He's going out on loan next season apparently was rumored to Dortmund but they only wanted a permanent deal so more likely a medium spanish side , Valencia/Sevilla etc

I wonder if we'll ever see Courtois play for Chelsea. He's a brilliant GK, and whilst getting gametime in Spain is great, you wonder is blooding him in England for a season would be more beneficial in the long term for Chelsea

He's getting CL football and Chelsea at worst can shift him for a large fee

Each way, they have a small problem. On one hand, he's not getting experience of English football which, as we know, de Gea has struggled greatly to adapt. On the other hand, he'll get experience in Europe with Atletico.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I don't see why they would want to sell him, he's one of the best young GK's in the world, and Cech ain't getting any younger
I suppose European football is a plus, but if I was a Chelsea fan, seeing how De Gea struggled to adapt, I think I'd rather he had a season here on loan, to test him out

Petr Cech is only 31, probably just reaching his peak as a keeper.

Holt would be a class signing for Palace IMO tbf. He could be that solo striker, with Phillips and Ince on the wings if they sign them both!

Holt has never and will never play at his best as a lone striker.
If I was Palace I'd be looking at better if I'm honest. 32/33 he's past his best, if we can get a decent fee for him I'd sell

I'd say 3-4m for Holt is what I would accept. If we're gonna sell him this summer is when we will get the most for him.
If Palace are signing him to play the lone striker role they might be disappointed. Not his game, even under Lambert he struggled by himself up top. Hell if you look back to his Rochdale days always scored as part of the two with Rickie Lambert

delighted that Wanyama's move to Southampton looks like it won't materialise. Wanyama is a great player but you don't go to a team like that from Celtic. I've taken poos bigger than Southampton:)

£7 million is a bit too much surely for an uncapped 25 year-old?

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
He can be a good player on his day - however Liverpool are supposed to have top 4 aspirations. He's NOT top 4 calibre, else he'd already be there in Spain. I honestly don't think he'd get in the Russian top 4, never mind the English one.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Long term when he's what, 30+? Suarez doesn't fit in a long-term vision, their academy is empty, and they have 6-8 completely untested 18-25 year olds in their first team squad. They've gambled on a bunch of kids, and it's a huge mistake. Darren Bent would be a better signing for Liverpool than Aspas. He's a better finisher, and he's hungry for a chance at the top, and would thrive alongside Sturridge and Suarez. In fact, why sell Andy Carroll to bring in Aspas and Alberto? I'd rather have Carroll.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Agreed, you have Javi Martinez with only 12 caps and he was bought for 40 million and plays for Europe's best team. Though he is only 24, Spain don't have the monstrous player pools Brazil and Argentina do so the spread of those caps is shallow.

I do wonder. Suarez last season was head and shoulders the best player at that club. Embarrassingly so it felt. I cant see these lads filling the void. Then again he hasnt gone so it may be just to flirt with the first team and build on potential.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
At the moment we have five forward on the books, with presumably 1, possibly 2 slots to fill the gaps. I think Suarez is gone unfortunately, I can only hope we spend the money well.
Coutinho could be a real star next year, he looked top class for half a season so I'm hoping he can keep it up, he could grow to replace Suarez.
I have big worries about next season, if Suarez stays and is happy then I can see the team doing quite well, otherwise it will be yet another season of rebuilding.

Apparantly Cardiff have agreed a fee for Tom Ince, although this smells of someone trying to start a bidding war

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Newcastle need a lot more than Tom Ince to get them back on track. Like an owner who cares about the club, a management team that knows its own players' names, a coaching staff that can turn up for work and know what's actually going on at the club, and players who are committed to the team and its fans. I think the only thing Newcastle have going for them right now is their fans, they are the only part of the club that hasn't been ruined these last few weeks.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Yeah, I would not pay £10m for Tom Ince. Ashley is now going to have to pay those kind of fees for British players, if we've abandoned the foreign policy, which hiring Kinnear seems to suggest. Bent, Tomkins, Hughes & Ince are all targets but how many we get now after the last weeks shambolic display is beyond me. I think we will struggle to remove some of the deadwood who are terrible.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
The fact the big clubs weren't willing to pay the reported 8m in Jan for Ince tells a lot

Birmingham confirm Adeyemi on his way, but also 2 bids accepted for Nathan Redmond, plus they're close to signing 2 defenders on loan. #ncfc
Seriously hope one of those bids is from us. Would love to sign him
