Don't understand all these rumours of united being in for garay.
I wasnt that impressed with him in Spain and we have Ferdinand, vidic, Evans, smalling and jones at centre half.
Bizarre, though I see the fabregas rumours are resurfacing - can anyone see this happening now barca have sold thiago? I can't.

United have bid £25 million for Fabregas. Would be a fantastic signing for United.

He'd a few years in Spain in his early 20s, on loan to a mid table club and a season at Madrid.

just like i said about thiago i will believe the fabregas rumors when i see him in the shirt.
we do very poorly when competing for European signings, the only big european signings have been veron and ruud, nearly all the other big signings were bought from English clubs

Not sure David Moyes knows what he wants to do right now, it's the first time he's had a transfer budget so he's probably doing what we all do on FM, add half of Europe to his shortlist and watch the media salivate over the possibilities.

I don't really understand this feeling that Arsenal are all that powerful in determining Fabregas' fate.
Yes they have the buyback clause, but that is worthless is Cesc isn't interested in a move to Arsenal over United. Nothing I have seen suggests he would prefer challenging for a CL spot over a team who win the league more often than not. All this "he loves Arsenal" is nonsense. He loved them so much, he pushed through a move to Barca

Not sure what it is that Thiago's done that puts him at Fabregas's level? 68 games for Barca, 3 caps for Spain, promising potential in an excellent team.
Compared to 272 apps between Arsenal and Barca, 83 caps for Spain, a World Cup and two European Championships. I'd rather have Cesc than Thiago every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Agreed Azzy. I'd have Fabregas every day of the week over Thiago.
And at least Moyes is trying to address the position that everyone seems to agree they need to, something that seemed unnecessary to the great SAF who thought Cleverley was the answer

Oh dear, not Fabregas I wasn't a fan of his at Arsenal and I'm certainly not a fan of his at Barca. I mean, he wasn't awful at Arsenal but when he was there he was a good player in an average team (Arsenal have improved since then before anyone starts!!)

Chelsea and City have more cash and hired bigger names.

I've said this since the second Moyes was appointed. Chelsea have Mourinho + signings, City have Pellegrini + signings, Arsenal have Wenger + lots of money to spend, Spurs have AVB + Bale + some money to spend...what's in United's future?GSC wrote:Are united really the sure bet they were under Ferguson.

Signing Fabregas would be such a statement of intent though, I almost hope they do sign him. What a title race we'd be in for then.

Which is the Chelski/Citeh approach that reaps dividends for 3, maybe 4, seasons and then you're left with an expensive rebuild project. United are about youth and the long game, would rather pay a premium for potential unless it's something really special (RVP).

For Dortmund he excelled behind Lewandowski and I think he'd do the same behind RVP. I'm with your mate, he has to play "in the hole".

Arteta-Wilshere
Walcott - Fabregas - Jovetic
Higuain
Wowzers.
Note that Arsenal would need to actually sign players for that to happen
Yeah, slightly getting over-excited with that line-up. Arsenal to spend £25 on bringing back Cesc, £25m on Jovetic and then around £22m for Higuain. You do know who manages Arsenal don't you?????
As far as the Fabregas to United bid goes, I think it's going to fail. They've just sold Thiago and would not then want to get rid of Fabregas, especially with Xavi in serious decline. That clause is there for Arsenal and will not suddenly make Barcelona panic because United have bid that amount. Can't see this story going anywhere, other than to sell papers. Arsenal need a striker, new centre back and a keeper......not a returning Fabregas.
Also, has anyone been following Stoke. They've apparently bought Nando Quesada, highly rated Spanish player who's captained the u-20 national side. They've already bought Montoya aswell, Hughes really is trying to turn Stoke's style into something more attractive like Barcelona.

Still, a great signing for a club of Stoke's stature. Quite why Mark Hughes couldn't sign players like this at QPR, I don't know. He'd still be in a job if he had.

RVW will get double figures, that's a good investment. Fer is a good midfielder, tenacious, he's a good investment. Redmond is a diamond in the rough, I love that signing. If Alderweireld did come to you, I'd put money on you being top 10 for sure.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
On paper I'm happy with it for sure yeah.
Don't see Alderweireld coming off. He's destined for bigger clubs.
Fairly certain Hooper will be in yellow before August is out. Then we always seem to sign someone out of nowhere at some point

All got to settle though, I wont trust RVW for awhile.
Arsenal have the emotional pull on Cesc, United would have the ambition he wants, but if Arsenal are willing to spend the money then it would probably initially show Cesc they are evolving.
If Barca have to accept a £25m from Arsenal then it doesnt matter what United offer surely?
United, however, could be smart enough to wait for Arsenal to spunk money somewhere else. Say they buy Suarez for £35m, will they spend another £25m on Fabregas? Probably leaves them without money and a squad short of players.
Kagawa is amazing, he is surely the Pienaar of this United team now. Moyes played him as an inside left and used Baines as his wide threat. Would give Kagawa the same freedom to play inside. Kagawa, Rooney, Zaha (or any other) as a three behind RVP is sensational.
Not sure why Rooney is so despised really. I believe reports that he didnt hand in a transfer request, just asked about his position and said if he wasnt playing then he may want to move on. Whats wrong with that? Hes a huge talent and should be driven by a desire to play in top matches.

I'm almost certain Liverpool will not sell Suarez for less then a package less then £40 million +
I have heard that Real Madrid have sounded out Liverpools interest in Xabi Alonso , so would expect any bid from them for Suarez would include him as part of it .

Indeed, I see a lot of Norwich fans expecting 8th-10th and a cup win ala Swansea this year. Whilst it's great to have lofty ambitions, these guys are not guaranteed successes.
I personally am hoping we can finish top half, but would take anywhere above 17th tbh

Cavani having medical at PSG, deal basically done and dusted. City going for Negredo is a huge come down, he's a good player, but certainly no Cavani.
Arsenal need a striker, centre back and goalkeeper......why would they spend nearly £25m on a central midfielder????? United could of been clever and waited but they haven't, they've bid and shown their hand that they want Cesc. Barcelona will be in rush to sell with Thiago gone, basically think the deal is a no-go for all parties.

Zaha is the lesser one but could be good, Im the only one on here who rates Ashley Young though. Otherwise, Kagawa is an amazingly good player who had a dip of form only after injury and then came back into it again. Rooney is world class too, and if he is brought back into the fold properly then he can recapture the rhythm and positivity. Best front four in English football for me, obviously it has caveats, but less so than the other top clubs in this country.
