I think he's definitely staying after what henry said tonight and it does make sense. I think what will happen is he'll be made to train and play with the reserves for the opening few games of the season. Let things simmer down a bit, give him a slap on the wrist so to speak. Then bring him in 6/7th game of the season after a public apology and committing himself to Liverpool. Fans won't forgive him but if he starts scoring again, i don't think they'll feel as bitter.

Suarez gong nowhere, this really is a shocker for Wenger after those strong comments by Henry. Even worse is that Madrid, as I expected, are now bottling over Bale. Florentino Perez complaining about the fee, saying its too high, which anybody could of told him. If Bale stays at Spurs along with their new signings, Wenger & Arsenal are in for a tough season in getting that top 4.
Agree about Suarez being reintegrated after six games, reckon there won't be a problem, especially if Liverpool are struggling.

Agree, however this time they don't have an immediate replacement lined up. When they sold Torres, they bought in Carroll straightaway. Going into a season with unproven strikers and a poor finisher/winger in the form of Sturridge, is not a way of showing ambition to get back into the Champions League and potentially buying new players further down the line. Until there is a bid of £50m, then Suarez is going nowhere.GSC wrote:Also said Torres wouldn't be sold. How gullible are you guys?
The Bale situation, in my opinion, is more interesting. I knew, after all the rubbish media reports of bid's day after day, that Madrid would probably start complaining and eventually pull out. Spurs keeping Bale is potentially more of a realistic target now and they could be a force with these new signings. Levy should have already put that point across to Gareth.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread....Continued.....CONTINUED
With Torres' form at that time, £50 million was far too good an offer to turn down. Suarez's form is far superior to what Nando's was at the time he left and it obvious why FSG don't want to sell.
I'm actually pleased John Henry has come out and spoken about it though. It's a bit like kids bickering with dad finally stepping in and telling everyone to shut up before they get a clip round the ear.

They organised the Carroll transfer within a day. They have over 3 weeks this time, and Suarez wouldn't be playing for a while anyway

Yeah, but this has been an incredibly active window and the majority of world class strikers were available and have now been sold and moved on for massive fees. Plus, they don't have Champions League football to get a credible replacement for Suarez. Selling Suarez would leave three weeks to get who? The only credible replacements would have to be quality strikers from club of a lower stature, someone like Benteke, however he is now staying put. I'd like to know who Liverpool fans want as a replacement, just throw some names into the hat.

Im sure with 50m in the bank you could persuade someone for 35m + big wages to play no CL football for a few seasons :whistle:plus im not entirely sure they need a forward with Aspas/Sturridge there admittedly not as good as Suarez but would able to buy a 20m forward and improve elsewhere.

West Ham's chase for a winger who can cover as a striker has apparently turned to Danish international Nicolai Jorgensen. I like Jorgensen, think he's a decent young player and remember focusing oh him when I watched a few of the Danes u21 games.
The other lingering link is Stewart Downing, who apparently is completely unwanted at Liverpool and had been made completely aware of that.

Utd should test the waters with a bid for Kroos or Shaqiri. I can't see him getting much game time at Bayern this season, especially with Gotze coming into the team and Shaqiri might be as peripheral as he was last season.

What I'd call "ITKs" from both sides think he's on his way, 4 year deal. Cannot believe I'm seeing a West Ham squad with options. Downing, Jarvis, Cole, Vaz Te on the wings, a central midfield list of Nolan, Noble, Cole, Diame, Diarra, Morrison, Collison and the likely departing Taylor.GSC wrote:West Ham getting closer to signing Downing

It appears it's raid Tottenham this year then with Barcelona now enterting the chase after missing out on David Luiz/Daniel Agger it appears they now want Jan Vertonghen. It's odd as they could of had him for 10m last year would now if could persuade Spurs to sell which is unlikely would be about 30m+

