Re: My Perfect Heavyweight...
Would probably go with Chuvalo for the chin Truss, think he mixed in slightly better company than Cobb and took some fearsome shots without buckling.

Re: My Perfect Heavyweight...
Straight right would be Louis, all day and every day. Agree with Jeff about Chuvalo's chin, and I'd take Ali's hand speed over Tubbs without thinking too hard about it (now I have thought about it, I still would!). Always thought that Jersey Joe ranked second to the Greatest in footwork, so I'm going for Ali in that department as well. Might take Evander's heart too, although only metaphorically, of course - God knows what the physical item must resemble. As for intimidation - Louis is up there, of course, but I might take Liston, Foreman (first incarnation) or early Tyson ahead of him.

Incidentally, would add inside game to the list of necessary attributes, where I can't think of anyone to beat Frazier, and would add one question - what exactly is compactability, Truss? Genuinely not sure what you're driving at with that one.

Nice to see the boilermaker getting a shout on durability, make take a while but I'll have him on top of people's top tens eventually.

Why? Surely I'm not the only one who thinks Wlad K throws a fantastic straight right?

Re: My Perfect Heavyweight...
Would put RJJ for speed but I doubt he qualifies as he only had one fight which was for a title regardless
Barring he doenst count Patterson gets my vote
Louis for straight right although Wlad is a decent choice but hasn't proved it liel Louis had
Ali has the best footwork
Chuvalo defo for chin
Tyson for intimidation factor too
Frazier for entertainment maybe
The rest I would probably agree with Truss

You've got me there, Chris. Stewards' enquiry is belatedly announced - this is a tight one, and one heavyweight area in which we have consistently outshone the rest of the world.

Is drawing board purchasing a category?
Audley sadly couldn't be here to pick up his award as he's gone to Staples to buy a new drawing board.

STAPLES had sold out and stated they weren't getting in any new supplies before March to which Audley replied, "Oh well back to the drawing board!"

If Audley goes back to that drawing board one more time there's going to be a national shortage of chalk, Superfly.

Re: My Perfect Heavyweight...
My 18 month old daughter got a drawing board for Christmas. I suspect that if she spent any time playing with it that she would be more likely to be heavyweight world champion than Audley.

Aye though thats only half the reason for the shortage - the other reason would be the police drawing chalk outlines of him everytime they thought he was dead.

For build I'd go Mike Weaver or Kenny Norton......Mackem.

Re: My Perfect Heavyweight...
Norton wouldn't be a big Heavyweight by today's standards (what was he, 6'3" and about 215 lb?) but you're right Truss, he was an incredible specimen. He looked like he'd been carved from marble. Beautifully proportioned and not an ounce of fat on him. Muscular, but not too bulky.
The difference between his physique and the clearly undertrained and slightly flabby Ali's when they boxed for the first time was alarming.

True enough Chris.........But I think people sometimes forget how strong a 215 pounder can be.
Lewis build was good also.......nice compactability.
