Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players. If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at it’s discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.
Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the matchday 22's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.
Transfers wrote:
- Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.- Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 3 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. These players must be bid for on the Championship/National League bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on it's own merits before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.- Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
Foreign transfers will unlimited during the off season and 2 during the season. The exact dates of the two transfer windows during the season is to be confirmed.
Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation
Compensation will be paid as follows
£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other
If a released player plays in real life for a team outside of this game he will be deemed to have returned to that team. If not then he will be deemed to have signed for a Championship side. If another manager wants to pick a released player up, they will have to bid for him in the same way as for a foreign or Championship/National League player.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players. Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches. These games will take place once a week. A thread will be put up for managers to name their teams on Thursdays, then on Fridays, managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved). An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.
In addition, each team must have the following:-
At least 10 England qualified players in your matchday 23, and at least 5 of those must be in your starting XV.
At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.
All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).
Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.
If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.
Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.
Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.
Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.
£1.5m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Delons time has gone. he had a reasonable england career. for a year or so was the golden boy.
you cant compare Varndell to Steffon. Varndell has scored some tries this season and has been in decent form yes, but Steffon was the Top 14 player of the year and has been outplaying most opensides in the Top 14 and HC and got MOTM when up against Warburton.

Re: Homepage
To be fair Varndell's defence probably isn't up to international level, but over the last two season's he's become a much better player. Healy says each time he sees him play that if he was more physical he'd be world class.
Shame he's not!
Whenever I've seen Steffen play for England I've always been disappointed with him, but again that is probably me being overly harsh as he's only ever been given the chance when we've had an extremely poor pack.
He's been very good for Toulon, seen him a couple of times out there and the French love him and can't understand why he isnt even in the England squad. Do you think he will come back to England Nick?

Yeh he was disappointing for England but think that was in 2009. He is a much better player now.
I hope he does Chris, but just not sure where he would go. The Armitages have such strong ties with London Irish I'm not sure he would go anywhere else. But he wouldnt want to come back to us in our current state. So not sure.

yeh he did I think.
with Fraser and Burger they don't need him.
Doubt they could afford him as well after signing JJ and Vunipola.

Do wonder whether moving to Sarries will make Vunipola better or worse, you'd imagine he wouldnt start every game.
Sarries are going to be some team next year though.

Not sure money is an issue for Saracens, they have rich backers and appear to know their way around the cap. I can't see him coming back from Toulon really. He would want to be at a top 4 club really, so that's Tigers, where I don't think he's their sort of player, Quins, they have Robshaw and Wallace at 7, Saracens who have Fraser and Burger.

Re: Homepage
Armitage coming back would be good for England though. I think the game against Wales on Saturday showed that you do need a proper 7, and of the proper 7's who are English he is the best by a stretch right now.
Having said that, we'd still have lost on Saturday with him, as there were a number of England players who had real shockers. Was tough watching players who have played lots of Heineken Cup rugby revert to making schoolboy decisions in a big game.

Re: Homepage
yeh there was a lot of things wrong on saturday and armitage wouldnt have changed that.
lack of creativity, mainly from 10 and 12 and the backrow performance/balance were the main issues for me. scrum obviously as well but i am putting that down to an off day from england and a good day for wales.

Re: Homepage
The pack as a unit were poor, and 8,9,10 didn't control the game and take the right options for us. Of the 3 of them, Youngs was most culpable in my opinion. Wood shouldn't be playing at 8, but at least put in real shift defensively. he doesn't offer anything as an attacking force in that jersey though.
Youngs decision making was very poor, and his execution at times matched that. Farrell failed to inspire, but at the same time didn't do a lot wrong. He almost blended into the background really, when what you wanted was for him to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

Re: Homepage
We just don't look like scoring tries. I'd rather us pick more exciting players.
9 Care / Youngs
10 Burns
11 Wade
12 Twelvetrees
13 Tuilagi
14 May
15 Brown
might be suspect defensively but you can guarantee you would see some exciting stuff.

He looks a cracking prospect but he's not really proved himself yet. He had a decent super season last year and a couple of bright signs for SA.
Needs to stay fit really, bright prospect

Lacks bit of power and carrying steve wood no 8 for me doesn't make the hard yards. Hooper and warbs could work with a powerful 8 like Vunipola, Morgan, spies.

Steve, if you can't play an actual 8 then it would be good. Wood does do alright there, but detracts from his natural game at 6 for me.
Fancy giving up one of them for Brown or barritt perhaps?

Decent unit Steve all carry quite well with hooper the best.
However lacks that raw carrying from standing start you need from 8 sometimes.
Great Backrow unit though and great breakdown trio

Was considering playing it in a side of
Marler
Brits
Afoa
Botha
Kruis
Warbs
Hooper
Wood
Dickson
Burns
Morahan
Roberts
Fritz
Huget
Kearney
With has a very big set of outside backs and a strong carrying front 5 so i thought I could get away with it. Hooper and outstanding carrier, probably the best carrying 7 I've seen currently playing.

Steve, only thing I would say about the backrow is that it lacks some dynamism from the base of the scrum in terms of ball carrying.
Wood is a great player and I really rate him - think he should start at 6 for the Lions. He definitely can do a job for you at 8 though.

Who has Hudson on this game?
Little bit surpised Glos picked Hudson over Kennedy. (assuming the rumours are true that they had the chance to sign him but turned it down).
Kennedy has been first choice for Toulon recently partnering Botha. Been looking good. Still dominating lineouts.

Not a great signing by us. To be fair we don't need any ball carriers so a lineout only man may actually help us. Cash is tight at glos and we have signed kvesic. Rumours we are looking at jamie George, saull, tui and Dave ward.
If we are in for saull that would mean Qera off to France. Hope it's not true

i would take him at irish as a squad player and a genuine openside but dont think he would start for us, nor would he for falcons.

Laidlaw be great, would allow Hodgson to develop and give us a top 9 option. Lawson has been dire, no idea how he's an Int.
Yea don't rate Saull at all but looking as we're losing Tui we need to bolster the backrow. As much as I hate to say it he could be a handy squad option.

Yeh he would be a good squad player. I would take him but he isnt a Brian Smith type player. Smith seems to prefer big bulky forwards, his 1st choice backrow recently has been Garvey, Treviranus and Hala'ufia which is massive and full of power, carrying and big hits.

How old is Saull now? Still can't be more than 24/25? Think he could do well for another AP team, but Sarries have really built a team around physicality now and Saull doesn't fit in around that with his style.
