Haye calls out Fury
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/boxing/4901591/David-Haye-ready-to-fight-Tyson-Fury.html
I think this must be fact as the article actually quotes Booth. There are several other sites with this story, and it does not surprise me a bit!
This is confirming for me as least that the Heavyweight division Uk is more about the "characters" as a selling point. I bet if David Price hadn't lost, he would not be in this mix. Too risky and not enough of a "character" to sell the fight and make big money.
This is simply another wonderful opportunity for David to make a stack more money. He is better as a raw talent, far far better. But, the money is there. What a tart!
Due to the state of the division, Fury is ranked in the top 10 ( which he will say justifies it ), and just had an entertaining fight where he got knocked right down by a former cruiserweight. Whatever the purists say, the fight has and continues to be talked about, not least as Cunningham is appealing the knockout as being illegal ( quite possibly! ). Whatever, Tyson Fury is inFURIating, arrogant, oddly charismatic and very self assured - superb for a marketing PR exercise. He cannot possibly hope to actually outbox Haye, and his only chance is landing a big one - which means David, being much much faster in his reactions, effectively has to make a mistake. David is surely far too ring smart to allow Fury to lean on him and dominate. I actually think a well placed body shot by Haye could have Fury in trouble.
The buildup will be crazy - the tweets, u tube postings, all modern day panto and the public LOVE it!!
David gets to fight a really big bloke in preparation for Vitali, and his stock will rise if he wins well as the German TV companies will be literally screaming at the K's team to do this regardless of how credible the fight in real terms actually is.
Will Fury ( or more pointedly his team ) actually accept the challenge for Haye before he can try for Vladimir or Vitali?
Is this good for HW boxing? - is there really a viable alternative and does this mean to get people interested and large viewing figures we need style over substance?

Whilst I am no fan of Haye if I was in his shoes I would be busting a gut to get Haye in the ring, has a good ranking with at least the WBC and is enough of a character/tool (depending on perspective) to guarantee the fight would sell in good numbers. Add into that the fact that he is eminently beatable and from Haye’s perspective it a an opportunity to make a shedload and leapfrog the queue to get a shot at Vitali.

Agree with Rowley and, more importantly, this potentially gets rid of Fury (although we also hoped he'd put Audley out to pasture as well)
I eagerly await Strongback's comments that Haye is a classless jerk and fraudster who is afraid to face any real competition and, by "calling out" Fury is seeking only to face the easiest challenges before he arranges to s**t himself at the sight of another Klitschko brother (or something)

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Haye can deal with Fury.
For 1 Fury would find it hard to land a punch on Haye and if cruiser Cunningham can find Fury and put him down then Haye would do the same and finish him off, no doubts about that.
The only way I see Fury winning is by taking Haye into the later rounds and testing Haye's stamina.

Genuine question, can someone explain to me what they see in Fury? Apart from heart I struggle to see what he brings to the table ability wise. Have nothing against the guy but genuinely believe on occasions there is something I am missing because whenever I watch him all I see is a heavyweight with little tactical nous, a porous defence, questionable punch resistance and not much in the way of a jab.

If.. and a big if that Furys team accept this. I think Tyson Fury would because I think he is in total belief he would win ( denial )...his team...? It strikes me that Peter Fury is just a bit saner and knows what's going on here - hence his totally realistic comments about the fight last weekend and how badly, not how how well his charge did!

It's a belief borne of desperation as the assumption is anyone over 6'5" is pretty much guaranteed to be a threat to the K's.Rowley wrote:Genuine question, can someone explain to me what they see in Fury? Don't dislike Fury per se but I don't rate him in the slightest. Perhaps he takes on Audley if/when Audley beats Wilder or perhaps he takes on Wilder and we have a fight resembling two IKEA double wardrobes throwing punches at one another

He also has the WORST corner men around today. Who was the clown who had to step in as chief corner man? He forgot what round Fury got decked in and then told him to go out there and pretend he was in a wedding?????????????????????????ahhhhhhhhhh??????????

