Fergie was converting him into a CM/AM anyway instead of a striker. And Scholes wasn't exactly the best mover either Wink

I know this is only media reports but Everton are closing in on a deal for Wigan's Antolin Alcaraz. This is the very kind of transfer that I was fearing for Everton fans under Martinez.

Going back for his old players, in my opinion, is an absolute no-no......not good enough

Got rejected already which is a surprise for a man out of contract next season expect they will sell around 6-8m if sensible

Few rumor suggest Fellaini will sign a 4 year deal at Arsenal when wenger returns from Holiday/Trip? thumbsup

Celtic rebuffed 8m from us in January, so I doubt they'll take that low an offer. Will be looking for the same amount I reckon. Expect to see him linked with us in the next few days to try and get larger offers in for him...

Didn't Norwich has a failed bid of around £8m for him back in January. Okay, his contract is running down but I don't think Celtic are going to be too bothered about losing four or five million on him by keeping him another year.

Fellaini at Arsenal just doesn't seem a good fit. He's going to look out of place, surrounded by small, quick, flair players, who will be using a slick fast passing game to break teams down. Fellaini is technically good but not at that level and all he would bring is physicality to Arsenal, preventing them from being bullied away from home and help them at set-pieces. I don't see that at all, especially for the rumoured £24m......

Tottenham are apparently going go try to sign Gareth Barry to replace Scott Parker. Very odd, Parker is still a much better player than Barry, and I presume Sandro will be the first choice defensive midfielder anyway.

Barry gets a fairly harsh rap sometimes, but I'm not sure why Spurs would sign him. Not sure he's better than Parker tho, who has really lost it imo

Hull City having had bids rejected for both Gary Hooper and Kasper Schmiechel will bid once more for both before going after other targets .

Charlie Austin is still in the frame , who is apparantly a Celtics target also should Hooper leave .

Barry to Spurs is embarrasing and if that's true, then AVB should just pack his suitcase for PSG. Bale should do the same but to Madrid because that is not going to leapfrog you into a top 4. Parker & Sando are leagues ahead of the slow, mistake prone, side-ways crab. Barry is finished at the top level and he got found out massively last season. Oh dear Spurs.

Interesting to see whether or not the Torres to Barcelona deal for £17m is legitimate. Chelsea are obviously confident about Cavani, hence why they have been offering Torres around Europe like a flu jab. Torres to Atletico or Barcelona sounds about his only viable destinations.

Parker hasnt lost it, hes just not as glamorous as Sandro. His pass to Lennon in the Spurs Arsenal game is still annoyingly ignored. They dont appreciate graft at Spurs and Parker grafts more than any player Ive ever seen. Should never have left Scotty.

Papers today linked West Ham with loan moves for Ba and Zaha. Cant see the latter being true (and, much to the chagrin of Mysti Im sure, I wouldnt be too interested) and Ba would be ridiculous. No doubt we'll try, Sullivan loves to try these deals, but its indicated as not to do with the Carroll deal and I cant see Ba playing off to the right whilst Carroll runs up top alone.

Parker is class. Just watch him against Man City last season. Everything you want a Center mid to do. Pass the ball well (doesn't lose it) holds his position well and reads the game superbly well. Also wins a lot of tackles. He is a class center mid and wouldn't look out of place at any side in this league. Tottenham would be stupid to get rid of him.

I think he obviously went backwards after that injury that kept him out of the side for a while, but I felt he was getting back to his best towards the end of the season. He's a good player, much better than Barry.

Andre: "I'm very serious, and don't call me Schurrle"

To be fair, Moses had a pretty decent season last year for us but just think he is lacking in a bit of overall class that would make him a genuine consistent weapon for a top 4 side. Would be a great signing for Everton or West Ham. Then if he leaves, and Piazon ends up on loan somewhere again and KDB sounds like he is leaving on loan/permanently somewhere in Germany then 5 players in Schurrle, Juan, Eden, Oscar and Marin to cover the three attacking mid/winger positions is about right.

I think Moses is actually a pretty decent player, relies on his physicality a little bit but I'd happily take him at Liverpool.

De Bruyne will go, which leads to the question of why they ever signed him? They didn't even give him a chance.

I just think Schurlle is a waste of money when a group of Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Moses, Marin, Piazon is more than enough, and yet they lack real quality up front and in central midfield as well as needing cover at right back and could do with a world class central defender as well.

Following the Schurlle deal, Chelsea have decided to end their interest in Cavani is what I'm hearing. No offers have been made for Torres and they feel that Madrid & City can offer Cavani a bigger contract in terms of wages. Mourinho has also revealed a centre midfielder is now a top priority for this summer.

