Welcome to Season 5 of the Aviva Premiership fantasty rugby game. Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to. If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (Ozzy3213) as to how the situation will be resolved.
Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

And 10 players released back to their clubs later on today.
Good to see Swainston at Wasps get called up to the Saxons, he's looking really good at the moment - very promising player, Leeds do produce quite a few!

I had Swainston for ages in this game waiting for him to come through, and lost him in the split with driver at the start of the season. Gopod player who is coming along nicely now.

That was a great scrum celebration.
Leeds got 2-3 good players in their first team squad who have some potential and a lot of players in the eng age group set up - their players just get poached earlier these days.

They're a poor side.
Joe Ford is the worst professional 10 i have seen. The full Leeds back line was just awful. Jacob Rowen didn't do that much either. There best player was the 7. Something Walker carried well.

Didn't expect PDJ to go to Quins. Mustn't have been happy at Saints or vice-versa.
I suspect Saints will try and go for Henry Thomas if we are relegated which would be a good move for both him and Saints, but would leave them with two props who don't have great injury records.
Daniel Braid was MoM for Sale v Scarlets, could make a big difference for us. Massive game v Exeter. Also within a Anglo-Welsh semi.

More worried about Flood at 10 if that is what they are doing - our midfield is awful, so slow.
Only other way we could play is Farrell, Twelvetrees and shift Barritt to 13.
Wonder what club we will be basing our style on this 6Nations....

I'm guessing it will be 10. Flood 12. Farrell 13. Barritt, the same centre pairing as faced Scotland last year. It doesn't inspire me particularly. I think I would prefer 10. Farrell 12. Barritt 13. Twelvetrees.

If 36 starts I presume it will be Farrell at 10 and a midfield of Barritt and 36, but could be either way round as 12/13.

There is potential for the worst England back line I remember playing on Sat
9. Youngs
10. Flood
11. Strettle
12. Farrell
13. Barritt
14. Ashton
15. Goode
Is absolutely shocking. No way around it for me. Devoid of spark or excitement in any form except perhaps Ashton getting a decent break.
Leaving out JJ and Foden a huge mistake. Will it take Lancaster two games to work out what is wrong again this 6N like last time when it was plain and obvious.

Re: Homepage
I was thinking it could be Farrell, 36 and Barritt - England's game looks to be moving towards having a big pack, strong set piece and then a kicking game that pins us in point scoring positions.
Farrells and 36's boots are ideal for that, especially with Brown and Goode there too - I'm happy with the pack and the bench, but the backline is so uninspiring.
Not going to be exciting at all.

I am surprised at JJ missing out. I know his form hasn't been great, but he's not got much ball in all honesty, and he is the only natural 13 in the squad with Tuilagi out injured. The selection for this weeks looks like square pegs in round holes and I can see this being an absolute shocker of a game to watch.

Re: Homepage
Foden had one bad game in the HC, otherwise has returned in good form, not at his peak but that is one of the worst England backlines I have seen for quite some time. No pace, no creativity.
Should still win as Farrell's boot isnt missing at the moment.

England's game will be precisely that. I saw an interview with Lancaster a couple of weeks back where he talked about territory being more important than possession in international rugby, and that a high percentage of tries were off first phase ball in the opposition 22. He had all sorts of stats on it. Whilst I like attention to detail, I do worry that we may end up playing rugby by numbers, which will be dull, not to mention ineffective against the SANZAR sides.

Goode offers more creativity than Foden, Foden just has more gas.
Foden has had one good game from the games I've seen, mates a Saints fan and he said he's been totally off his game pretty much all season.

He started the season well for us LLL but has faded away. He has been a good signing for glos but for me he lacks a bit of brain and tries to be the hero all
the time.
He has been one of worst players since December.
Don't see how we can not pick JJ due to poor form and then pick 36 who has no form either.
As a glos fan I love to see our players picked for England but I just think 36 is way short of int standard. Hope I am proved wrong.to be fair I would not mind England having a bad 6 nations and us getting rid of Lancaster.
I just think he will fail and is not the man to make us a World Cup winning side.
I will always support England with everything I have but the fact that rob Andrew is still involved and the way we picked Lancaster as a cheap
Option still grates.

Re: Homepage
Can't really recall England using Goode to make use of his creativity - of all the tries we scored against NZ it was off first phase ball and then purely relying on the threat of Tuilagi, either to break through or pull defenders out of the way.
I don't think we are a creative team with Goode due to the way we play, think he's picked because he has an accurate boot on him and can help us play the territory game.
We've got a good pack now, but I wouldnt have a single one of our backs, accept Tuilagi and Youngs near the Lions team, we've got some good exciting players out there but don;t really see guys like May getting a look in under Lancaster.

If we have any injuries in our pack we are struggling. The pack has no depth at moment. You would not want Tom youngs as your first choice hooker or have no Botha or palmer as second rows.
Ditto Backrow.
We have great depth emerging with BV mako and croft coming back but we are really light in experience. If dan cole is
Out who replaces him ............ Wilson which says it all.

Think you might need to re-watch a few games Chris, Goode set up numerous attacks and made loads of breaks, usually from slow/stagnant ball.

Likes of Lawes, Croft and Haskell decent cover for the back 5. TH huge issue, as is missiung Corbs for me.
Lancaster changed nearly 10 players since 6N 2011, unfair to say he's unlikely to bring someone in. He's given plenty of youngsters a shot. May will get his chance in the summer.

Goode not a great full back for me. Nowhere near as stronger player as Kearney or Halfpenny. I'd rather have Hogg as well.

Have watched the games quite a few times, just not really a Goode fan I'm afraid. Didnt really do too much in the games leading up to the NZ game, though thought he did have a good game against NZ.
Just prefer a different sort of fullback, not saying he's not a good player as he obviously is, but would always have an on form Foden over any other English fullback.
Just not inspired with the choice of England's backs - we really struggle if Tuilagi doesnt play as an offensive team.

I prefer a strike runner. I can see the need for Goode as our midfield has been devoid of creativity but I don't like having to play without a strike runner. Re injury foden was very very good and added a spark to England.
Do we honestly see Haskell as great cover in Backrow ? He is ok
Forgot about lawes who is good cover.
Front row cover is hard work.who ends up on the bench if Hartley, cole, Corbs out long term ? It's then we look threadbare in most pack positions.
However we have to work with what we have and IMO take a few punts in terms of bringing in the likes of May Wade etc to train with the first team.
I think Daly of wasps could have a big future in the England set up and could play 13 well. He seems to step up a level every week
