Leinster v Ulster Easter special
First topic message reminder :
It's here at last.
The winner of this one will have one hand and a few fingers on a home semi.
Leinster in decent shape. Missing Bod, Fitz, Redser, Sexto & Ferg from the top 23. Perhaps a week early for Strauss too.
Form is decent too. Can we keep it going?
Ulster have more injuries and less form. A HC quarter the following week. And lest we forget..... (Yes I'm going to use that phrase again)
LAST TIME THEY BEAT LEINSTER OUTSIDE RAVENHILL WAS IN THE SAME MILLENNIUM AS THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS.
Means feck all though. They are a quality side, and well able to give us a shock.....But will they?
LEINSTER:
15: Rob Kearney
14: Dave Kearney
13: Brendan Macken
12: Gordon D'Arcy

Yes, Ulster!!!
Well deserved, and no thanks to dreadful reffing.
How on earth could that go to TMO?!?

Despite Clancy ruining the game we get a tremendous win, c'mon Ulster. I never want to see him in an Ulster game again ever. Ulster were standout playing Leinster and the referee. Brilliant play Ulster brilliant. Cannot stress how much I think Clancy is awful now, how can he get away with games like that
Re: Leinster v Ulster Easter special
Officials give Leinster as many opportunities as they possibly could to win that....to the point that they are going to the TMO despite the ref blowing for full time.
Bring on Saracens.

Well, I've never seen such home town refereeing in my entire life going to the TMO after the FINAL WHISTLE was blown!
Absolutely farcial.

What a wonderful result- we beat the best team in Europe AND the three referees!
With a converted loosehead at tighthead defending a series of 5m scrums! What passion.

Bloody ridiculous. Blow the final whistle then go to the TMO. Laughable. The penalty and yellow against Payne was a bloody farce as well.
Officials looked for every which way to give that to Leinster but we were the better team.

Well done Ulster.
Leinster were shoite. No invention whatsoever. But ye lot were the better team on the night. Excellent defence at the end and the only team who played rugby out there.
SUFTUM.
Game On in the PRO12.

Still beyond the ref, A great win from Ulster the biys were fantastic and when allowed to it was a great game to watch. I think everyone has to be commended and the 2 new guys in the front row were excellant all credit to them. Saracens next week now guys here we go

I dont think so big man. He's from Munster. He'd even rather go with Noordies than Ladyboys. FACT.
Enjoy the win. It was fully deserved. Best team won.
I am in man-love with Gilroy. The boy is no chancer. He's the real deal.

(Edinburgh / Glasgow fan here) how bad is George Clancy? Suspect that when he retires he'll get a stand at the RDS named after him...

By the was it just me or did Leo Cullen do nothing but hold players off the ball stamp on people and complain when he came on?

I suspect he wont be welcome in belfast anytime soon Gibson (Clancy I mean) Gilroy is pure class though his feet are so quick and he actually has great upper body strength too for a wing

Thankyou Gibbo- all class as usual. Can't wait to see Leinster smash Wasps next week.
This win means the world to us. They've set the standard over they years, and left us in the dust last year in the Heino Final. But we've proved now we can go toe to toe with Leinster anywhere. Belfast, Dublin, wherever.
Bring on the Final!

Re: Leinster v Ulster Easter special
Ulster now have the two weaker Welsh sides at Ravenhill and Connacht away whereas Leinster still have to play Munster and Ospreys.
We should definitely finish above them- we can't slip up. Thats our hardest game of the run in out of the way, we only play bottom 6 sides in the Pro12 now. The trip to Galway is the biggest banana skin.

Re: Leinster v Ulster Easter special
So chuffed and so proud of our lads.
What would have happened if the TMO had come up with a different answer? Why did he even go to the TMO? Can you do that after the final whistle?
The ref/TJ review of that match could be even more entertaining than the game.
What about Ricky Lutton and Kyle McCall? Absolutely fantastic.

Re: Leinster v Ulster Easter special
Awesome performance, best since beating Saints. Rory Best was motm for me, closely followed by Trimble but we were outsanding to a man, especially the props who really held their own against an all international Leinster front row.
Leinster were very poor, created very little in attack and were edged up front too. Madigan was fantastic though, the best 10 in Ireland right now but Jackson had a super game too.
Unfortunately I have to say Clancy was a disgrace. Ulster have had some hometown calls over the years but that was shocking, never seen the likes of it, especially at the end were he was literally doing everything he could to hand the result to Leinster.

He just stood up in the heat of it all, Neil. He was excellent.
He is a born international player. He has all the required attributes. Never drops his level.

Ah sure forget Clancy and lets just enjoy how well the lads did.
Just think, we'll never have to listen to Jenny and his,

Brilliant game. Literally could not watch the last 5 minutes.
Lutton and McCall have proved their worth, excellent.
Clancy was an absolute joke (no change there). Seeing the delight on the teams faces at the final whistle (the joys of technology) was the best part

Here's the first Ulster try- great assist by Paddy Jackson;

And the second try for Iain Henderson. Conway gets sucked into pillar defence and leaves Leinster short on the blindside.

Regarding some of the individual performances in this match...
Did anyone else think that D'Arcy was absolutely anonymous? I watched the whole match and can't remember him being mentioned...

Haha that might explain it......
I was just looking at the BBC match report and saw D'Arcy named at 12 and was wondering where the hell he was.
I take it the Leinster centre pairing was Macken and......?

Kearney, D Kearney, B Macken, G D'Arcy, I Nacewa, I Madigan, I Boss, C Healy, R Strauss, M Ross, D Toner, Q Roux, K McLaughlin, S Jennings, J Heaslip (capt)
Is what the BBC listed, I should probably know better than to trust the BBC by now though.

Re: Leinster v Ulster Easter special
What did Leinster fans think of Clancy's performance? I am not one to complain about the referee very often at all, but that seemed strangely one sided. Throughout the game he pinged Ulster for lying over the ball throughout but didn't do the same for Leinster, and those last 5 minutes were crazy. It was as if he wanted Leinster to win the game and was giving them every chance he could to do it.
I'm just wondering if any Leinster fans agree on that.
Also, Gibson, you are totally right about Gilroy.

"On Sat. March 30 2013 George celebrated the return of popular time travel related Sci-Fi show, Dr. Who to the BBC by attempting to award a try to Leinster after he had blown the final whistle, in the "wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey" style of the show. He was not successful."
