Some good pre-match reading from Edinburgh's defence coach - I really like this guy actually. He's saying the right things and I think he's going to be a really good coach for this Edinburgh team

RDW, for the Welsh observers, what % of your posts were on topic insightful comments and what were comments on soap dodging/red trousers?

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
Agree that is a very disappointing backline....... Michel at FB has hardly played in any of the big games, Marty at what 31 is well past his best days as a fringe French international and ex Sarries/Wasps Haughton played one game for Guernsey I believe is only on a year "cover" contract. Ironically one of Hooks best games for Perpignan was last week at 15 so its disappointing that Allan who had impressed the Italy training camp isn't starting at flyhalf.whocares wrote:quite a strong front 5 from Perpignan...as for 6 to 15 I have my doubts...

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
Sorry I stand corrected it was Jersey not Guernsey but Haughton is another player who at 32 is well past his best.
Its ironic that the accusations that the Pro12 squads don't put their best sides out until the HC rounds seem to be the opposite with some French sides

I'd like to think all of my posts are insightful comments, but in reality it is a pretty low % probably!Weegie Wizard wrote:RDW, for the Welsh observers, what % of your posts were on topic insightful comments and what were comments on soap dodging/red trousers?
Slightly more optimistic to hear that is a weakened team - is anyone able to compare it with what their strongest team is to see how many changes there are?

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
Agree ASBO as its a home game you would have thought they would be looking for 5 points. The word on the terrace last week is that the HC is not on their agenda this season which is annoying the fan base, the management view is if they win then they would be back in it and if they don't then they will put shadow sides out thereafter and concentrate on the league.

Bit surprised to see Grant at openside. Watson would be a better bet imo. Lets face it Grant has been next to useless this season so far.

Intersting that Glaws have already given up against Munster by resting a number of key players.

This is getting ridiculous - the English and French complain that we rest player for the HK, then they go and rest players in the HK for their league games??

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
Not that I'm complaining like...
Of course they could argue they have to rest players so they do well in the league and qualify for next season...only to rest players again during the competition they rested players in to qualify for in the first place....!
We've got Cloucester at home after Perpignan - if they lose to Munster this round and we manage to beat Gloucester at home next round then the away leg to Gloucester could become a lot more winnable.

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
I’m not getting too excited about any perceived weakness of having Hook at 10 instead of 15 – this guy is still a vastly experienced, multi-capped Grand Slam winning British and Irish Lion.
And we have Harry Leonard.

Re: HK Round 2 - Perpignan vs Edinburgh
well they are not starting with a 2nd choice backline on purpose. obligatory resting of french internationals (lopez, guitoune) is taking its toll as well as injuries or suspensions (mafi) and their depth has never been so great there anyway. Michel is actually a good fullback, sent Porical to the bench last season.RDW_Scotland wrote:This is getting ridiculous - the English and French complain that we rest player for the HK, then they go and rest players in the HK for their league games??

Think Leonardi is more of a 6/8 and was only shoehorned in at 7 on his previous outing because everyone else was broken, but could be wrong.

Right, so Tomas Leonardi and Joaquin Dominguez start, Ollie Atkins and Lee Jones to the bench. Anyone got a stream for this one? Please? I'll get FES to give you free legal advice for a year.

F@#k me they went to the TMO for a missed penalty?!? They really need to sort this out. The TMO gave it despite the touch judge under the outside post not.
