Glasgow Warriors v Ospreys, Scotstoun, Friday 19 April, 19:35 hrs
First topic message reminder :
Oh well after the disaster on Friday in Llanelli we need a huge performance from The Warriors against a tough team. Do Jackson and Pyrgos carry the can for Friday or does Toonie stick to his guns - how is that for a mixed metaphor ?
My team :-
Hogg
Maitland
DTH
Matawalu
Weir
Horne
Dunbar
Grant
MacArthur
Welsh
Swinson
Kellock
Strauss
Barclay
Wilson
Bench: Low, Hall, Harley, Slamont, Pyrgos, Reid, Ryder, Jackson

Tipuric is a very good operator, no question. Where is Taff tonite?

P.s. I rate him highly.
Very few potential Lions have enhanced their reputation in this game. Well played by Glasgow though Barclay better than Tipuric tonight.
Who mentioned the Lions? I was asking whether Hogg has had a quiet game.
Hogg is a potential Lion & it's a forum where people discuss these things. If you don't want to talk about the Lions that's fine.
Why not just answer the question then? If you want to start your own question, start your own post! Don't quote mine and go off at a tangent!!!

Can't believe Morrison butchered that try. Worst white line fever at the worst possible time. Fair play to him though he played well tonight and the tactics were spot on.

Here I am!Why wasn't Hogg playing?Tipuric should have been MoM or Glasgow scrummie.Ref certainly helped Glasgow beat an O's side bereft of centres and wings.Even Morrison looked half decent against the side that O's put out.
Grant and the kiwi played well but Tips was outstanding.

I think that if Glasgow can re-sign Barclay this summer it will be as good as any other signing, what sort of progressive club lets an experienced top quality player go when he's only 26, how about we sack some of the useless pieces of shoite at Edinburgh and that'll save the SRU some money with which they can sign Barclay and some decent players for Edinburgh who actually give a toss.

Not an Os fan, but an interested party. I think the back line is missing a number of players. A bit of an excuse, but it really was a make shift back line for them. Lots of players put of position. However, the pack has been awesome lately but failed to get on top tonight. The Os scrum has had the upper hand the majority of times in recent games, but Grant was very good and gave as good as he got, if not better. Duncan Jones is a bit of a weakness at LH and Hibbard going off didn't help.

Tonight has highlighted to me just how good Hibbard is, he just has to be fit for the Lions, although MacArthur would be an ample replacement

He's only 26?! Really? Biggest shock of the day for me. Seriously. No sarcasm. I thought he was about 30ish. Quick google and yes, 26. Unreal.

Have Glasgow not offered Barclay a contract or has he decided that he want's to move on regardless? To be honest I think he's actually playing better currently than I've seen him play for a while,he's obviously over his injury problems.

Barclay easily MOM considering his bad injury the guy has been phenomenal since he has come back, along with Ryan Grant and Maitland have been the guys who enhanced their Lions credentials. Tips only Osprey who held his hand up

Ciao Juve, oh the joys of Scrum 5! Yes, you miss HughDan the Heedrum man but you get to listen to the Welsh commentators marvelling at how good Glasgow are.
It was Munster, second 40, all over again.
No criticisms of anyone they all did their part.
Hope Wee Dunkie is alright, though it looks pretty bad.
Hope 21st, Mrs Schiz and all the other posters are in the scout hut gein it laldy.
Nighty night,

Other than that, Hibbard showed how effective he is when on the pitch, and the way the Os' forward were a shadow of their former selves once Hibbard went off is a kind of endorsement of the guy's class.

Don't you love summer rugby, the 1 game per season that we get?! Much better than wallowing in the mud, even if that is 'the traditional way'!

I agree he did get "wacked" but fair dos to the guy it doesn't happen very often and Tips has been outstanding most of the season, but even so I have said it all season (when they have been injured) a fit and on form Rennie and Barclay are the best open-side options for the Lions

Matawalu just immense once again, thoroughly outplayed Fotuali'i, what a difference he makes to the team.
Second time in two weeks Kellock's defence around the fringes cost a try.
Barclay and Strauss were absolute class.

I thought Barclay had a fantastic all round flankers game though the pace of tipuric for a forward is incredible, his sidestep and go at one point was rococco esq. I wonder if Barclay would have been in the lions mix had he been picked for Scotland, a lot of competition but the form he is in, he would have had as good a shout as anyone.

I'd be careful if I were you, suggesting that someone is better than Warburton and Tipuric is pretty dangerous, it's like criticising Mohammed in the middle east. I have to say Barclay is surely playing himself into lions contention.

Agree Griff
When on top form and fully fit Lydiate IMHO would be a shoe-in with Rennie for 6 and 7 Lions test spots, as good as the rest (of the candidates) are, their individual performances and as a backrow unit would be exceptional.

Yeah but that was when the other options were David Wallace, Lewis Moody and Martyn Williams were who wers never going to play in the 2013 Lions and Ross Rennie wasn't a threat to him because he was injured. Then Warburton, Tipuric, O'Brien and Robshaw turned up, this coincided with his catastrophic loss of form which lasted from 2011 until a few weeks ago.

We played our bogey team that was the problem, Glasgow always beat us home and away. Their to the Ospreys what Samoa are to Wales.
I have walked out of Ospreys games twice in 2 years and both time were at home to Glasgow, their just that kind of team for us im afraid.
I didn;t watch the game, I decided to drive 40 miles to Newport and watch the Dragons V Munster, then drove home and decided to check the result on the BBS website, I really didnt want to spend an afternoon bouncing off walls in my house because I'm watching the Ospreys play Glasgow!

Great to see Barclay back in form, hope he finds a good home.
That was fantastic, giving the defending champions a good spanking. Dismantled their much vaunted pack and their backs were chasing shadows.
I can see why people say Biggar is a creative fly-half.
Grant was outstanding, surely he's done enough to get in as 3rd choice LH for Lions. Maitland showed his potency and could of advanced his case, he's definitely in the mix for a remaining winger spot. Hogg was solid again and showed glimpses of attacking flair, be surprised if Gatland left him behind.
Shame for Weir, hope it's not as bad as it looks.

Actually think that Gatland has to look beyond the usual hyped suspects if the Lions are to have a chance in Australia. If he goes with the expected 'world class' choices the Lions will lose without doubt.

Totally agree McK - but Australia is in the same boat really.
Lots of boys in the Super 15 teams are challenging the Wallaby test incumbents (Mafi, Speight, Mogg, McMeniman, Smith, Lealifaano, Foley) - question is whether Dingo will be brave enough to pick them.

I dont think Speight will be eligible in time, but guys like Mogg and Lealiifano worry me. Mogg vs Hogg would be some match up, but Lealiifano would run rings round Barrit or Roberts.

Grant was the best front rower on show tonight by a distance. Give Barcs and G-Dog a bloody contract SRU feckwits. You want to and have succeeded in fecking the MFLs so sell us to someone who cares please - maybe Brian Kennedy !!!!!
Well done guys against the usual chea--- skullduggery from Hairsprays - in fairness Rolland pinged the cheety Jones.
Great display and Morri (G-Dog), Barcs and Bluto Strauss were unbelievably good . Nico Mata quite good too!

Well done Glasgow.. Ospreys didnt show anything tonight, especially as they had the lions shar of the stats..
Think with remaining games, Ospreys have blown their playoff chances, unless the Blues can turn over the Scarlets, but think that may be unlikely.
Even if they do, with Scarlets having Traviso and the Ospreys away to Leinster, safe money must now be on the Scarlets.
