Tsonga loses to Sijsling @Rotterdam - 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-4
Very surprised by the Tsonga result. Sijsling played very well and put him under quite a bit of pressure. Tsonga converted just 1/8 BPs while Sijsling converted 1/5.

Sijs...who?
Was gutted to see Granola bow out.
Dimitrov (lol, my iPad auto corrected that to dimwit) is starting to make more inroads now.

From what I read (Gin &) Tomic was winded in the 3rd set...and Grigor was better player throughout. Tomic just isn't putting the hard miles in...still in party boy mode.

Well Tsonga continues to dissappoint, why can't the french produce a fit and consistent tennis player to go along wih all that style and panache.

Double bagel for Monsieur David Goffin from the Finnish baker Nieminen. Did anyone watch the match?

That is scarcely believable...I see Goffin did 8 DFs in 6 service games, can only presume he had a nightmare at the office. In retrospect this might be the kick he needs as I feel he's not putting the hard hours into the physical development he needs. Bizarre result though. Even more bizarre is that Gulbis won a match!

@Lydian... I am also surprised that Youzhny lost (retired in the third set). I expected Monfils to put a bit more resistance.
Haase can be up and down too. Probably a bad day at the office like Goffin.

I really feel bad for Goffin failing IMBL's quiz, but is it as bad as the double bagel?

Why aren't Djokovic, Federer, Murray or Nadal being mentioned in this thread? This is most unusual? Who are all these other players? I think the moderators will need to take a look at this. Something does not feel right.

Davydenko lost to Dimitrov and he was up a set and break on Federer last year in Rotterdam. for Davy.
@HB... you can partake of the plethora of threads which denigrate the current Top 4. v2 is full of them.

The strangest match (which I could not watch) was Baghdatis v Paire 6-0, (3)6-7, 4-0. Indicates some injury or fatigue issues. ATP site confirms illness for Paire.

Over Sao Paulo Chardy has just lost to an 27 y.o. Argentinian who had only ever won 1 ATP match before today (and that was yesterday)

Ugh, now that Federer has gone off the crowd SO empty for poor Sijsling v Klizan. Apparently 1 hour of Feddy was enough for them. Let's see how many people come back to their seats soon. Not many, I fear.

From the sponsors' official website :
Since 1974, the tournament has been known as the largest and best-visited indoor men’s tennis tournament in the world, with as many as 115,894 visitors last year.
That wouldn't include the WTF, which I think has way better attendance figures. But not sure how valid the claim is in relation to other 'normal' tour events ....(?)

Well they all turned up, just didn't stay that long. Is it really #1 indoor? Why exclude the WTF?
WTF is about 30,000 per day for about 7 days so easily tops that.

HB - No, I wasn't the one excluding WTF - just saying that ABN Amro have seemingly chosen to do so .... their only 'defence' perhaps being that they don't regard it as a routine tourney but more a very limited field, invitation only (or qualification-only I guess) event ....

Nadal currently beating Joao Souza, the Brazillian one and not the Portuguese one Murray beat at the Aussie Open. Disappointingly they've never played each other.
