Haye Signs With Matchroom
Apologies if this has already been posted but Eddie Hearn has confirmed that David Haye has signed a 'long-term' promotional agreement with Matchroom and will face Manuel Charr in June.
This seems like a good move for both men. Haye gets the Sky platform and Matchroom get the heavyweight they were lacking.
Thoughts?

I just pray its not PPV. Haye shouldn't be on PPV fighting Charr.

It'd be pretty savvy for Haye to not have this on PPV, maybe even the next fight assuming he beats Charr. Get two fights on Sky then turn up the heat, Fury, PPV.

Suggests that nobody would work with Hayemaker after they screwed everybody about so much. Booth was ruthless in his dealings. Now no promoter wants to touch them so they go crawling to Matchroom.
They were fighting Charr then they are not, then its a Pole only trainspotters have heard of and then that fights off. It's pretty clear to me Booth had the MEN booked and couldn't get a fight arranged because his reputation now goes before him.
Booth also has no problem turning his back on BoxNation after they gave him a lifeline.

Looks more like a case of you cant get on Sky without going through Hearn these days. Haye sells so I dont believe no promoter wanted anything to do with him. Haye knows Sky is where he can get maximum exposure and Hearn is doing a good job so far for his fighters.

One two...
Clearly an agenda against the Brits at the moment. If Haye took liberties with the public then he did so because they allowed him. This is the problem with the culture in this country these days...if people don't want to feel ripped off or put out then don't jump on the bandwagon in the first place.
I'm sorry but if you got roped in and conned by the fighter then more fool you..says more about people's intelligence than it does about the man who is in a sport which is perhaps the most calculated and underhanded one in the world today!

Onetwo - I'm glad to hear you didn't get roped into what was as you state a conn...however I have no sympathy for those who did because I simple search of Harrison on google would have told you all you needed to know about the level and grandure of the fight...if people bought into and felt ripped off then it is there own fault.

I wonder why Haye didn't give up promotional profit to Hearn before he announced the fight in the MEN. They formed Hayemaker so they could promote their own fights and make all the money like Hatton and Calzaghe ended up doing. It's out of character that they are now happy to pay the promoter a nice chunk of the promotional profit.
If Haye was able to get some traction he could have forced his way back onto Sky with a strong hand in which to deal. I get the feeling Haymaker just couldn't make it happen this time. The MEN show needs a decent undercard to sell the tickets as well and Hearn can provide this.

Re: Haye Signs With Matchroom
I disagree...
This sport is all about money...to a degree yes it is wrong to to put on such shoddy PPV events and headline fights which would be better served as a back yard scrap down a local pub...
But the simple solution is for people not to fall for the publicity and the hype. If people don't purchase the PPV then the promoters don't make money and the fighters don't get paid....it would only be a matter of time before they thought 'sod this PPV is costing us too much money and we need to stop trying to con the public'

Hearn has essentially taken over Sky boxing and the chances are Haye has to play ball with him in order to get on air. Haye is not in the powerful position he was this time 3 years ago. He has no title, he lost to Wlad and his stock has fallen.

Or they've realised this is the optimum route for getting a massive PPV show in the future when a world titles on the line? Sky is the best platform.

I also think Haye has less of a hand to play with but Haye and Booth were happy to work with BoxNation until now as far as I can see. I really think they must have been struggling with the MEN show. With Hearn having so much control now Booth may have had no choice, that must have hurt his pride. It looks to me that Haymaker has handed the promotion of the MEN show to Hearn. That's significant in my view.

Well Haye has only worked with boxnation once and that was because Warren gave him a good offer to fight a Warren fighter at a time when Haye probably couldnt have fought in Britain without Warrens Luxembourg stunt. Warren and Haye are not exactly best buds but when there is millions to be made for a fight that would ordinarily have been second rate then the deal was brokered. Haye on his own would have no tv deal now so his choice was either go through boxnation or Sky and I assume he feels Sky is the better option. Given the position Haye is in now I think signing with Hearn is a good move.

He'll have a couple of banker wins to get to a mandatory and then he'll have a title fight on PPV. They will build the 3 fights over 12-18 months so the less bright will have time to get caught up in the nonsense.
Must hurt to be giving all that bread to Hearn.

Re: Haye Signs With Matchroom
I don't think this is a big deal, was pretty obvious it was on the cards given the relationship Booth now has with Hearn due to Grooves signing with Matchroom.
This enables Haye to get back on Sky, and allows the Potential for a lucrative PPV fight if he manages to entice Vitali into a match up. It's a win-win situation allowing Matchroom fighters to fight on the Hayemaker bill.
More of a sub-letting deal as opposed to Haye signing with Matchroom.