It really was a case of Torres being the key to any deal for Cavani. Still surprised by the Schurlle deal and can definitely see Moses at Everton.

Well that makes no sense. A top class centre forward is arguable the position they need the most, they needed it last summer really and Demba Ba is only ever going to be a stop gap option. I agree that central midfielder should be a top priority, but they obviously need a top striker as well, unless Lukaku is going to be given a real chance and it comes off then they're going to go probably the whole year without a world class striker, and worse than that miss out on probably the summer where the most strikers are available, particularly the likes of Gomez and Higuain who will be desperate for World Cup places.

It could happen, but personally I think he's a little too light weight to work. He'll get bullied off of the ball too easily, the central areas tend to get packed out in games and Oscar could get lost. He can work much better out wide or in an advanced role.

Even though the first Marin is there, and they still have Kevin De Bruyne on their books as well. I think Chelsea just enjoy taking young European talent and letting them waste.

Chelsea love having all the options. Cant wait to see which player Mourinho decides to "Joe Cole" and suck the life out of him.

Oscar is too lightweight but its the right idea, they need someone more natural at holding the midfield than Lampard to stop Ramires having to be any sort of deep playmaker. His energy and workrate are brilliant but discipline needed alongside

I think Moutinho would have been perfect for Chelsea, and a much better use of £20 million than an Schurlle, although I appreciate they might not have been able to compete with Monaco due to the tax situation.

I think they really need two very good central midfielders, Mourinho liked to play with two pivots at Madrid, and he had two of the best with Alonso and Khedira, but he simply doesn't have the options at Chelsea.

Lampard and Ramires aren't disciplined enough, Mikel is too slow, Essien is past it and is better utilised as cover in all areas, Luiz I think will continue to be used as centre back and I doubt he'll last long at Chelsea under the disciplined Mourinho.

They need a very good deep lying playmaker and a very good defensive midfielder. Alonso is rumoured, but as a Liverpool fan I hope he wouldn't move to Chelsea. Moutinho as I said would have been perfect. Gundongan, if they can persuade him would be a good option, as would Fabregas. Daniele De Rossi would be an excellent defensive midfield signing, or even Vidal.

Not sure who is out there that would come.

Hoping these young lads will be good.

Would also like Lambert to give 1or2 of the young lads who the next gen series.

Give them a go in pre season.

Don't know if it's been pointed out but Ronaldo has actually denied today that he has signed any deals with Madrid. A few possibilities we could draw from this:

1. He's trying to draw in potential buyers, such as Manchester United, Monaco or PSG into signing him.

2. He's trying to scare Real Madrid into offering him the big contract he is demanding, so as to be the highest paid player in the world.

I think the second one is the most likely, I can't see Ronaldo moving from Real Madrid this summer, and think he's just posturing to get a new contract. I think he'll have cooled off on a move back to United now Ferguson has gone as well.

Aston Villa could possibly try and move for a Gareth Barry return? Not sure how welcome he'd be back at the club, but he'd be a decent older player to have at the club. With Fernandinho at City, I think Barry will find it more difficult to get a starting spot, and if he's willing to take a substantial wage drop to the club that made him it wouldn't be a bad deal.

I doubt Villa will look to bring in Barry, or experienced players. Lambert never really believed in bringing in experience when we came up, and last season. Think he wants really hungry young players, with the legs to be able to play high tempo stuff

I understand all the points that were made about the Chelsea team. My feeling is that Shurrle may play up front more often if we don't sign another striker or perhaps he will play up front anyway even if we do. I think he is a very exciting and great signing personally.

Which is weird considering the over 30 Holt was your best player.

He was, but he wasn't actually a Lambert signing. Although Holt generally played up top alongside a Jackson/Wilbraham who would do the lion share of the work (running the channels). It's why Holt doesn't work as well by himself up top, and never has done really

Crimey, I think Mourinho is going to use Lukaku a lot this season, make him the next Drogba. Yeah, there not world class but does that guarantee success...no. The plan was to use Torres in a cash deal for Cavani but they did not want that. Apparently, Chelsea met the Cavani release clause and wanted deal done but they got put off because there were no offers for Torres. Further problems included  Cavani`s agent delaying until after the confederations cup, allowing Madrid/City to step in with higher wages, something Chelsea could not offer if Torres was staying.

Agree, this is a great time for signing strikers but if Cavani is unavailable with Madrid now entering discussions, are Higuain or Gomez superior to Demba Ba or Lukaku who are proven 15+ a season EPL strikers? Not in my opinion. Central midfield is the key for Chelsea and Gundogan would be a great addition.

Id expect that would explain the crap about Barcelona/Arsenal being interested in him, Seems most are after El Shaarawy