West Ham are certainly building a squad that can easily consolidate them as a mid-table side which has got to be the aim for now.
Glad to see Agger named vice-captain, think the fact that he's got over his injury problems is fantastic and he's probably Liverpool's third best player behind Suarez and Gerrard. I'd love to see him finish his career with Liverpool and take over Gerrard's captaincy in the future.
As for the Suarez situation, John W. Henry and Gordon Taylor of the PFA have said it's looking like an impossibility that Suarez will leave. I understand that neither of that can be taken as golden, but it's certainly more encouraging than the past couple of weeks. In a way the suspension will act as a blessing in disguise, as Liverpool can't play him anyway but it will look like tough love by making him train with the reserves and punishing him. I expect him to be gone next summer, but hopefully by then we'll have at the very least Europa League football and can attract a decent replacement.

That would be a good signing, he's very similar to Agger and is a much more defensively solid choice than Luiz, but can use the ball very well.Fernando wrote:It appears it's raid Tottenham this year then with Barcelona now enterting the chase after missing out on David Luiz/Daniel Agger it appears they now want Jan Vertonghen. Fernando - Basically John Henry & Liverpool won't sell because, as you've answered, there really is no viable option available, who is on a level with Suarez. Attracting a star player to come and play Europa League football and for him to receive a big salary, would say something about that player's character and his motives for financial gain. Remember £50m in the bank, like Arsenal, has really done them no favours, in terms of gaining a top striker, because they are extremely sparse at this point in time.
Special Juan - Absolutely love Shaqiri as a player, such a shame he's wasted at Bayern - travesty for such a huge talent. I even heard Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport saying that Pep might actually utilise him as the back-up to Alaba at left-back, if there is limited midfield opportunity for him. Agree, United could tempt Bayern with an offer and is in the mould of a Fabregas, however it appears Fellaini is now the primary target for Moyes. Kroos is a key player and valued to highly at that club for them to allow him to leave.
No chance of Vertonghan going to Barcelona in my opinion, looking desperate now are Barcelona for a defender, just going around the houses until they find a player available. I thought they were signing Inigo Martinez from Real Sociedad, even labelled 'the next puyol'. Finally, what's the latest with Bale then? Are Madrid bottling it now, £85m was ridiculous from the get-go? If he stays, what are Arsenal's chances of a Top 4 in relation to their rivals, especially having spent nothing and Suarez seemingly staying at Anfield.

I think Real Madrid are probably just playing games, cooling off on the deal in the hope that Bale comes out of the woodwork and demands that Spurs lower their asking price so he can move.

If they don't buy Suarez, who on earth is Wenger suddenly going to be spending £45m on? I know he likes to do his business quietly but they haven't even been linked with anyone, other than Grenier from Lyon but he signed a new deal. All the top talent has been taken, in terms of strikers and if he's going to buy a Begovic or an Ashley Williams, that's only going to total £20m max. I just don't see a big Wenger spending spree, it was Suarez and no back-up, they got told bad information in regards to Suarez's contract and now things look desperate.

Welbeck is priceless. Even the Qatari's, Saudi's or Russian's put together couldn't afford Cleverley's right foot.
In all seriousness Welbeck about £15m because he's British & Cleverley about 15p. If it wasn't for Ferguson, Cleverley would be working in Burger King without a shadow of doubt. What Roy see's in him is astonishing.
By the way, has the £5m bid by Newcastle for Scott Sinclair actually been confirmed?

Along with Lingard & Larnell Cole, United have got some real talent coming through. I expect Moyes didn't know too much about them and has been pretty impressed with them over this pre-season. Add in Zaha, Kagawa, Jones, Smalling, Rafael (to an extent) and others, future looks bright.Bull wrote:Januzaj is quality

Seriously can you not make a post without saying this same Poopie over and over again? It's obvious that suarez is the no.1 striker target and they're waiting to see how that develops, whilst they've obviously been holding back cash in case they had to exercise the buyback on cesc, and between those that has probably hindered spending. The tone from Gazidis has been different this summer, there's no way they can get away with not "spending big"John wrote:If they don't buy Suarez, who on earth is Wenger suddenly going to be spending £45m on?
