Re: Super League Homepage
Smith isn't a world class 13, he was horrendous defensively during the AI.
Bit of a problem position for the AB's 12/13, if Nonu and Smith get injured they'll struggle.

Ben Smith / Saili the only real options there for them at the moment and I see them as the future partnership. To be fair, most countries would be in the similar position if the likes of JDV, Tuilagi, Fofana got injured

Disagree Bathite, if we lose Tuilagi we're sorted as we have Tomkins......

Re: Super League Homepage
A few of the top countries seem to have players who can move between the back 3 and centres, its something England completely lack.
NZ have Smith, Australia have AAC, SA have Pieterson and Engelbrecht, France had Rougerie and they tried to do the same with Fofana (badly), the Welsh have North .. all can do a job in the centre if they are a back 3 guy or vice versa
We don't seem to produce that kind of player who has the skills and size to play centre but the speed of a back 3 player

Re: Super League Homepage
My effort:
1. Ayerza (Corbs lack of game time)
2. BdP
3. Jones (awful since new laws)
4. Retalick
5. FvdM (he's been unreal, Whitelock close)
6. Alberts (SOB close)
7. Louw (Don't rate Hooper at all)
8. Read (standout)
9. FdP (fantastic, like he's never been away)
10. Cruden (so good, better than Carter imo)
11. Savea (North close)
12. Fofana
13. JD
14. Smith (Habana close)
15. Folau (pure dynamite!)

Bam, I'd argue we don't produce backs with any skills! Basics are so bad, it's very similar to football, were obsessed with producing athletes rather than rugby players

I love that most of you picked Jones in your world XV and also said he was the best TH option available and now i've got him you all ping him in predictions.

I rate Deacon, but doesn't fit into my gameplan. If I was you I would play him and O'Connell ahead of Parling.

Really, just saw it. Do you reckon you might slip and go backwards a little bit in the league, or carry on the form?

Carry on just fine. He stepped down from coaching months ago and our form has picked up. Hatley and Booth always been credited with the work on the forwards.

I didn't realise that. Fair enough, still hope that Bath can make something out of some the English lads in the squad

Gold credited for the signings in the off season, which have been very very good. Concern is that Louw will consider going back home with him

I wouldn't worry too much. Louw doesn't seem like someone to jump ship too soon. Might go after the RWC.

Re: Super League Homepage
Bath message board on rugbynetwork is going into meltdown. There is talk on there that Bath have been caught out as being in breach of the salary cap and Gold is basically carrying the can for them. I think it's unlikely, but an interesting theory nonetheless.

Am I right in thinking 8 is the most obvious place for me to look at? Getting poor ratings on cronje. It's a crucial position and Faletau is world class and proven with lydiate. Thoughts?

Not a bad back up in injury situation, but would struggle against the top specialist 10s on here.

Re: Super League Homepage
If Laidlaw plays 10, he needs a 9 who can take the pressure if defence off him so he has more time to make decisions as decision making at 10 isn't his strength. That means an attacking 9 really
