Leinster v Scarlets HC
First topic message reminder :
Were I Joe Schmidt I would select this team. Although there may be wisdom in starting Strauss and seeing how long he can go for, rather than bringing him off the bench and finding it was not as long as we thought.
Our only injuries are Roux and Browne which leaves us short on tight head locks.

The Leinster squad have stepped up their preparations ahead of Saturday evening's Heineken Cup Round 5 encounter against the Scarlets in the RDS (KO: 6pm)...
Fresh from Friday night’s bonus point victory over Edinburgh, the management have reported no fresh major injury concerns aside from the usual bumps and bruises.
Meanwhile, returning trio Luke Fitzgerald, Rob Kearney and Brian O’Driscoll all successfully came through the game and suffered no ill effects after their respective long-term injuries.
The management are hopeful that Isa Nacewa and Richardt Strauss will both return to the panel for the visit of the Llanelli based side. Dave Kearney and Eoin O’Malley should also come into the frame to join Ireland international Fergus McFadden, who was rested for the victory in the Scottish capital.
With the ‘A’ side also in action in the British & Irish Cup against Pontypridd in Donnybrook on Saturday afternoon (KO: 2pm) it is another busy week for the province which moved from their base in UCD to a short two-day camp in Johnstown House on Monday lunchtime.

Watching RCT v Sarries. Want RCT to beat them well (no LBP) to put them in fine fettle for Munster next week. 25-18 at the minute.
Biarritz can only get 19 pts now. Same with Saints. 20 pts, if we can get them, could well be enough yet. Will be cheering for both Ospreys and Edinburgh this weekend. As well as Leinster. This HC has a few twists and turns left in it yet. It always dishes up a few shocks. I love it.
Believe.
Yeah we really need Racing to win by 7 or more

Yup, do that and Sarries can only get 19 pts too. This is key. Hate depending on others. Weird feeling.

Farrell playing Wilko-like. 10 from 10. 28-37 FT. No LBP for RCT. Sarries have this pool sown up now. Edinburgh at home next week. RCT out of it now. Good for Munster.
Thats about it for Leinster imo. Unless some weird results kick in this weekend and next, its just about over for this year. A chink of light, if Edniburgh beat Munster. I dont think that will happen.
Best we give the English or French a HC win. May calm them down from trying to destroy the best Club comp on the Planet.

Re: Leinster v Scarlets HC
Check the Pools, Fan. We are still in it, but we are praying that most of the 2nd placed teams only have 19 pts, or less, to play for next week.
Saints & Biarrritz we can bypass with max pts.
Munster, Tigers, Toulouse, and expecially Montpellier can all bypass us.
Need Toulon to beat Montpellier away (very possible). Need Ospreys to turn Tigers over tonight at Welford Rd (nah). Need Edinburgh or RCT to beat Munster (nah).
Its not good man. But until the fat lady clears her throat... its not over yet.
I still kinda Believe.

LeinsterFan4life wrote:Why does that mean we are out Gibbo?
Because
Munster should beat Edinburgh and with Racing having nothing to play for it means Munster should win then too. Leaving them in one of the top runners up
and
Montpellier are on 18 also and are playing a Cardiff Blues side in free fall so should win next week to pick up 2nd in that
and
Tolouse have Treviso at home tomorrow so should pick up 4 points there putting them on 17 going in to a tough last game granted but I'd back them to get through too
It would take some pretty spectacular stuff at this stage.
Racing beating Sarries by more than 7 would have been a chink of light

Two bonus point wins and we will finish ahead of Munster!!!!!!

Re: Leinster v Scarlets HC
We need to score shedload of tries in the next 2 games and get the max 10 pts from them, as it most likely that a few 2nd placers may end up on 20 pts too. Tries will count and we have feicall.
Im just going to enjoy the game tonight and leave the rest to Faith, Hope and Belief. And most of all, Luck.

Could be a real changing of the guard weekend.
Only a brainfart by Castres in the 80+th minute in round 1 puts Ulster through.
You've got to feel for the Saints.
Leinster for a win today but no QF place.

Nearly roysh Pete. Montpeller have Toulon at home next week. TF. That could help put us through if Toulon beat them. Another chink of light there.
I fancy Munster and Tigers to make it as best RU´s now. And Montpellier could do it too.
MON Leinster! I hate playing at a dead Lansdowne. RDS has a far better atmosphere.
BELIEVE!

If it makes anyone feel confident. no better a doyen of rugby brainnthought than Stuart Barnes predicts 10 Leinster points in the next two games.

Ha ha. I think he's brilliant. He must be like marmite though because some can't stand him. I love the way he just gets way to excited when an Irish team scores and sometimes even starts making up his own phrases, as if he simply can't express how happy he is in normal English
"Leeeeeinsteeeeeer. That's liquid electricity"
What does that even mean? .
He also clearly has a man crush on BOD.

Re: Leinster v Scarlets HC
Those 2nd place qualifying spots are going to be pretty close. 19pts might be enough, 20pts should be enough.
But there are a few results that could shake things up, like Montpellier winning at home to Toulon, which is quite possible. Or anything that happens in pool 2.
TBPs next week will decide everything by the looks of it.
