I've always thought Taarabt is a decent player with plenty of potential but it seems like the negative things that he does sometimes do let him down.
I'm pretty sure that Chris Samba was sold back to Anzh Makhachkala for £12m or so i think.

He was like QPR's top goalscorer in the league with 6 goals post January and had a spell of like a month out with that muscle injury, hardly a poor contribution to a woeful side. Also that wonder goal against Wigan was a highlight.
Apparently, Bent is on his way next week when Kinnear is back to finalise the deal. Rumours have it that we are not interested in going back for Remy. He's also shown his true character in choosing the financial reward of QPR and that is something Ashley did not appreciate. All that said, if we are desperate for players and their is a lack of signings, it would not surprise me to see him arrive quite late.

I think Taarabt did very well last season.

Remy's a bit like Townsend for me (better player), but his inconsistency was covered up by a few moments of brilliance.

Don't know too much about this Fer that we've signed, except that he is a box to box midfielder, which is something we have been crying out for

Saw him in the U-21 Champs and looked very good. Big, strong, box-to-box midfielder. Surprised he went to Norwich but I'm sure he will do very well for you and then he will move on after gaining more experience and improving his game. Re-sale value will go through the roof, if you only bought him for £4m? I honestly thought Fer would do a Toby Alderwiereld and reject you at the last minute but I'm thinking that failed medicalat Everton probably put other interested parties off for the time being.

Why did he fail the medical at Everton?

Was allegedly a fee of 4m yes.
To be fair to Alderweireld I wouldn't want to go to Norwich if I was him. He can do so much better.
Also I have no problem with us buying these players who could go onto be something big and make us a lot of money. Some Norwich fans do. But it's the only way we will be able to keep on competing and trying to improve

Medical failed because of an issue with his knee, he later argued was nonsense and then he played a vast amount of games for his club, so read what you want into that. Everton's financial issues are well known, maybe it was a cover up of some sorts.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
Ah so it was a Charlie Austin-esque failed medical then.
6 signings so far this summer and the Chief Exec has said we are "far from finished".
Love the ambition being shown by the club not only in actually getting deals done early but also on the calibre of player we are going after.
Hopefully it all pays off

Remy to me is one of the only QPR players id want. Think he looked outstanding, his finishing was immense. His ball striking and instincts top notch. The r*** thing might be a bit of a problem though...

No basically he`s got to showcase his ability this season and prove he's worthy of a new deal this time next summer. Contract runs out in two, I believe, therefore the ball is in rooneys court, perform and get rewarded with a new deal or don't perform and be sold for a reasonable fee next summer. United don't need to do anything currently. They fell for rooneys demands last time he spit the dummy out but not this time.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread ......Continued
No he needs to go, cash in, his ego is too big let the idiot go and buy someone who wants to play and perform from the heart not because he "has to"

Cash in but to who? Rooney is never going abroad, therefore your selling to rivals and theres been no serious bids been placed anyway. As the guy on sky sports says, united don't need to sell or offer him new deal. The emphasis is on Rooney to perform to gain a new deal next summer and if he doesn't then united sell. United have other areas of the pitch which need the attention, not rooney`s ongoing saga. Just a media storm over nothing.

PSG are about to complete Cavani deal so I doubt that and Monaco spent £50 million on Falcao.
The most likely destination for him if he leaves would be Chelsea I imagine. I could only see him moving to PSG if they sold Ibrahimovic.
This is without taking into account that Rooney probably wouldn't want to move abroad anyway.

David Moyes would be seriously dumb to sell him to Arsenal or Chelsea.

I'd love to see it just because it'd be interesting.
So far I think this transfer window has been quite interesting, with some big moves like Gotze, Neymar and Falcao with more likely on the way.

If Arsenal buy Rooney and add a little depth, maybe upgrade on Arteta and work out whether they can keep Wilshere fit, then I'd put Arsenal right up there. Rooney is everything they lack up top

Replace Vermaelen with Ashley Williams + cash. Get a more solid 3rd defender.
Sell Sagna, promote Jenkinson to the first XI.
Sign a striker of proven quality

This window is going to shape the landscape of European football for the next 5 years.
Yet united are sitting on the sidelines doing bugger all.

Initial fee of 20 million euros, so about £17 million which is surprisingly cheap for such a highly praised player.
I'm not sure whether the move is a good one for Thiago, while he will be mentored by Guardiola once more and Bayern Munich are obviously a top side, the whole point of leaving Barcelona was to actually break into a first team and arguably that is going to be just as difficult at Bayern where their midfield has even more depth than Barcelona's. He'd have been better off moving to Manchester United.

We need more than 'decent' though
I personally think we have a fairly poor side that won in a very overrated league. If we sign who I think we will (Fellaini) then the proof will be in the pudding when we fall in the first knock out stage (or date I say group stages) of the champions league. We may still challenge for honours but we'll continue to fall behind other big clubs around europe

Overrated league? England (ah, England) has the best league in the world for competitiveness, it's just going through a minor blip. Perfectly understandable as it's been top of the world for a few years now and is going through a transition period.

When you see the management merry go round and amount of transfers involving marquee players you've got to say its bit been a great window.
Missed out on someone who would have made a big difference to the team, one bid turned down for Baines and that's it.

Doncaster sign Mark Duffy from Scunthorpe - Sounds like a good player, could be a good signing for Doncaster.
MK Dons sign Ben Reeves from Southampton - A mate of mine who is a Southampton fan said this is probably his level.
Burton Albion sign Rene Howe from Torquay - Always scored goals at this level, good signing.

I imagine so Bull, can't see Rooney being too happy with back up football
I still don't buy into this injury he has. If he felt his hamstring tighten before the left you just wouldn't take him with you, and you don't sustain a three week injury lay off in a light training session
The thing is as much as I want the Rooney saga put to bed, until we confirm anything incoming were not in position to let one of our better players leave

Aye just read that, can't see anything coming of it
Boy hood Barca fan, in or around the first team of the team that means most to him. Would strongly urge any United fans not to get their hopes up with this one.
Even if he does leave Arsenal would have first refusal on him anyway and now that they have money would they seriously let a Premiership rival get better when they're in a position to stop it and get one of their better players back
Encouraging signs though that the money is there

Thiago to Bayern.
Has anyone had as easy a manergerial career as Pep Guardiola?
Kicks off with the best side in the world containing 2 out of the 3 best players in the world for several years then just as they are on the wane he switches to their usurpers and new best team in the world with a hundred mill in the bank to spend on 2 or 3 of the other best players in world.

Higuain

Note that Arsenal would need to actually sign players for that to happen

He didn't actually fail his medical with us. It flagged up a potential knee problem, so we tried to restructure the payments to limit the financial risk of his knee failing. Twente wouldn't change the terms, so we pulled out