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Fury is far too easy to hit (and in particular far too easy to hit with an overhand right). David Haye is not the guy you want to be in with if you're easy to hit. If Cunningham put Fury down, Haye would put him to sleep. Tyson is tough but he couldn't take shots from Haye the way that he's been taking them over his whole career. I'd be surprised in he made it past round 3 with Haye.
Like Rowley, I'm lost as to what people see in Fury. Apart from toughness and guts, he's so open for big shots, he's sloppy technique-wise, and he's not even that big a puncher for the giant that he is.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
I think Furys gigantic size is the thing he has going for him the most. Its brings a certain awkwardness with it especially to smaller guys who are forced to constantly move. I guess Cunningham would be the closest thing he has faced to Haye and the first few rounds he tried boxing him and basically couldn’t really match him for skills but after that he began to just walk him down with brute force and Cunningham folded. The shot that ended Cunningham was illegal but at the same time Cunningham was beginning to wilt so I got the impression Fury was going to get him sooner or later anyway.
The closest thing Haye fought to Fury was probably Valuev who I think is slower and less of a puncher than Fury but also more durable and bigger. If Fury had Valuevs durability then I think on the basis of that fight Haye would actually have a tough fight on his hands. But being on the floor a couple of times already to much lesser punchers than Haye would not bode well for Fury. He cuts the ring off better than Valuev though because he is quicker so if he attempted to do what he did to Cunningham in the later part of his fight he could cause Haye problems but he might not opt to fight that way for one and secondly he would be very vunerable to being caught.

That was Big Cliff, Clifton Mitchell, who owns a Security firm (you'll recognise him as a guy that escorts fighters into the ring). Amateur hour just isn't in it.
Haye is such a publicity harlet. I gave Floyd Mayweather some stick recently for taking money fights over his toughest challenges but Haye's something else. This is a money-spinner for him against another guy he should easily knock out (see Audley and Del Boy). You do wonder who exactly is playing hard ball in those Klitschko negotiations.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Would be good on quite a few levels in my opinion.
Would get BIG interest. Haye is pretty much a household name, his fights get alot of interest who ever he's a fighting, a fight with a character like Fury is a marketing dream, would really bring attention to the sport.
Don't know about others, but I'd love the build up, the banter and quotes between the two would be great viewing in my opinion. People moan about the heavyweight division being dull and boring. You can criticize Haye/Fury on certain aspects, but least they bring excitement. Haye is an excellent salesman, interesting to listen to and watch. Fury has basically got interest from sections of the British public because he is also a salesman, he's talked a load of what is basically, rubbish. But that's got people talking about him.
Would be an interesting fight as well. I think Haye wins easy, gets Fury out of there within 6 rounds, but Fury has got some knockout power, Haye is still slightly vulnerable to a big shot in my opinion, and despite his flaws, Fury does seem to have knockout power.
And with all the talk in the build up, both will be guaranteeing to high heaven that there going to win the fight, makes it more interesting that one of them actually isn't going to. Of course it's all about the boxing, but trash talking in the build up makes it all the more interesting in my opinion.

If the WBC et al are going to be stupid and give Fury a top ten ranking then why should Haye be criticised for going after him.
"Haye should fight someone in the top ten"
"Fury's ranked in the top ten"

I will be absolutely amazed if Fury agrees to fight Haye with no world title at stake. Way too high a risk, even if the money is right. He want a shot at the title and a loss to Haye will set that back. Hell,,he didn't exactly do all he could to secure a fight with Price, despite it being an obvious earner.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
I can't see how Fury wins this, the only way he wears Haye down is by pressing the fight and leaning on him like he did to Cunningham, if he tries this against Haye he gets flattened big time. If he tries to box Haye he loses by a landslide as he is so much slower and technically they are leagues apart.

No way will Fury or Hennessy agree to fight Haye, i doubt it would last a round before Fury is flat out on the canvas and they surely know this themselves. Fury only fights little men who cant punch and Saturday night we all saw why, because he is chinny, so Haye being a little man with huge power wont be on the cards for them unless they are offered more money than he will get for being battered by Wlad.

