How's the day been so far?

Great , it's a glorious day , got some nice prezzies and going out for lunch with a couple of mates in a few minutes ( not to much beer ) and then out for tea with the wife and kids about 6ish .

How is it there ?

Just the local for a few games of pool and darts and a beer and sandwich .Only going for an hour or two at the most .

Out later to a nice restaurant for our anniversary with the kids .

Did get the SoO time sorted out ?

Yeah, it's 8pm... same time as the Lions game but no big deal. They'll have it on the TVs at the ground (near the bars) so I'll pop in at HT and check the score. Did you get your stream sorted?

Hopefully wont know until its on , both fb and youtube showing it apparently but we will have to see wont we ?

OMG I have let my son do my Superbru picks and he has gone mad and picked some upto the 13th June !

He did look at the tables but it was names and colours i think, he's only 9 but he has picked and managed a fantasy football team this year .

Not sure what it is ( maybe the magic weekend disappointment ) but i just can't seem to get excited about any sport right now .

Maybe i should stop watching for a few weeks ?

It's usually a great night over here ( i have been to quite a few ) and with all the ex pats and the local fans i would think it would be a good night .

You would probably get to see Whitlock and Nicho aswell , would the crowd be biased toward them ?

The crowd can get to some players and put them off their game .

Do you think you would go watch it ?

Not sure. My sports budget has maxed out for this year. If it's on TV I'd probably watch it. It's easy to get carried away with the excitement isn't it?

Yes it can end up costing you a fortune can't it ?

Yeah, the ANZ Gold one is quite a lot (about 900 quid) but 40 great games (league, union, AFL, football) is worth it wouldn't you say?

Yes... quite calm now. Just exhausted from watching all that sport at ANZ.
I had a great success rate following my teams until about this July... then it went all downhill!

I did yes , close game quite a few mistakes but then with so much riding on it you would expect that wouldn't you ?

Huddersfield get to pick because they finished top of the table and won their prelim. semi-final?

The Club Call is a stupid strange thing .

The pick goes to the highest finishing team in the league who then go on to win their qualifying playoff game .
So even though Huddersfield finished top of the table they lost their qualifying playoff game to Wigan ( who finished 3rd ) this then ment if Warrington ( who finished 2nd ) beat Leeds in their qualifying playoff game which they did they then become the highest ranked team and get the club call ....so it is Warrington who get to choose who they play between Huddersfield or Leeds . It is a stupid system

Warrington have beaten Huddersfield 3 times this season so i would expect them to pick them , plus no one wants to pick Leeds in the playoffs . I don't think any team that has had club call has gone on to win the grand final ?

Wasn't that Liverpool game frustrating. Went to bed at 0-0 (after Sturridge was brought down... should have been a pen or a free kick just after that?) and woke up to the bad news.

It's on early Thursday morning here. All these comps make it hard for me to make my SB picks. If a team wins their CL match or Carling tie... do they rest players for the Prem? Or do they try and juggle the squad around depending on the opposition and the competitions they are involved in and save the best for the PL and CL?

The bigger teams tend to rest players for the carling and fa cups until the latter stages although i do think Liverpool v Man Utd will be different as neither will want to lose to the other . I tend to look at who a CL team is playing next in the PL after a CL game before picking to try and judge which game they will play their strongest side in .

CL is the be all and end all for them as it is for so much money between 15 - 30 million depending on how far you get .

When you would rather finish 4th in the league then go all out to win a cup money is spoiling sport isn't it ?

Not sure. There's just too many cups on offer. I know there is so much tradition in the leagues and lots of money in the big European cups, etc... but it does make it hard to judge a team's performances from week to week, doesn't it?
