Terrible kick from Jackson.
And terrible yellow card call from the ref. we've hardly conceded a penalty this half, and a yellow card?

Tbh no. Stupid play yes. But not in a dangerous place. Our discipline has been very good this half, with a low count, especially considering how one sided the game has been. Seemed unwarranted.

It was cynical play.

Indeed, MrsP, like Spartans even, altho both were eventually overrun! Nonetheless, the Weege had to, with a far more bullish and direct game from UlsterMrsP wrote:How in the name of all that is wonderful did we lose that?

Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
Wow, what a crazy ending! I think Gordon Reid deserves a big mention for that try, he consistently impresses me when he plays for Glasgow and his mini break at the end there set up the try. But great hands by Jackson and DTH did a bloody good job to break tackles in his break. Epic 27 mins of defence only for Paddy jackson to miss the penalty.
Bad luck Ulster, this game felt like Scotland vs Ireland in the 6N all over again. Ulster players dropping the ball for certain try's, Glasgow defending for a full 27 mins.. weird game, but exciting none the less.

Congrats, Glasgow
Gutted. We played the better rugby on the night, but some poor finishing, silly errors, and weak defence for the try, cost us. Fair play to Glasgow's great defence, and fighting spirit through to the winning try.

I was especially disappointed with Luke Marshall tonight. Shown glimpses of why he is so highly rated, but messed up at key moments. That dropped ball.. he was nearly in for a certain try. I hate to say it, as I rate Luke so highly, but Olding deserves the shirt when he is back. Hopefully he will take the challenge and improve though.

Great win for us but as I alluded to last week, must be done serious questions being asked as to why Barclay was not offered a new contract. Would swap him for Holmes and Vernon right now.
Well done Jedi on the try. Glasgow through and through!

A couple of seasons ago we seemed to do that in most of our matches.
If you live by the "last minute Pienaar pen" you can't really complain when you die by the last second "Sweatie try!"

A vital try at the end. Hardly an 8 pointer at this stage of the season. But that is 3 extra away points that we don't have to earn elsewhere!

Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
They did. As disappointed as I am in the missed opportunities, Marshall, and Allen, played some good rugby, but for the errors. Allen's fumble has nothing to excuse it, but Luke's was a bit trickier to gain control. I think it actually rebounded off a Glasgow player back to him, and that's were it was lost. Not really sure though.Rory_Gallagher wrote:Yep. Craig Gilroy, Andrew Trimble or Tommy Bowe on that wing and it was try time. Shocking from Allen. I suppose what we have to remember is this is still very much second string Ulster teams and whilst our opponents might not be quite full strength either we have some very big players to come back including our entire first choice front row of Court, Best and Afoa. But this result really has to draw a line because we need momentum now and straight wins until Tigers come to Ravenhill.Munchkin wrote:They did. That's an unbelievable result really. Astonishingly dreadful.
Given the territory, possession and clear cut try chances we had- I would have been furious and devastated had Glasgow got a losing bonus point out of the game. The final result is just- beyond belief.

That was entirely due to yer man sneaking an extra five yards when the referees back is turned. Maximum respect for the kicker, but personally have no problem with fans booing for foul play. He won't be complaining- he knows what he did the rascal!AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:I cannot think of a better riposte to the earlier booing

True, and possibly more opportunities would have came with any of those 3 on the wing. Trimbs is out for up to another 5 weeks though. Thought big Nick, and Wilson played well. I'm also impressed with Porter. Needs to work a bit on his passes though, but hopefully that will come. Having said that, we can look forward to the return of RP. Herring also had a good game.Artful_Dodger wrote:Craig Gilroy, Andrew Trimble or Tommy Bowe on that wing and it was try time. Shocking from Allen. Re: Ulster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors, 13 September
Firstly, we threw away that game, and thats very bad, and ultimately, the scoreline is all that matters. Boo Ulster, yadda yadda...
Now, does nobody else agree that ignoring the dropped balls at crucial times, we played reasonably well?
In terms of general play I thought Allen and Wilson were great, and that Herring, Doyle, Porter and McIlwaine were a lot more solid than I previously thought.
We dominated.
But we didnt win, and that's not good enough on nights like tonight.
But its not like its a team falling apart.
Its a team which was a few silly drops away from a comfortable win.
No?

Ulster fans showed their class when DTH went into the post. Proper applause when he got up unharmed. One thing those guys know is how to behave at Rugby match.

We have the odd eejit like everywhere but it really is not the done thing to make any noise at Ravenhill when any kicker is kicking.

No need for thanks. Been to Ravenhill numerous times and win or (usually) lose I have always held you lot in the highest regard. That said if you don't win a game before Halloween I won't be too upsetMrsP wrote:Thank you Dot!

Was not there tonight, but could tell from the reaction to the DTH incident that the concern from the "opposition" crowd was properly meant!
