Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
First topic message reminder :
Jayawardene does bugger all but scratch around for 18 balls looking horribly out of form, then comes down the track and smacks the bowler straight over his head for a six. Class!
Ball again. Jesus umpires, get on with it

I think its the right call. Even the NZ commentator has to admit it.

This would have been easy now without that collapse.
Instead the batting side are probably favourites.
Definitely if Bres returns.

Think Williamson was rather unlucky there. Deserved a bit of luck after that effort, but not to be. Someone need to do a Bopara to get New Zealand over the line. Then need 31 of 12.

Broad finishing well here.
Still a decision for Cook...who bowls the last two ? And in what order ?
Jimmy one obviously , but...

Bresnan's going to continue here. Anderson will be bowling the last over. So this has to be the over for NZ.

Corey is caught by James. So only one Anderson remains in the frame of the game.

More dross from Bresnan.
Anderson is really up against it because of his performance.
Let the team down badly.

All on McCullum2 now...
Going to need a big last over.
Bresnan underwhelming , but better than the previous over at least !

NZ need 23 of the last over, don't think they have a chance against Anderson.

Well we have seen Jimmy go for a few at the death before.
He will fancy defending twenty-two though...starts with a wide
Better next ball...but now a four...
They still need sixes...
And three of them.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
One can't help but think about that non-no-ball call against Wiliamson. Thought it was a no-ball, had it been given, Williamson would not only have stayed on, he would have got a run, an extra run for the no-ball, and a free hit as well. Simple here for Nathan McCullum, just 3 6s of the last 3 balls.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Great batting at the end.
Bigs hits and taking their chances in a way England couldn't
I sort of feel eng should be out really. NZ stand a bette chance of doing well.
Congrats eng but far from convincing.
At least Anderson got revenge for that six.

I think on the replay, its very close but its just behind the line.
Game over, England win by 10 runs and go into the semis. NZ left praying.

Well done lads!
Not played brilliantly, but we're through. Now hopefully the middle order will turn up for the semi final!

Hard to argue with the result really.
Williamson briefly threatened an unlikely victory, but NZ left hoping for rain more than their own win.

Oh come on trebs , you can relax now...save your reverses for the SA game
NZ now want Australia to save them.
Perhaps they can lend Ronchi back to them ?
I am back to bed for a couple of hours kip...night all.

Ok Alfie. I do think eng are genuinly not there at all in this tournament though. It is hard to see them getting further than the semis.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Perhaps NZ were unlucky with the KW no-ball call, but they should regret the drop catches and top order batting. Alastair Cook was put down no less than 3 times and he ended up top scoring for England. The top order, Ronchi in particular, batted really poorly, and skipper Brendon McCullum also showed no intent with the bat. Fair enough result in the end.
But I hope England would quit being stupidly stubborn and play the much better bowler Steven Finn ahead of Tim Bresnan in the semifinal.
Unless Sri Lanka win massive against Australia tomorrow, England should top the group and play South Africa. If Lanka manage to win and drag their NRR over that of England then England play India.

Interesting footnote.
If England top the group and their semi is rained off, England would progress to the final.

Both Williamson and Taylor can feel slightly hard done by with their dismissals but ultimately both correct I think.
