it on ...just don't want to lose several quick wickets , as this is now quite getable.

Re: India vs England 2nd T20 match thread
England have bags of wickets in hand and a better rate to get tahn when they started, we had Lumb down as 10 anyway so really there has to be more optimism than when the innings started.

Trouble with this twenty over thing is you can't really afford even an over or two of not much scoring. And Yuvraj is proving a problem again.
...and as I type he gets number two...
