Rumour Mill - Mayweather v Ortiz to fight at Cowboys Stadium?
First topic message reminder :
I can't-in fact I WON'T-vouch for the accuracy of this statement, because the site it's from is pretty bloody awful, although behind their terrible writing there's usually a nugget of truth. Anyway, link's here:
http://www.boxingnews24.com/2011/05/mayweather-to-fight-in-cowboys-stadium-by-end-of-summer-says-roger/#more-64787
Long story sport is that Roger Mayweather's apparently hinting at Floyd Jr fighting at the Dallas Cowboys stadium in late summer 2010. If true, the implications are obvious - pack the stadium more than a certain Filipino did, and restate your dominance as the so-called 'cash cow' of boxing.
Of course, uncle Roger could quite easily be saying something just to keep Floyd Jr's name in the media, but the other implication from this is that if Mayweather does fight at the Cowboys Stadium it's a clear precursor to setting the stage for a rubber match of negotiations, hopefully successful, between the Mayweathers and the representatives of the Filipino chap. I forget his name.
Wait and see, eh?

Norwood and John are better than Torrecampo and Singsurat are they not?
................................
They are, but how did he do against Pacquiao lose and drew, Mayweather, exposed, absolutely schooled, never competed, greats compete (Duran v Leonard) just to name 1, he is good, not great

You to advocate him, who is untested at WW over the WBC Champ is either silly in the highest order or a direct attempt at wumming.
Khan has called out Mayweather a few times now, he said want he beats Bradly Mayweather is next. I have stated for some time. Mayweather vs Khan will be a close fight but by 2012 the balance will shift towards Khan and if he fights him then I will have Khan favourite to beat Mayweather.
Khan is a big light welter, and will move up to welter, light-middle maybe even middle.
Khan is more suited to beating Mayweather than Ortiz, a point that you agree with me on, so are you on the wum as well.
Then its best to fight floyd then and not now. He may be big (Jordan probly knows) but he is still a LWW. Ortiz is the WBC champ. Its a no brainer. Why not fight the world champ as opposed to Khan who is looking for a payday. Better still, why not Manny who should prove himself by taking the test.

Flip that around: how did Pacquiao do against JMM? Drew one and barely won the other. A single point separates them over 24 rounds. You say that greats compete, and name Duran and Leonard. Here's a couple of names: Duran and Hearns. How competitive was that one?

Re: Rumour Mill - Mayweather to fight at Cowboys Stadium?
Duran lost to Benitez, Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Laing and a host of other no marks so he can't be great then?
Duran competed against Leonard and deservedly got the decision, Marquez competed against Pacquiao and didn't get the decision many thought he deserved, which is it losing to the best or competing against the best?

I had Marquez winning that fight still do to this day and I've watched it a few times. He's an excellent fighter and could compete and beat about anyone around SFW, LW over the time of his career.

I dont rate Mayweather lol? get me up where i said that oh i forgot your jumping to conclusions big time, i think he's a quality fighter who insists on living in a comfort zone and fighting people he knows cant beat him or have little chance, i think he is brilliant as is Manny, but i think Pacquiao wants the fight more, that Mayweather is genuinely rattled/scared by him and would lose. Marquez? no i stick by what i said, greats dont lose to Norwood, John, get absolutely taken apart and not even compete when moving up weight divisons, ie Pacquiao, Mayweather himself
Mayweathers comfort zone fights in the last few years have included three guys that were all rated in the top ten fighters on the planet at the time. Nobody else can boast that in the last few years. Three of these were also faced by Pacquiao AFTER Mayweather beat them.
Pacquiao has been more active than Mayweather. Thats about it.
Mosely - rated top 5 ranked fighter in the world and the man at welter. Destroyed the Margarito you claim Mayweather avoided.
Marquez - rated 3rd best fighter in the world.
Hatton - unbeaten, rated top ten in the world.
De la Hoya - A tougher test at Light Middle than Margarito after a years ban and beat down off Mosely.
As for your views on Marquez, well, you obviously havent read much boxing history if you think greats are defined on their losses.

No he isn't. Khan will get slaughtered. Floyd is too accurate and will KO Khan in 5. Easy night's work for Floyd. Ottiz is young, strong and highly skilled. I hope the fight doesn't happen as I quite like Ortiz (in a non sexual way obviously). But its business and Floyd will beat every single fighter weighing 154 and below. More to the point, he will fight them at their traditional weight without stips.

i wont mention de la Hoya, as you arent reading what i said, i never mentioned de la hoya, Hatton or Mosley

@BALTIMORA
Im not interested in another 1 of your witch hunts just because i disagree with you, he lost to Hearns, didnt he beat Leonard though and become the first person to do so, that achievement absolutely blows ANYTHING MARQUEZ HAS EVER ACHIEVED out of the water, and Duran would of beat him, but thats another matter.

Do you watch boxing? its just your saying Naz would put McGuigan away in 5, when he couldnt put Manuel Calvo away in 5 who wasnt in the same league as Barry, then you say Mayweather would put Khan away in 5 who brings more strength, speed, hunger and desire to the table than Marquez who he couldnt put away, im genuinely convinced you havent seen them fight, i mean Mayweather's no Hearns with his power is he

Khan may bring strenght ( ), speed, hunger et al but Floyd brings skill and the winning habit. Those two are something he has over all else. Skill kills.
Mayweather is Mayweather. The 2nd best over the past 25 years (after Roy Jones Jnr).

Dear oh dear. Using Naz's performance against Calvo as basis for comparison is hardly sensible. How about use a fight from when he was on form, Kermit??

Late on in Barry's career like wasnt it, the Cruz fight was ill advised, that ruined him, the Barry v Pedroza wouldnt be denied and beats any version of Naseem imo who never had the heart, and just couldnt take defeat then started eating kebabs and currys and running people over

I had an ex from there. Horrible, horrible place. Apparently the Mecca bingo was burnt down. Bit extreme. Even in my local Asda there's a small halal section with stuff like halal Haribo.

It's a good fight for Floyd apart from financially I'm not so sure it is for Ortiz. People are getting a bit carried away with his win over Berto. Berto is wide open and very agressive which suits Floyd. He hasn't got the best chin either.

I think pressure's all on Mayweather, he is expected to win, Ortiz isnt fighting an Hearns like powerful welterweight, if he loses he can bounce back. Obviously, you'd expect him to lose, so what if he does at least he's stepped up, hopefully Roach trains him for the fight, i think Ortiz' speed, strength and will to win as shown in the Berto fight will pose him problems, obviously Ortiz as to deal with Mayweather's all round ability, it makes for an interesting fight as i saw myself in him being tagged heavily by Mosley his reflexes are on the wain, he will be rusty as it will be 18 months out of the ring by fight night if they do fight, Ortiz puts up a better fight than Marquez and a rusty Mosley imo, so its a good fight!. Also Pacquiao shouldn't be fighting Mosley either who is way, way past his best, he should of been in with a younger, prime fighter.

Floyd is not the biggest puncher either. I believe its the best fight out there for Floyd to take. At least he is not fighting an old past it fighter coming off a loss and a draw.

Ortiz is decent but think he needs to prove he is top level. While his aggresion might keep Mayweather on his toes imo Floyd just has to much in way of defence and being able to slip punches and counter.
