Corbs is Gatland's man of the match
First topic message reminder :
Well, that's what Gatland said.
and
and
and
Corbs has signed next season with my Saints. I can hear the song in the distance.
Getting stonger, and then stronger again.
Oh, when the Saints
Oh, when the Saints
Oh, when the Saints go matching in
Oh, how I can't wait for them to beat Leicester
Oh, when the Saints go marching in.
God, that was great. Need a cigarette.

Surely you mean the top 3 teams seeing as England are ranked 4th by the IRB?

England can and most likely will put out a front row of Corbs Youngs and Cole that pretty formidable I my book.
Adam Jones paid tribute to Corbs in the after match interview and their potential match up next 6 Nations with Hibbard locking horns with Youngs will be worth the cost alone.

If that helps you sleep at night fair play to you, but while not wishing to interrupt your sweet dreams England are not the 4th best team and the rest of the world knows it. Everyone outside England looks at the rankings and thinks "that can't be right can it"
Accepting such nonsense as fact is why English fans get so upset when beasted as they were at the Millennium or when they have only 2 representatives in the Lions starting team. It seems to be a delusion shared by English fans whatever the sport. It always makes me laugh when the football team participates in international competition with fans and pundits convinced they will win, when it is perfectly clear that they have not a dogs chance in hell
All very amusing

Re: Corbs is Gatland's man of the match
The people who think the rankings are wrong probably should look at Wales' results (at home) against sides like Samoa and Argentina.
You've got to win consistently and certainly against sides below you in the rankings. If you lose at home against them you ain't going to be up top.
Not to say rankings are everything, but they are logical and show how nations have fared over a period of time in relation in others.
Still, dragonbreath, you're a smart lad so you knew that already

yes, so long as the ref allows an even contest - will be a front row battle more than worthy of the ticket price.

Dragonbreath do you ever think before posting? Vunipola would walk into your club side's XV (Dragons).
I think this is the inane comment Beshocked was reacting to:dragonbreath wrote:
He was very good, but we were comparing him to Vunipola who frankly a fat guy dragged from a pub could have performed better than in the scrum.
No-one has said he that is the case.
A poster said something pathetically derogatory about Mako and Beshocked pulled him up on it. Believe it or not these discussions do go off on a tangent.
Its frankly touch and go whether my comment about Vunipola's scrumaging is actually derogatory, he is borderline incompetent. Quite how he gets away with it in the super tough Aviva is a mystery. Unless? no that can't be the case, everyone knows its the toughest league in the world
Not really touch and go. You say a fat guy dragged from a pub could do better. Perhaps you are referring to yourself? Being a tougher/more intense league than the Pro12 doesn't make the AP the toughest in the world.
Perhaps if you actually beat SH sides on your own you might be higher ranked in the world rankings.

Dragonbreath, there are ways of chatting on a message board without winding people up. You either don't get it, can't do it or deliberately choose not to do it. Can't decide which. But your comments only make us in Wales look a bit silly when we struggle against anyone outside the 6N. England beat New Zealand recently, something we've not come close to for a decade, and have not achieved since not long after the war. That's not to be sniffed at. Yes, we beat England relatively regularly but that's only a recent thing. It was only a few years ago when they were thumping us.
A bit of class in your responses would help, otherwise you open the door for the next time they beat us, which is inevitable as the record suggests that we're around 50% wins against each other. They're due one soon, and you're paving the way for a whole world of pain on here from their posters. And they'd be quite justified too reading some of the rubbish posted by some of my fellow countrymen.

Well said Griff. Nice to see you are a more grounded Welshman. Well done for having 10 starters in the big win vs the Aussies. Hopefully this will give these guys the confidence they need mentally. There is so much potential in the Welsh side.
Finding a replacement scrum half for Phillips would be a priority in my opinion. I would be more wary of Wales if they had someone like Peel running the show.

Re: Corbs is Gatland's man of the match
Agree beshocked, scrum half is the priority. I've been calling for a nippy 9 for a while but they've just not done enough to challenge Phillips. Unfortunately the best 9 in Wales for 2 years has been Kahn Fotuali'i! I believe we can leave the game plan and the rest of the players as they are, bring in a nippy 9, and we'd be instantly improved. Would be lovely to see some of our backs running at a defensive line that is not properly set and is caught a bit unawares - with Phillips and his 'thinking' about the next play we're very predicable and making hard work for ourselves.
On kicking on, the problem for us is that we're so poor at dealing with expectation. We often do well in the 6N after a poor season where we've been slammed in the press. Last year was the exception, although after the first half of the Ireland game everyone thought 'here we go again, grand slam champs to chumps'. But great character to come back. Why we can't ever kick on i don't know, but the worst thing is when we are given the favourites tag - we just can't deal with it and leads to losses to the likes of Romania, Fiji, Samoa (although no embarrassment to lose to them IMO), Japan, etc.

Nice one Griff
Must be annoying to have such a petulant little poster constantly skewing the view of the other Welsh posters on here.

I don't see why people would need to generalise anyway. One or two wums doesn't reflect on the majority and nor should it.

I agree, and I actually made a post about that a few weeks ago. English posters were all being tarred with the same brush because of one poster's views, even though it was completely absurd and in no way reflected what everyone else thought.
As much as we think it is unfair to do it, this stereotyping does happen. It's a case of whoever kicks and screams the loudest gets heard, or in this case, whoever embarrasses themselves the most.