Hearn is promoting Haye or co-promoting with Haymaker. Either way Haymaker have given up a piece of the pie.
June 29th isn't that far away and Hayemaker must have been bricking it as they had no opponent and no card. They can't have enjoyed crawling to Hearn.
And I always heard Adam Booth was a great business man...........

Amzing how when Hatton's promotional company is in financial trouble, Ricky suddenly decides he needs to find out if he's "still got what it takes" and no-one bats an eyelid but when Haye signs with the promotor who is currently riding the crest of a wave he's once again done something to suggest he's a cowardly pathetic human being. Haye signs with Hearn and Hearn will make himself a shedload of cash. One of his bigger cash cows (Brook) has probably just lost him a small fortune in potential furture earnings so I'd wager that Hearn was more than happy to sign up a guy like Haye who is likely to pull in a big audience.

Dave is making perfect sense here. It's all about good business acumen, not whether you like the fighter or not. Gerald McClellan was a horrible person by all accounts, but the man put bums on seats because his fights were brutal & exciting. Haye's Marmite with the public because of his Wlad antics and not being able to back it up on the night. However, people watch him because of his knockouts - he excites people.
Surely that's what we look for in a boxer? Excitement! That and/or mastery of the technical aspect of Queensbury Rules.

Yes there will be nights when Hearn gets it wrong, Bellew/Chilemba was a stinker...and the rematch won't be any better, but you have to believe that having failed so miserably against Wlad, Haye is smart enough to realise that he's going to have to provide top drawer performances and Hearn knows this as well.

He needs big KO's. That alone will win the armchair fan over. He isn't after us. He's after the I'm a Celebrity cord and that's what he is good at doing, attracting casual fans.
I will only be interested in a Fury fight, tbh. No interest in a K bro as Vitali is past it and Wlad already beat him. Haye won't be able to get Fury unless ch5 drop boxing though.

Re: Haye Signs With Matchroom
So Vitali beats Charr and no-one bats an eyelid. Haye faces him and the panties of certain posters get all bunched up.
If Haye KO's him, what message does that send out? Well, in your eyes probably that Haye has convinced Charr to take a dive but that won't be the case. Some will say Haye KO's a man Vitali wasn't good enough to beat without a Dr's intervention but then, Haye got no credit for dispatching Chisora in infinitely better fashion that Vitali either. However, the truth will lie somewhere beteen the two.
As for top drawer performances, you know it means a clean decisive stoppage without any problems, wobbles etc. Khan gets put on his rear end and wobbled badly at the weekend and people are still blathering on about him facing Mayweather.
Using that as a yardstick for acceptability, Haye could lose every round against Charr headbutt the ref, get disqualified but still face Vitali in Spetember.
Grow up STRONGBACK, you're too old to behave like a jilted schoolgirl

Considered getting tickets for the Haye fight but thought they were a bit over priced...
Then they announced Charr and I thought they were definitely over priced...
Then I saw this: http://www.worldboxingnews.net/news/2013/04/29/hearn-hopeful-of-haye-v-fury-mulls-prizefighter-bill-for-charr-bout.html
And specifically the last bit... Hearn is thinking of making the undercard a Heavyweight Prizefighter...
What an absolute ripoff those ticket prices are if that's what you're getting...

Now that there is a relationship with Hearns of some sort, then a fight between Fury and Haye is not as silly as I thought. I doubt Fury would want it, but Haye would be up for some relatively easy money should he show himself to still be up to it with Charr. Stranger things have happened I suppose .. like Haye vs Harrison!!

Re: Haye Signs With Matchroom
Rob I would hold out on completely dismissing the card just yet, the article suggests that the Prizefighter would be merely a means to flesh out the undercard. That would suggest that a few other fighters will be on the bill too and he has a good set of young prospects who could appear.
I don't actually know how much tickets are...I would guess they start at around £60...for a Heavyweight main event, A prizefighter contest and probably 3 or 4 undercard fights to boot. Wouldn't say it was too bad.

Re: Haye Signs With Matchroom
They are sticking in Prize Fighter because Booth had no undercard. Hell Haye didn't even have an opponent.
There's a smell off that Booth guy now. Seems nobody wants to deal with him.
Hopefully Daddy Hearn stitches Booth up nice and tight and applies a financial wedgie.
