Well, its generally a throwaway point. I havent dismissed RVW's chances of being a major hit at Norwich, but I think its a risk.

To be fair RVW is an anomaly. Using stats only (a poor marker) he has 26 goals in 28 Utrecht appearances but 28 in 55 for Sporting!!

Yeah it's pretty much a league but you only play 2 teams you get 1 point for every goal you score so Galatasaray will have 4pts.

Seems that Dempsey has joined Seattle Sounders. Depressing really, feels like someone could have convinced him to stay with some money.

Absolute shocker for Dempsey and it annoys me really. A season ago he was on fire for Fulham and banging them in. Signs for Spurs, gets wasted on the bench and then when he does come on he's played out of position. Scored a few goals for Spurs but generally unappreciated and one of Levy' rushed signings. Real shame, like the guy and represented the USA extremely well.

Think Dempsey is one of those players who's better as a big fish in a smaller pond.
Midtable PL or a move home on a decent paycheck were his options I suspect.

Think that the same with Michu, if he'd had signed for Arsenal. Glad he's stayed with Swansea, instead of the big pay day.
Monaco dismantling Spurs right now. These could be the kind of performances post-Bale.

I only saw glimpses of the game. Lloris had a shocker, Dembele, Walker, Sigurdsson, Parker, Lennon & Chadli were all there. Defoe got injured, limped off. Obviously some of the big guns were not there like Bale, Soldado or Paulinho but not a great result.
Looks like Remy deal is going to be difficult to conclude for NUFC, QPR playing a game with us......usually means we go elsewhere. Also, James McCarthy looks to be our next target but we will go head to head with Everton for the player.

Well apparently Wigan are demanding £20 million for McCarthy, think he'll probably go for £15 million, but even that's quite a lot.

That is ridiculous money. He is only 22 and a very good player, but not revolutionary. Id take Ben Watson for a fraction of it and not be too worried, bossed their game today. Maloney is still their best player, saddens me to see him there.

Watching that Wigan/Barnsley game was comical. The standard was embarrassing, no wonder Watson is banging goals in from 25 yards with that amount of time and no pressure. If the OAP Whelan wants £20m for McCarthy then the world has gone mad, he's a good player but nothing special. Rather he went to Everton because we've got Cabaye. Must admit Kinnear has disappointed me with these targets.

McCarthy is a top talent, but Whelan can afford to keep him, so has slapped a ridiculous price tag on him.

Is McCarthy the Scottish or Irish one?
Anyway, on another note here's a good read. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/aug/03/bayern-munich-pep-guardiola Honigstein writes a good article, I'll give him that.

I am really surprised no team has snapped Maloney up yet, obviously there is still time. Think he'd be a really good signing for any mid-table side. Teams like Newcastle, Sunderland, West Ham, Norwich, Fulham, West Brom would all be better with Maloney, and I doubt he'd be that expensive.

I want to elaborate a bit on this sentence: "I don't write off any player from any league before I've seen them play for their new club in a new league for a while but I'm automatically pessimistic." I meant the Eredivisie only there. For example, I was pretty sure Kagawa would be a success after coming from Dortmund and he's done alright.

I wish we were in for Maloney. Really, I understand that we need an "inside-forward" rather than a Maloney sort.

I never saw him for Sporting in the league (I think I saw him for two games against City in the EL) so I can't say too much but what I did notice is that he had a better goals/games ratio for Sporting than Utrecht!! Arguably the Portugese League is of a higher quality so I think he'll do well. If he has a record similar to either of those two leagues in the PL then that's a real coupe.

Joking 'Ere wrote:Asked if the club were close to signing Remy, Kinnear told Sky Sports News: "Yeah I think very much, so I would like to think we are very, very close to agreeing that.
"I would think maybe Monday or Tuesday we will be a position to say yea or nay, but I am very happy about how that deal is going at the moment."
Kinnear admitted talks are ongoing regarding signing former Sunderland striker Bent, but that they face competition for the England international with Fulham also reported to be chasing Bent.
"We were with Darren's agent for two or three hours, we thrashed out a deal
"We are still in negotiations with Aston Villa so there is a really strong possibility there.
"Again I hear the latest is that somebody else has all of a sudden shown interest in the player so we have competition from various clubs around the country, but I am not letting go.
"These are players that me and Alan [Pardew] have spoken about. These are players that we've all agreed at the club are the type of player we want to bring to Newcastle."

Been critical of Kinnear but seems like he's finally woken up and started doing his job. If he pulls off Gomis, Remy & Bent then I don't think, as a Newcastle supporter, that I can complain too much. Still think central midfield needs strengthening and a defender but see how things unfold. Surprised at the positivity of that Kinnear interview.

Not a great deal of info in the article to be honest, but for anyone that hasn't seen this, Juventus have pretty much confirmed Quagliarella and Matri are being sold imminently. I know that these two being surplus to requirements has been pretty well documented with new boys Tevez and Llorente, as well as Giovinco and Vucinic being ahead of them in the pecking order. However I doubt that the club would confirm this and speak openly about it to the Italian press if deals for them weren't almost sewn up.

Been a mare of a night with West Ham's PR and lil Jack Sullivan. He tweeted earlier:
Apparently, Mboyo was convicted of gang raping a 14 year old girl when he was 16.
A little later he tweeted:
So it looks they are unsure on their own morals and putting the decision on the fans. At first I thought it was an example for Remy, but now I'm not sure.
That account is more trouble than its worth...
@jsullivanwhu: How would you feel if we signed Mboyo of Gent ? Terrible crime when he was 16, can he ever be forgiven ?
What do you think ?

Apparantly Ed Woodward is looking to secure a signing/signings before the community shield. Would be ideal, still not holding my breath over Fabregas but if we could sign him I would say we don't really need anyone else. The squad would be very strong, midfield problem finally sorted with youngsters such as Lingard and Januzaj showing their quality on tour. Hopefully they get some minutes in the community shield.

Has he arrived back in England yet since he left Oz on urgent transfer business?
Think I'm resigned to the fact we'll have the same squad as last season but with the addition of Zaha, who looked impressive on tour. Januzaj and Lingard could be potentially quality in the future, and we need to make sure we keep hold of them. Think there's been some quality in the youth that we've lost due to mismanagemet the last few years

Said the same Olly. We sell Rooney without strengthening our squad first and we may as well wave a white flag now
If we brought in more than sufficient replacemenets I wouldn't rule it out, but at the minute that doesn't look like happening any time soon
