Voted for David Seaman. He's English and....well he's English. Superb shot-stopper, one of Arsenal's greatest ever players. Yeah, has to be Seaman.

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
Peter Schmeichel without a doubt. Best goalkeeper I have ever seen, the only goalie who ever came close was Neville Southall imo. A lot of United fans do seem to think van Der Sar was on a par with Schmeichel though. Nigel Martyn was awesome too.

Very strange to have Rob Green and John Ruddy in there, although I do think Ruddy is a good keeper.

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
Ruddy and Green are hair-brained entrants based on Olly mentioning them on the other thread, but they have no place here...
Surely Friedel, Schwarzer, Southall, Given, James are all more worthy of consideration. Hell, I'd have Ed De Goey above John Ruddy.

You do realise Nick didn't choose these, that it's based on what we sent...?
If you wanted a certain goalkeeper to get a mention, why didn't you nominate them?

Has to be Schmeichel, he revolutionised goalkeeping to an extent with is distribution. Would have loved to have voted for Seaman, but Schmeichel was on a different level.

Second to last post, Nick asked people to PM him their nominations. This is a long list of polls that he is going to do.

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
I appreciate Peter's probably the better goalkeeper but van der Sar is my favourite goalie ever so he gets my vote. He's certainly a "great" in my eyes (ok that sounds a bit fangirlish).

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
Schmeichel was superb but was prone to a lob. Seaman on the other hand couldn't save anything from 25 yards out or more. VDS and Cech were are my choices.

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
John Ruddy?! Eh? "the greatest goalkeeper".....jesus this board has seriously gone down the Poopie.
If that's the case id like to add the following who are clearly better than Ruddy:
Paul Robinson, David James, Neil Sullivan, Mark Schwarzer, Asmir Begovic, Tim Krul, Jens Lehman, Mark Bosnich, Neville Southall, Kasey Keller and errrrr Pavel Sernicek.

Re: Greatest Premiership Goalkeeper
Ruddy and Green? LOL
Might as well have Massimo Taibi on that list.
Anyway, its a toss up between Schmeichel and Cech for me. I'd probably give the Dane the edge.
Special mentions to the likes of Friedel, Schwarzer, Given, Jaaskelainen etc who were all great long running servents for the Premiership.
