He's hardly "kicked" him. He's tried to poke the ball out, and caught the boy barely in the stomach.

If that's a "kick" I've been severely abused in my lifetime

Cantona hardly caught the guy either...kicking a child is NOT the message that professional footballers should be conveying, regardless of how hard he touched him. 19 games please Mr Brooking.

Just seen it again, I love how the ball boy looks up and seams fine before starting his best Suarez impersonation,

Either way hazard shouldn't have gone to kick the ball and the ball boy should have done his job

He walked off the pitch clutching his ribs. I've been kicked harder by my 3 year old little brother than that.

Suarez would have been proud of that playacting from the ball boy

Swansea did their job superbly tonight, I get in the car after watching the game while playing pool, first word heard on TalkSport was "ballboy".

Its gonna run and run.

Hazard has a 3 game ban for the red, another 3 game ban and a heavy fine (4 weeks at £150k P/W) to be put towards grass roots should be sufficient.

Morning lads

Having seen the incident, and having seen the ballboy's tweets before the game, I would give Hazard a 12 game ban, plus a 2 week fine (I think that's the maximum they can dish out?). During that 12 game ban he can train with the Chelsea lads as normal, but he should also go up to St George's Park and do some stuff with younger players up there. As well as seeing his £300k of wages going to yourh development.

Quite why the FA don't run the game like this is beyond me.

Then they should have moved on after Cantona. Terry. Suarez. Ferdinand. You HAVE to punish players severely when they step out of line like that - the FA cannot be seen to condone kicking ballboys, and cannot afford to let him off with a 3-game ban. Regardless of the acting, and the scenario in which Hazard reacted, the simple fact that he kicked a ballboy needs to be addressed. If the FA don't come down on him like a ton of bricks, they may as well let Suarez call black players whatever he wants, let players get away with diving, and no longer send players off for career-threatening studs up 2 footed lunges.

The FA gave Terry 4 games after the Police said he was innocent, so there is a precedent - a recent one - for throwing the book at Hazard.

With only 4 years between them in age, I don't think it's necessarily fair that Hazard is the bad guy and this kid is an angel. Neither are mature adults yet.

Plus think about it - if you had the chance to kick Olly, would you do it? He's only 17, but he could do with a good kicking.

( heart love you really)

I'd shaft Olly sideways given the chance, teach him a lesson or two about life... Hug

Seriously, the FA cannot afford to let this go. All this about too much money at an early age going to young players' heads seems to be accurate this morning. Hazard is a spoilt brat with no concept of appropriate behaviour.

To think if the ball boy would have just given the ball back we would all be talking about Swansea's achievement in getting to the final.

I don't see any need for more than a 3 match ban. Yes Hazard did wrong, but he apologised to the boy straight after, and the boy also apologised for being a winker.

I don't see the need for any more punishment. If the FA punish Hazard with a 12 game ban like you suggest, that would mean that they see giving a ball boy a so called "kick" is worse than racism

I agree with Azzy on this, yes the kid is a grade A twonk and should never have been allowed to be a ball boy in the first place but it sets a very dangerous precedent to not take action over it.

Action will be taken, no doubt

But I don't think they need to go over the top, simply because I can't see players suddenly thinking "oh we should all kick a ball boy if it's only a 6 game ban". Human decency will probably be enough to stop that.

The racism bans were ridiculous in length IMO, but in the same respect would a 12 game ban (so in effect around 3 months) for physically assaulting a minor compare to a 8 month ban for Rio for going shopping instead of a drugs test.

You'd think 'human decency' would also stop racism, homophobia and bullying, but until there is a serious deterrent, it'll keep happening.

The FA knows it messed up on Suarez and Terry. The next time there's a racism incident, they'll give it a proper sentence.

What if you're needing a goal to win the league, the ballboy refuses to give the ball back, you grab him, push him over, and get the ball back? You get a 3 game ban, but you could have just helped your team win the league. It's a chance I'd be willing to take, but if it was a 12 game ban, and loss of income, I doubt I would.

But the normal ballboy doesn't refuse to give the ball back. He does what he's meant to do, and gives the ball back.

It was a hypothetical. If it's United vs City, at Old Trafford, and Tevez needs the ball back off some kid, of course he'd assault the kid to get the ball back into play with 1min to go. Worth a 3 game ban if Aguero can nick the goal to win the league!

It's not the worry that all footballers will now suddenly decide to go on a ballboy rampage from now on if Hazard is not punished, it's the fact that both players and kids will see physical assault being something that is not deemed that big a deal and is something that can be waived off.
Look at the youth game over in Holland recently, two youth players kicking the ref to death, a line has to be drawn of respect and by allowing it to be ignored that it creeps further and further into the game.

Look at the youth game over in Holland recently, two youth players kicking the ref to death, a line has to be drawn of respect and by allowing it to be ignored that it creeps further and further into the game.

Laugh

If that constitutes physical assault then I am physically assault everyday

I think I'd feel more sympathy if it was a kid just doing his job, like ball boys you see at Wimbledon that sometimes get shouted at.

But he was a bit of a turd too.

I'm sorry but that would never ever happen. #headsgone
