4th Ashes Test Durham
First topic message reminder :
Half way there already.
will England finally change the batting around?
will the stop picking their favourites and give the obvious choices like Onions at home a chance? (Though Bresnan and broads bowling here would suggest not, show sweat I know).

Broad always seems to do this. He'll never get dropped imo, but whenever maybe people such as myself question his form and maybe a lack of wickets, he comes up with spells like he has produced today. Needs to pitch it up more as well to stay out there longer.

Ive criticized Broad a lot but, Ive never ever criticized his abilities as a bowling Kevin Pietersen. He bowled terribly vs South Africa last year, and the stats will show he took a Michelle against us.

Well played Broad.
But we all know what last wicket Aussies can do.
Fancy this kingr?

Yorkers seem to work almost without fail on tailenders... just aim straight for the stumps and you'll get your man sooner or later.

BROAD AGAIN!!!
Lyon bowled for 8 and Stuart Broad has his 5-for in this innings and a 10-wicket haul for the match!
Absolutely outstanding performance!

Trebel - Its over mate. The second Clarke failed it became a formality. I feel incredibly sorry for him, its Clarke or bust, and that must way incredibly heavily on his mind

Warner, Watson and Hughes have all shown they can perform at times too. Just a shame they can't do it as a cohesive line-up.mystiroakey wrote:Graf- its not all about clarke mate. Harris and Rogers are coming out of this mighty well.

If England are going to finish this today, they're going to have to spin Bird or Siddle out.

Re: 4th Ashes Test Durham
Clarke is still the KingPin, Rogers, Warner, and to a degree Smith have all shown something workable, but it isnt a co-incidence that the only Test in which Clarke showed vintage form is the only one they didnt lose. Still Clarke or bust remains

The tms aussie fancies them beating England.
To be fair it is only 78.
It's in the balance as king says.

Seventy six needed. These last wickets have been hard to prise out , but surely it will come eventually...
Siddle doesn't want to expose Bird to Broad.
Gone ! Ashes Victory

Re: 4th Ashes Test Durham
The Aussie cursed is own side there.
England have won the series but as boycott says they are not playing well with the bat.
If they don't improve they could lose down under. If they start to bat well it will be even.
England really need to sort the batting out.
And the bowling destroyed Aussie in the end and was impressive.

In the end, a very comfortable 74 run win for England, thanks to one of those magic spells from that man Stuart Broad!.

Re: 4th Ashes Test Durham
For it to be even Australia will have to start showing they can win games. It's been seven months without a win for them now, that dents morale and also self belief.trebellbobaggins wrote:The Aussie cursed is own side there.

England start batting well then it is very much their series to lose down under.

Re: 4th Ashes Test Durham
This is why I defended Broad earlier on in the series. He was bowling well and fulfilling his role without getting many wickets but we all knew that when he clicked (and he would, others' doubts seem to fuel him) he would do this. He's a match winner, none of Jimmy's consistency but he can be unplayable

Great stuff! Lovely to finish it with a day to spare as I'm off on hols in the morning.
My man of the match is Broad with honourable mentions to Harris, Rogers and Bell.
Enjoy the Oval Test, guys. Hope Mikey Holding doesn't spoil it for anyone!