But it is money. Maybe if Haye can grab a belt first. Vitali needs to retire and let Haye grab the belt v a bum. Then Haye v Fury.

Haye will want it now though, Fury has made a name for himself even though everyone with eyes can see he is utterly useless. So the Haye will see it as a very easy way to beat a ranked contender to push himself back into title contention. Lets be honest Fury is nothing but a lumbering nearly defenceless lump of loose skin who ambles around the ring trying to wear little men out. Anyone with skill, speed and a little power is gonna destroy him let alone a fighter of the caliber of Haye.

I don't know why Hennessey doesn't just accept what he has in terms of a fighter in Fury and make this fight. Even the way Mick promotes he should make a few million out of this? This would be a stadium fight, he could get Degale and Eubank junior on an undercard, and Hughie Fury. Fury would get pancaked but it would be cha ching time for Hennessey.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
I think people are too hard on fury, his conditioning could be better although having improved but he is clearly a good boxer, he beat cunningham fair and square, was caught by two of cunninghams bombs and still plowed forward, and you get the feeling he could have made easier work of it if he kept cool.. Tyson has beat some decent fighters and is 24 years of age.. I my self have doubted him at times but I think he deserves some credit.
I see Haye being too quick for him but if fury boxes smart then who knows..

My new neighbour very generously donated me a load of stone last summer (he'd built a pucker stone wall and had loads left). I asked the cowboys who built his to knock me one up. The morning they started I looked out of the bedroom window and saw them going back into the neighbour's garden to remove huge chunks of stone (he was going to build a wall around back) to make building my wall easier. After going out and telling them they couldn't nick that, they said "It'll be alright. Just tell him to ring us if there's a problem". I then had to give the neighbour back the smaller, crapper bits of stone he'd originally given me.
Great wall, though....

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Fury should take the fight. What other options has he really got?
Fight Pulev - get beaten and in a low money fight
Fight Wlad - get destroyed in a medium money fight
Fight Haye - get spanked in a high money fight
Would be hilarious if Fury could pull it off, but I can't see him lasting over 5 rounds as he's just too easy to hit.

Re: Haye calls out Fury
Fury is getting beat soon so might as well do it in a big money fight vs Haye
As others mentioned, easy to sell given Haye's name and fury's mouth, and i dont like either so i dont care how it goes although you'd imagine that Haye ends it early
Hayr is t Cunnigham, hes younger, quicker, bigger and had a hell of a lot more powerful. The ease that USS had hitting Tyson with the right would be huge sign that haye would batter him
Cant see tyson taking it, he already avoided a domestic rival in price after calling them out so i doubt anythings changed

Re: Haye calls out Fury
My wife arranged for a group of similar chaps to come and do our guttering. Imagine my surprise when along came three charmers with their lilting Irish brogue. Full of "top 'o the mornin's soir" and what have you. They did a decent enough job but got very shirty when I produced my cheque book citing cash in hand as the reason they were "giving me a good price". Stated that I hadn't made this agreement I wasn't prepared to part with cash but would happily write a cheque. Things got heated and they threatened to to it all down. I asked if they could do it before I managed to get a police car to the house. They then agreed to take a cheque and then the following night the cheap, chipped, scratched, and generall f*****d plastic wheeltrims on my 11 yr old VW mysteriously vanished!!!!!!!!hazharrison wrote:DAVE667 wrote:The irony being that to keep them out you should probably erect a 6ft high heavy duty fence with a remote controlled gate.seanmichaels wrote:never call out a gypsy it'll end in tears. mate got some to do a small fence and gate (3ft-ish) at the front of his house. they decided to surround the property with a 6ft high heavy duty fence with remote controlled gate. after a bit of aggro he decided he'd best pay. true story.

Problems arose when the guttering between my house and my neighbours started p!$$ing water everytime it rained. Imagine my joy when the neighbours arranged to have their guttering replaced and the same bunch of "honest as the day is long" scamps rolled up!
