First topic message reminder :

Jayawardene does bugger all but scratch around for 18 balls looking horribly out of form, then comes down the track and smacks the bowler straight over his head for a six. Class!

Ball again. Jesus umpires, get on with it

The Kulasekhara move isn't quite working the way Mathews hoped it to. Kula is trying to slog, but not connecting with most. The hundred for Kumar Sangakkara. Fine knock.

Another decent over by Anderson until the final ball. He's only got 1 over remaining so will probably be saved until the last.

Sri Lanka need 76 of 10 overs. James Anderson can bowl only one of those 10. The 5th bowler also has 1 left, so does Graeme Swann. So Broad and Bresnan have a job to do.

ah well, it shows England how badly this approach , planning and coaching is.

they need a better line up , different game plan and better bowling.  not in the same class and being shown up on their own turf.

This game is all on Bresnan/Broad as Swann/Anderson only have an over left each

As I type Bresnan goes for 4, not looking promising...

Bowlers aside from Swann and Anderson have been poor, middle order bailed out by Bopara again.

England can beat NZ but not if they play like this.

Pah, 2 sixes in a row for Sri Lanka. Too short by Swann. Bowlers have flucked this up. Well done to Sangakarra.

New Zealand v England is probably a quarter-final now. Weather is sh!te in Cardiff on Sunday, England might be done.

For some reason i got caught up in the thinking that teams dont hit 300 any more.. Nope - fact is they do on the oval. We royaly have feicked this up.. Root needs to open I cant say it enough. He is busy. We need to start with that intent with his quality of an all round game

How funny is that as well- They bring on the pinch hitter. What a brave and positive move. Something England would never do. And we lose.

Well played SL you have exposed us and you deserve it. We still dont get this game.. Hopefuilly we will learn

Hope Finn comes in next game for Bresnan. Bresnan is very much hit-and-miss with his batting - he's often required for a mere slog in the last few overs - and Finn is a much greater threat with the ball.

NZ - 3
Eng - 2
SL - 2
Aus - 1

Top 2 go through, England will have to win to guarantee a semi-final place, a draw leaves it up in the air, a loss and England are out.

England were on track for a higher score before the middle order failed. The problem this game was the bowling after Swann and Anderson, and the middle order.

Bowling was too weak today. 265 should have been more than enough, 293 should have been a stroll for England. Not the batsman's fault.

Nope. I am not. and i dont blame the top order i blame the system and the selectors and the rigidness of it. As i have mentioned a zillion times over. This just proves it over again. As every game we do proves it!
