Broner Maidana
First topic message reminder :
Surprised there hasn't been more chat about this weekend's fight between Broner & Maidana. Watching the All Access show and Broner comes across even worse than he normally does. An odious little twerp. I can't help but think his antics outside the ring will catch up with him eventually.
In the meantime how do we see this fight going. Will Broners skill be too much for Maidana's power? I suspect it will as. Points losses to the likes of Alexander and Khan don't give me a lot of hope for Maidana. Another carefully selected opponent for Broner. He's been calling out Manny and that's a fight I'd definitely like to see.

Re: Broner Maidana
Not everything on Youtube is legal and the content on there breaks copyright law regularly. I know an artist who has had their music uploaded to Youtube illegally and they are finding it incredibly difficult to have Youtube take it down. They set up as many road blocks as they can from what I have been told.
My feeling is that the likes of HBO and Showtime don't mind leaving the fights up on Youtube after they have finished showing them which might be a few weeks later. Arum is strict about his fights being uploaded directly after the event and has legally threatened some of the websites that do it.
Spotify is worse for artists. Spotify only paid out $9,000 to Daft Punk for 'Get Lucky' a song which has probably been the global hit of 2013 and has surpasses 100m Spotify listens.

Re: Broner Maidana
One thing I will say for Broner, he admitted that the better guy won and said he would be up for an immediate rematch. Both to his credit.
I know it would be pretty hard for him to claim he was jobbed, but most fighters make excuses straight after a defeat (Froch or Haye, for example). And to be interested in a rematch after getting a pasting shows hes got stones.

Broner showed a lot of heart in the fight, he was in a bad way in the 2nd and fought on with shaky legs and instinct for 4 or 5 rounds before he got whacked again in the 8th. He fought a horrible fight and was taught a very hard lesson. Hopkins said in a post fight interview that Broner shortened his career by at least 3 fights by taking that kind of beating.
Taking about interviews there is an hilarious one from Paulie Malinaggi, he starts off being very respectful but is then reminded of Broner saying he would have beaten Paulie easy if he had taken him seriously. Paulie turns into a character out of The Soprano's and is giving it the Italian big banana. Very funny.

This loss might turn out to be the making of him. Providing he ditches his mini Mayweather routine and just be himself.

That'll knock years off him -- he took an absolute pasting.
He could have been a top lightweight but went after the money; he's never a welterweight.

Worried about Broner... It will be tough to market him after this loss, as beatable A-holes aren't really attractive propositions. he also has five kids, and you just know he didn't mind signing off on exorbitant child support fees...

How/why give him credit for asking for the chance to win his belts back when, pre-fight, he was so arrogant as to not put a rematch clause in the contract?
If he wants a rematch he should get 20% max and it should be in Argentina, he's nothing more than a challenger.
That way we might get a ref to even call the fight fair since out of his last 2 fights he could have had 4 or 5 points deducted but didn't get one.

Re: Broner Maidana
Because he took a right beating and there are easier ways back to winning a belt than rematching Maidana?
