Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
I think the Weegeis will edge it.
Although I think our starting pack is a bit better than the Scots', and we all know that hoary old cliché about packs winning games, I'm worried that the real disparity between the two teams lies in the backlines, where we are missing too many classy players... blah blah blah... excuses, excuses, excuses...
Stop!
Hammer-time!
That just makes it all the more vital that we true believers SUFTUM!!
Glasgow to go down by 40+.

Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
I know theres inexperience in the backs. But we have known who all would be missing (bar Trimble), and we've just had 8 weeks of uninterrupted training.
I'd like to think Anscombe has this backline capable of a lot better than we saw last week.
We need things to fall into place tonight. Its not like we've been hit with unforeseen circumstances.

On to far happier matters, are people excited for tonight? This has all the makings of a cracker - the best match of the week, potentially.

Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
Yeah, it's gonna be a tough game- I think it might just be one of those games that's decided by refereeing interpretations though. Especially in terms of the scrum. Should be very close. Not sure either side is really going to get the backlines flying with the fluency they'll both reach later in the season. Lot of eyes on Paddy Jacksons place kicking for us.IanBru wrote:On to far happier matters, are people excited for tonight? I wish it was four hours forward so I was on the way to the ground, instead of trying to explain Celtic Rugby to a bunch of English wingnuts on the HEC thread

I've given up, Notch, I don't actually believe that they have any desire to understand, and much like the PRL, barely a one seems to get that compromise has to be on both sides!Notch wrote:Yeah, it's gonna be a tough game- I think it might just be one of those games that's decided by refereeing interpretations though. Fes, hope all goes well at the reading room.
Asbo, will be Alba-ing too. Toonie seems to be really targeting this one for a win. I subscribe to the belief that we missed a home play off because of our very poor start to the season NOT because we went easy on the MFL and missed TBP's. Seems the 4% muppetman wants to put Ulster eight points behind us early on. If things go aft agley we could end up with at 10 and Vernon at 12. I predict Warriors by 10.

Wow, what a frantic & hectic start.
Also a high tackle that close to the line? Expected more then a penalty...

Does it matter how close to the line if it wasn't cynical?
Great start from Glasgow. Great scrum from Ulster! Good to see PJ get one over!

You could argue that Jackson hadn't be taken high he might have a) scored or b) put in a try scoring pass.
Very enjoyable game so far. It's like all 30 players have downed a can of red bull before trotting out!

I get you. I didn't think it was as clear cut as that. But then again I am an Ulster fan!
We certainly look a lot more urgent than last week.
But then again, the burgers at Ravenhill look a bit more urgent than we did last week!

That's twice in the space of a minute that a tackled Ulster player has popped the ball out despite being tackled & a ruck being formed...

Ryan Grant is having real problems with Declan Fitzpatrick at the scrum. After the second scrum he had a word with the ref and since then he keeps going down under pressure from Fitzpatrick.

Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
Artful,
It was very strange because there was ahuge delay between the penalty being awarded and then the booing. I thought there must have been something occuring off camera.
Very un-Ravenhillish.
I hope it does not recur!
