Ulster v Scarlets Friday 4/1/2013 match thread
First topic message reminder :
So this Friday 4/1/2013 Ulster take on Scarlets at Ravenhill. Kick off is at 7:05pm.
Ulster are coming off their first league loss of the season away to Munster albeit with a significantly weakened team. I think here we can expect to see a very different looking Ulster team especially with on this game to go before the crucial Heineken Cup final round matches.
The Scarlets are coming off a heavy boxing day away defeat to Ospreys as well and will be looking to close the gap and build momentum into their own Heineken cup ties.
Should be a cracking match with a rivalry that has really developed in the past few seasons I can't wait.
BBC 2 NI are covering th match any other broadcasters I come across will be added as will teams as the week goes on.
Ulster XV
(15-9): A D’Arcy, A Trimble, D Cave, L Marshall, C Gilroy; P Jackson, R Pienaar;
(1-8): T Court, R Herring, A Macklin, L Stevenson, D Tuohy, R Diack, C Henry c, N Williams;
Replacements (16-23): N Annett, C Black, J Afoa, N McComb, R Wilson, M Heaney, P Wallace, R Andrew.
Scarlets : Dan Newton, George North, Gareth Maule, Jonathan Davies (capt), Kristian Phillips, Aled Thomas, Tavis Knoyle, Phil John, Emyr Phillips, Jacobie Adriaanse, Sione Timani, Richard Kelly, Josh Turnbull, Johnathan Edwards, Rob McCusker.
Replacements: Kirby Myhill, Rhodri Jones, Deacon Manu, Tomas Vallejos, Craig Price, Gareth Davies, Scott Williams, Adam Warren.
Referee: Leighton Hodges (WRU)
Assistant Referees: Sean Gallagher, Brian MacNeice (both IRFU)
Citing Commissioner: Gordon Black (IRFU)
TMO: Marshall Kilgore (IRFU

Well, it didn't look like a cheekbone injury from that camera angle, so hopefully it's nothing serious and he's just had a bump to the head.

All right Rodders.
Jebus Scarlets, that was hard work. Turnbull's over though!

Think Marshall will be starting next week, poor midfield defence there
Re: Ulster v Scarlets Friday 4/1/2013 match thread
At last a Scarlets try, I was wondering if it would ever happen again.

Marshall was the better between himself and Wallace tonight.
That was a frustrating try to concede, rush defence not co-ordinated.

Do some Scarlets fans still think Knoyle is better than Gareth Davies? For me he's been playing better for 2 seasons but surely this game must confirm it for the rest.

North had a neck/head injury but the stretcher was precautionary. Not a serious as feared though.

Turned off at half time, Ref giving all the decisions to Ulster.
The Rabo is dead in my eyes due to weak incompetent refs.
I feel HC and Super rugby is the way forward for me.

The ref is weak...
Ulster are a fabulous team, 40-10! Could be more. Aled Thomas is a dimwit. If he didn't catch the ball and just carried on running backwards he would have got away with it (or maybe not with this ref).

I don't think so mate and let me tell you if you are losing 40-10 that's more than the referee mate.

I think this game has been a corker. Scarlets have really given a lot and can hold their heads high. They will win plenty more games this yer.

That decision caps the referees performance...!
Well done Ulster best team in Europe this season... Amazing team playing great rugby.
Scarlets were naive and stupid in so many areas.

Full Time 47-15. Williams was top notch today, Marshall should get the nod over Wallace next week. Great second half by Ulster and a great start to the year. SUFTUM

As good as Ulster are, Scarlets really are quite poor, their big signings haven't really worked as well as hoped, and although you would expect them to win a few more, I don't think they will win that many.
Andrews is really quite poor.

Great try for Williams. Better scoreline for the Scarlet there.
for the Scarlets fans.
Fantastic result. Really hard fought first 50min and delighted the way we pulled away late on against a good Scarlets side.
SUFTUM!

I don't really care what the score is or if it was a corker of a game i no longer have an ounce of interest in this league,if a ref wont let you get a grip in a professional game there is nothing any player can do!
Seen it for years now in this League.
I have better things to do with my time than watch a man with a whistle.
