2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
First topic message reminder :
Four days left of the transfer window and still Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle still aren't moving quickly. The Bale deal still hasn't gone through, there is still speculation that Real Madrid may go back in for Suarez and Arsenal could break the transfer record. Tottenham have also decided to sign everybody.
Available at the moment seems to be a list of the players who were the best in the world five years ago:
Kaka
Fernando Torres
Samuel Eto'o (until yesterday)

I'm not saying Spurs are better than Chelsea were then, but Chelsea then is not world's apart from Spurs now. The season before the takeover, I seem to remember a mad race for the 4th champions league spot, with Chelsea scraping it, probably a familiar story to anyone who supports Spurs

We were 3rd for a long time that season then Newcastle leaped over us and we just fought off Liverpool on the last day. Sounds nothing like a recent Spurs season.......
Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread is continued...again
Being in the top 4 all season long, finishing 4th sounds like a typical Spurs season .. just the wrong season where the CL winners managed to finish 5th

Anyway back to my earlier point, unless success is finishing 4th (Arsenal fans nod), Chelsea were reliant on the oil money for real success (titles, CL etc)

I don't think Chelsea excelled at all until the money came in and their league finishes weren't any better than Tottenhams on the whole.
If Buttner goes out on loan I hope that means there's been some movement on the Baines deal rather than Fabio deputising for Evra.

I'm just leaving the Celtic game, hearing Alexander Buttner is supposed to be signing on loan for a year, not sure how much truths in it, Izaguirre has been linked to Everton as a possible Baines replacement though so this could be the start of a mini player merry go round

Did you enjoy your visit to Dundee? No one enjoys visiting Dundee. Buttner will be a good signing for Celtic if it goes through, he's much better than Mulgrew.Kay Fabe wrote:I'm just leaving the Celtic game, hearing Alexander Buttner is supposed to be signing on loan for a year, not sure how much truths in it, Izaguirre has been linked to Everton as a possible Baines replacement though so this could be the start of a mini player merry go round

He wouldn't really be challenging Mulgrew though, LB seems to be a last resort for Mulgrew, CB is his best position but due to how great his delivery is from Free Kicks Lennon generally tries to fit him in anywhere if he can.
Awck I don't mind Dundee, had many a good party up there after the football

Another attacking midfielder, even with Moses leaving that is far too many, surely one has to go (Mata) or one on loan (Schurlle or De Bruyne?)

Chelsea will soon have a monopoly on attacking midfielders. Wonder if Jose will revert to 4-6-0 this season, like Spain at Euro 2012?

What happens once Moses and Atsu come back off of their loan? The players currently there are hardly old.

I thought Chelsea would do this last year before they loaned out De Bruyne and decided to barely use Marin.Duty281 wrote:Chelsea will soon have a monopoly on attacking midfielders. Wonder if Jose will revert to 4-6-0 this season, like Spain at Euro 2012?

Marin, Moses and Atsu out on loan now.
I could to an extent understand the Willian signing although I maintain that was more to a prove a point to spurs but signing Atsu seems utterly pointless and he barely played for Porto as it was.
Mourinho isn't happy it seems unless he's throwing money about, he couldn't hack it as Inter because he had to stick with the same squad and at Madrid no amount of money could stop Barcelona getting the better of them.

So by next year, assuming nobody gets sold, Chelsea will have:
Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Schurlle, De Bruyne, Willian, Marin, Atsu, Moses for the same three positions.

That's going to cause the end of Mourinho I think. There's having options and then there's that.Crimey wrote:So by next year, assuming nobody gets sold, Chelsea will have:

If they're looking to offload I would happily have Mata, Hazard, Oscar or De Bruyne at Old Trafford seeing as we don't seem to like Shinji playing muchThe Special Juan wrote:That's going to cause the end of Mourinho I think. Demichelis is basically a City player after Alderweireld signed for Atletico. Not sure about this, not blessed with pace & certainly best days behind him.
If we can get Obertan to Forest, we may go for Tom Ince. Feel sorry for Forest, if that's true.

Isco showing why Ozil should be dropped, regardless of speculation. Phenomenal talent and only room for one of them.Fernando wrote:You forgot to add Ozil to the list of dropped people
Obviously City wanted Pepe, appears Demichelis is not the first option but they urgently needed a defender in.

Demichelis makes sense really, he was a key part of Pellegrini's Malaga side and £4.2 million is small change for City and he's hardly going to be playing a lot.

Good business by Atletico. Get Demichelis on a free in the summer, sell him for £4.2m only a couple of months later.

This time though, it wasn't to negotiate a transfer away from the club - though he admitted West Ham were interested - it was to look for sales of his own on Oxford Street.

He wasn't on the bench today, but I'm still surprised, even with Moses coming in, Liverpool are still quite low on attacking options, particularly off of the bench. Don't think Borini is particularly good, but it's always handy to have somebody with fresh legs and attacking instinct come off of the bench.
Think him going off loan, being replaced with a player coming in on loan is probably the signal that his Liverpool career is over. Rodgers obviously likes him and still can't find a place for him.
Sunderland continue to sign players with very little PL experience.

Does he possess attacking instincts then? Complete guff and a total waste of money.Crimey wrote:He wasn't on the bench today, but I'm still surprised, even with Moses coming in, Liverpool are still quite low on attacking options, particularly off of the bench.
