Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
No one watching?
Wales holding on very well for the first 15,
Scrumhalf is excellent
And it looks like Wales have butchered a try scoring chance form a clever lineout move

Welsh scrum is looking good
It is great for the future that our U20 props can push around the South Africans, last year it was even stronger and dismantled the Baby Blacks easily.

After 20 minutes of intense defence, Wales are the first to score with a touchline penalty

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
South Africa miss their first attempt at goal
The Welsh U20 coach obviously takes a lot from Gatland/Edwards. Similar style of play to the senior side
Strong scrum, attack plays of lineouts, big carrying from 12, a 13 orchestrating the blitz and a backrow looking to compete physically at the breakdown.
It has been very effective at this level over the last few years
Anyone remember the new U20s coaches name?

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
Rhodri Williams is having an excellent game, god I hope he keeps up his improvements - he will play for Wales if he does.
Amos make a break in open play, can't get round the last man to make the tryline though
Jordan Williams did similar earlier, 2 very good counterattackers in the backline.

Wales scrum dismantles the South Africans, and this should be a fairly easy penalty close in near the posts

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
Wales are starting to get a bit outpowered at the breakdown, the SA players just look bigger - wales need to be getting to the breakdown a fraction quicker, they seem to be standing off a bit too much, obviously a strategy that can be changes at halftime.

All the hard work let down by p*ss poor defending at the lineout.

South Africa reply with a sneaky throw to the front of the lineout, Wales caught napping and the SA no4 looks to have powered over.

The SA lock who scored that try had to be at least 35 years old!

Wales are right in this and all to play for - Steady heads for a couple of minutes then regroup

Jordan Williams magic almost creates another try
Again the last line defence saves SA with their FB covering across quickly and running into touch.
Wales mess up another lineout, not straight. :/

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
SA dominated for the first 15, but didn't score
Wales took control for the rest of the half
Poor defending at the lineout and then a few dodgy throw ins have cost them though.

Still all to play for - At least Wales will believe and they are giving it a good go against strong opposition - Mistakes will happen and perhaps the composure isn't what's required at the moment.

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
This ref needs to learn the rules, how can you enter a ruck from the side when there is nobody challenging, it should have been a penalty for Wales and the line out should never have been, very frustrating.

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
Composure for sure, if Wales keep defending and scrummaging the way they have been, they will be in this game
Amos, Jordan Williams and Rhodri Williams look electric in the backs.

Ieuan Jones is controlling really well at the base of those moving scrums, perhaps we can fly him out to Australia to teach Faletau and Heaslip
The Dragons have got some quality players in Ieuan, Amos and Dixon.

It is so important that we have consistent refereeing, the South Africans are having the game given to them with some of the reffing in the first half, let's hope for some more accurate refereeing in the second half.

Wales pinged, fairly harshly for not releasing the tackled player

SA fullback has saved their necks a fair few times now
Excellent kicks into space by the Welsh 10 and 15.

Bit of inpatients there from the Welsh getting too wide too quickly and run into touch

Wow!
Really, really good play for Wales, and Ellis Jenkins score the try
Jordan Williams with the flick pass for the assist, but that was a team try, some excellent build up.

Argg!
SA strike back immediately
Some poor defending from Wales then, and SA really looking to up the intensity from the restart
Wales need to prevent them from getting the momentum now.

Re: Wales U20s vs South Africa U20s
Good to hear about Jordan Williams playing well. I'll be honest, I know he has apparently been doing well in this tournament, but I was still a bit miffed as to why Amos was moved to the wing after his lovely try last time out. Still, happy to be proved wrong, so fair play

My fear is those three will have to move on to get further international honours. Much like Jon Evans probably should, after the Tavis Knoyle and Lloyd Williams constant love in.

Well if they keep improving then they should lift the whole Dragons side, that will make them difficult to ignore.
The Wales side that got the semi's a few years ago had a whole host of current internationals in it. We have made the semi's twice now in the last two years.
Hope this is the first team to make the final though
A lot of potential future internationals on display today if you ask me, and that's without Cory Allen and Rhys Patchell.

Penalty against Wales at the scrum, even though they were moving forward and the SA prop was bend at right angles from the pressure???
