First topic message reminder :

Just somewhere to drop random comments on the matches outside the draw and picking threads.

Youhnzy got a good win over Fognini today winning in 3rd set TB.
Wawrinka continuing his good form with a win over Popsicle.
Paire and Monaco have also won.

However, THE match today has to be Djokovic vs Dimitrov at around 7pm UK time.
Can Grigor take heart from recent matches to keep pushing on?
Can he pose a serious challenge to Djokovic on lung-busting clay?
The faster altitude should help Grigor who has a fast serve and flashing groundstrokes.

Is it though? It's noticable that the same comments have been made about Fed and Novak this week and Murray at Miami. Don't you think that we've actually been spoilt with tennis that the 'big 3' have given us over the years and hence we then do not give players like Ferrer (and Murray at times) enough credit

I'm still amazed how the 2011 / early 2012 form of the 'big 4' got just a mere shrug of the shoulders.

We should treasure it as we won't see four players performing as well as that for 18 months for a long time

I would still expect Rafa to win, but thats simply because he is simply a cut above Ferrer with no match-up flaw. Thus in normal condition, he will win, and in abnormal conditions, he should still win. Only in injured conditions can Ferrer be seen as having a chance.

If this goes to three there's only gona be one winner.

In fact I'm expecting Ferrer to start choking at any point now.

Personally I don't disrespect Ferrer. I think he is an amazing competitor. But it is just crazy to expect anything other than a Nadal victory given the 17-4 head-to-head (and 3 of Ferrer's 4 victories were on hardcourt).

I wasn't meaning you Very Happy Us Murray fans suffer enough from the same disrespect for our favourite to join in with the 'bear baiting'. But the record's incidental - of course Nadal will probably win. My problem is if you look at the comments that Ferrer gets, say during the last 6 months, you'd think he was jobbing 51st ranked player

This is woeful stuff from Nadal TBH, where's any semblance of his form gone? The BH is awful, his movement is poor and he just looks as flat as hell, its like he's going through the motions and doesn't want to be out there. This is Ferrer's to take...

Continuing with that metaphor, the carriage is beginning to look distinctly orange...

I think that would have hurt anyone JHM. Perhaps only Djokovic would have got over that one quickly enough to regroup for the TB, and maybe not even him. As for the third set, again only a select few would have come back fighting. I am very disappointed in Daveed though.
