Rumours on twitter that Amir Khan paid people to follow him..
The rumours started after his followers dropped by over 1 million overnight. Surely this isn't true is it?

Re: Twitter
He must have paid a lot of people to make any difference to his twitter numbers. Paying 10/20 people would make no difference he would have had to pay like 50,000 or 100,000 which makes me think it is a false story.

I just can't see how it can be true. How many people did he pay to follow him and where did he contact these people etc. Just seems like a made up story.

Having had a quick glance on google this story dates back to before the Peterson fight. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if its true, he wouldn't be the first.

He has enough money to just pay for adverts on tv and in magazines etc if he wants people to know who he is and increase his fan base.

Re: Twitter
is twitter numbers that important that you have to pay for followers?
Do you think his sponsorship money is linked to his popularity and twitter numbers are an indication of popularity?
I just can't see why anyone would care about twitter numbers that much to pay for it.

Re: Twitter
If it only cost him £20k then surely the very, very most people he could have paid would be 20,000 as who's going to bother for less than a quid. Yet you say followers dropped by 1m in a day. Sounds like pony to me.

Khan has moaned about British fight fans in the past...So Strongy will give his hero the benefit of the doubt..

just when you thought strongy's Wlad/Chisorsa article was the most pointless bit of @#*% posted today...along comes this utter pile of non-newsworthy tripe. Had the OP mentioned Bradley Pryce I'd be more forgiving.

Now I'm not following him, I didn't do that!!

Re: Twitter
Turns out that this is all malicious rubbish....
Khan had deactivated his twitter for a couple of days (not sure why).
It takes time for twitter to relink all the followers when the account is reactivated.
No drama!

Ahh right. His split with Vali could be interesting though as he deals with his promotional company in the UK. Wonder if he'll end up on sky again.

Re: Twitter
I don't know about Khan but apparently Twitter have done this for loads of people today, it's all over Twitter. Paul Smith and Bellew discussing it earlier. As I said I don't know if true about Khan but the story itself in general is true.

Re: Twitter
FYI you don't 'pay twitter followers' as in actual people, it's about paying for 'follows' from bulk blocks of fake accounts.
There was an article in the paper the other day about a fictional twitter 'character' that someone built from sratch to see how big a fake could get and one of the things the creator did to get things moving was 'buy' a block of something like 50k fake account followers.

Re: Twitter
Well, at $1500 for a million followers, it would make him look far more popular for a relatively cheap price. Many times I've seen twitter follower numbers being referred to as a casual barometer of fighter popularity - both in boxing and MMA. I would think that the extra million followers would've really bolstered his image as a popular fighter and made him back much more on contract negotiations for fights. It's actually quite smart*

True. I think its a crock of Poopie personally. No offence champagne.
Professional rugby players tend to bench minimum 110kg for league standard so your almost there.
How are you that big and a footballer?
Im an ex semi pro footballer having played in Germany, i weighed 11st 10lbs and benched between 50-70kg on reps. We were advised no higher due to muscle mass depreciation thus resulting in loss of speed and agility......
seems a bit strange you bench reps of 105kg.....decent reps at that.....and your a footballer......odd.

Re: Twitter
Some people just have more lean strength mobile. Have a friend who's very lean (he's a cricketer) but still manages to get to c.100kg.
Been a couple of years but my PB, as a prop, was 115kg bench. Never felt super strong, just competitive with what other guys at the gym were doing.
My mate competes at WSM competitions and powerlifting comps in the U90kg category and his PB is something like 180kg, now that is nuts!!

Re: Twitter
Benching 106kg isnt really pushing it... Admittedly, the reps sound pretty bad@$$ for a footballer, but I can bench 270lbs. So Im fine with your stat-line... That said, I could probably also only bench about 106kgs for 18 reps, and I played ruggers....

Are you guys machines or something? When I was actively boxing I could bench about 80kgs and that was me really pushing myself...we're talking 4 or 5 reps. My 1MR was 90 and I almost died.

Surely 80kg is a bit light? I was doing 90 at 17 and 120 at 19 and even though i havent done it in years I reckon i could still do 80
