What GSC is saying is this:
Who do I believe when judging the value of Paul Scholes the footballer?
a) fans of the game, who may or may not be biased, or
b) Scholes's peers, who played with and against him for nearly two decades
I'd go with option b.

If you want to always say "oh he is good because this player said so" then fine but would rather judge for myself then care what a player or prof had said, he may think his good dont mean i have to rate that player. but each to their own.

Xavi is obviously going to be a better judge of a player's ability than you, me or GSC Bull.
Anyway, Albion should confirm Vydra's loan signing tonight

Wait, so you would rather take a professional's view, but only if its in the form of a vote, not words?

Id disagree, a vote is a faceless nothing and awards are generally never held as important to people as words from their peers. As well as the fact there is no longevity in a one season award. Just looking at the people who get votes, its not really a great support of your argument

Basically that side is designed to achieve the target of top 4 and no more. Cazorla does not play outwide. If Wenger had the ambition & drive to seriously challenge for another title, that squad would not look like that. Even if you add Suarez to that side, it effectively puts them back in front of Spurs but continues to lag behind the top 3. An Arsenal fan can`t be happy with this summer`s activity. £17m for Gustavo is ridiculous, stop banging on about he can play left back aswell, you have Gibbs & Montreal for that job.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Cazorla is wasted wide, thats my only problem with it. This was Wenger`s defining summer, he`s failed miserably to date.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread....Continued.....CONTINUED
Disagree if it has Suarez. With Suarez in there I would expect a more sustained challenge. I suppose the point of those 3 in the middle would be that they cover the full backs better, thus Cazorla spends a lot of time inside and Gibbs/Monreal bomb forward with better protection than they have had in years.
If he goes and buys Suarez now, on top of Gustavo, then you cant really suggest a £60m+ spend is Wenger being too tight. That would be unrealistic and agenda driven.

How is 17m too much for a player who is world class, knows how to win trophies, has shown the ability to play well against strong opposition and is exactly the sort of player needed?

Gustavo is an excellent signing.Would rather Utd pay that price for him that what we would pay for Fellaini. Better player too imo.
Arsenal have a decent team for next year if they sign Gustavo. If they can get a striker who can get them 20 goals and for a quality keeper they would be right up there. Unfortunately not having either will probably seem them finish outside the top 3.

Luis Gustavo - world class........?????? Played in a class team, as basically a cog in the wheel. So world class, he's not wanted at Bayern and so world class he`s barely a certainty for the Brazil world cup squad. Also, so world class, the only other team confirmed after him is a mid table German side called wolfsburg. I've seen this guy play many times, he's descent, versatile and energetic but don't get confused with labelling him world class because of who he's played for and the previous teammates he's played with. £17m for him is outrageous, especially if someone like Kondogbia is available for half the price.

Wolfsburg where champions of the supercup and bundesliga a few years ago and where also the team to rip apart Bayern. But i get what you mean.

Can't even say I've heard of Luis Gustavo, but it sounds like the words World Class are being over used again
Does being 'world class' even matter any more the way the term is used so willy nilly. Ronaldo and Messi are world class, everyone else is just very good

Bull that was in 2009, its now 2013/14 and they are well and truly a mid table side.Bull wrote:Wolfsburg where champions of the supercup and bundesliga a few years ago and where also the team to rip apart Bayern. But i get what you mean.

Gustavo is a good player, nowhere near world class. Schweinstiger, Iniesta etc.. they are world class players. Gustavo is nowhere near them.

Yes but could easily be from a niggle from the chelsea game. Perhaps asked to sit out to be as fresh as possible. Look at Rooney, he hasn't played for utd in pre-season all so he can be as fit as possible for the england/scotland gameHero wrote:Portugal though have confirmed Ronaldo had requested to miss training today and it was granted ahead of their game in Holland on Wednesday...Liam wrote:No way he's coming back. Rumors from Turkey say NCFC are close to signing Johan Elmander from Galatasary.
Wouldn't be too unhappy with that, would offer a different option off the bench

The Nike reason doesn't add up.
A)Why would Ronaldo come to a meeting with Nike - surely it'd be the other way round.
B) Nike doesn't have an office in Manchester.
Unless of course it was to do with Nike assisting in something else...
Watch him sign for bleeding City now.

Aside from the money I don't get the lure of PSG. Ronaldo craves attention and nobody watches the French league aside from Afro Plus with Ibihimovic and Cavani there, playing Ronaldo would result in dropping one of them. Cavani has to start as the spent £55m on him and Ibi wouldn't take well to being dropped.

I couldn't ever see him ending up at your place, not sure why, just didn't seem like the type of signing you really need.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Olly, sounds like Quag is off to Sunderland, hes definitely not coming to West Ham anyway! They can stop banging this drum very soon!
Could see him up at Sunderland, but I've only seen a loan quoted, and I'm pretty sure Juve want to sell?

He would have fit very well in a role we were trying to fill for a while, off the striker but to the right, but only on loan. I dont think they are going to get what they want so better off taking what they can instead.

Yahoo blog on "Indisputable proof that Cristiano Ronaldo is returning to Manchester United (or not)"
Some highlights
Some highlights
- After returning from a lengthy preseason tour of the United States, Ronaldo and Real Madrid teammates Pepe and Fabio Coentrao were granted permission to join the Portuguese national team a day late ahead of their friendly against the Netherlands on Wednesday. Fenerbahce's Bruno Alves, who played in the Turkish Super Cup the day before, was also given permission to arrive a day late. This can only mean that Man United are signing all four players with the help of the Portuguese football federation. This goes all the way to the top.
- In June, Ronaldo put his Madrid house up for sale. The buyer? GARETH BALE.
- Sergio Ramos dyed his hair blond specifically to drive Cristiano Ronaldo out of the club. Ronaldo always said that if Ramos did that or if Iker Casillas ever bought a cat, he would leave.
