Scotland's Summer Tour
First topic message reminder :
Once again I feel the scots have been overlooked for the Lions tour. 3 selections in a 37 man tour is disappointing particularly with the omissions of Grant and Brown. Clearly Toonie didn't make as much noise as Mark McCall did about his props at Saracens. Why did he champion Stevens and Vunipola and not Brown.
On the plus side it means we will be stronger for our tournament in South Africa and we can now look to focus our attentions to next years six nations and the development of our squad and gameplan. It will be good to have tonks having a run at fullback and we have second row options to replace Gray but we do seem a little short of wingers. Will also be good for continuity to have Brown lead us in South Africa.
How many do people think we will take on the tour, who would you take and what should our starting team be looking like? I'd rather discuss this than the Lions.

Have just had a look at the other shirts macron make, and I've got to say I'm impressed. The Rovigo one is ruined by all the sponsors but that's not macron's fault. I particularly like the Roma one, a nice simple, classic design, no superfluous crap. Should be able to give us a nice simple blue top with subtle styling

The fixtures are:
8 June Durban
15 June Nelspruit
22 June Pretoria
Durban you all know about
Nelspruit is very close to the Kruger National Park, the surrounding areas such as Sabie, Witrivier, Hazeyview, Graskop is beautiful in nature, mostly plantations and farms.
Pretoria is also well known.
If I was a Scotsman wanting to enjoy the country and watch a game I will pick the weekend that SA and Scotland is Llaying which is the Nelspruit fixture.
This will allow you a few days in the Park, a few days driving through the small town of Sabie, Graskop, Hazeyview etc. and then onto the finals in pretoria, then 45 mi tues drive to the airport back home.

Re: Scotland's Summer Tour
I'll have the salad. It has been long since I have been a willing component in the Enslavement and genocide of millions of innocent animals.
Back to the tour. We are in a really good position to blood some youngsters. Guys Like MacArthur should be taking a prominent role with guys like Ford and Hall mentoring him. Likewise Swinson and Ryder should get a shot at some of the games.
I also really want to see Tonks and Grove get the call, in addition to Horne and Dunbar. Heathcoate should feature heavily also.
Scotland will be coming with some strength. Losing Hogg, Maitland and Gray to the Lions is a good thing since they are young players and will learn a lot from the likes of Halfpenny, Bowe and POC and will come back to Scotland better players I have no doubt, but it presents us a chance to blood youngsters whilst leaving behind some of the mainstays to rest in preperation for the Autumn tests when we can show the Lions how to beat Australia

Re: Scotland's Summer Tour
In some ways it won't be a bad thing for Scotland to have so few players on the lions team. They have a big competition in SA and want to make the final.
As a team beating Samoa and hopefully going hammer and tong at SA in 2 matches will be much more valuable to the team then 2 or 3 more players playing dirt tracker rugby against 2nd XV super rugby sides.

Re: Scotland's Summer Tour
Was looking for Joe Ansbro updates on LI forums and found this older post, seems very positive!

"I did some Q&As with Joe up in the corporate boxes before the game. He's in very good spirits and the recovery is going excellently - says he'll be back training with the lads before the end of the season which is fantastic news. I got the impression he won't be playing matches but with a full pre-season behind him, I look forward to seeing him next year.
First time I met him to - what a charming fella."
