Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread Part 'something'
First topic message reminder :
Boring game but good result for all the top teams around these two really. Difference between Arsenal winning the league and not is a world class striker, because in tight games like these in the big games a world class striker will finish the chance Giroud had. He's been excellent this season but misses far too many to deliver a title. That's what makes Suarez/Agueor and RVP last season the difference in the end.

We really don't deserve to have conceded three, just another game where one mistake blows us up.

Cissokho has come in for Flannagan but the same team for Liverpool otherwise.
Glad we didn't switch to 3 at the back.

Cazorla>Ozil.
Hope we take heart from that rather than disappointment from the way it ended.
Although having around about every player injured is a problem

Cazorla was quietly one of the best players in the league last season, but he has been quite poor recently. Encouraging performance today from him, was motm for me

Dominated at home by Fulham. Fulham. F*ckin Fulham.
Abysmal just abysmal. We didn't even deserve the goal we got. One point from Sunderland and Fulham is just awful. I don't want Hughton to go, I just don't want him to be our manager
God we missed Jonny Howson. Hurry up and get better Jonny

He bossed that game today.
Fulham are still not very good, all over the shop at the back. Just for some reason after getting some luck and going 1-0 up we didn't go for the kill, we tried to play on the counter which don't do very well.
Pants pants pants, and Ipswich ruined my accy. Disastrous day

Could be worse, you could have one centre back and be in the bottom three.

Think Liverpool were very unfortunate not to get at least a point out of the game, hardest City have been pushed at home all season and Johnson and Sterling both had excellent chances to put Liverpool level.
Really gutted about that, would have been an excellent result had we snatched the point. Promising performance in that the Manchester City steamroller couldn't get crush Liverpool as they did other sides. Think City are on to be champions, definitely favourites, then Chelsea, then Arsenal followed by Liverpool I feel. This was a big test and I think while Liverpool didn't get the 3 points, they showed they are capable of holding their own.
Bring on Chelsea, hoping for three points, think we'll get one.

Lee Mason really is an idiot.
Felt sorry for Liverpool and Suarez.
Liverpool deserved at least a point.
Credit where its due, Palace who have IMO a mid table Championship team are now out the drop zone. Tony Pulis really is doing a great job there.
Everton 0-1 Sunderland. Wow just wow. Always one team that bluddy f*ks up you're accumulator!!!!

Villa are a strange on for me. I wonder what the fans expectations are? Mid table and comfortable safety I suppose?
I know a couple of Villians and they'll openly admit that they're pretty crap and they never expect them to beat anybody, pretty depressing stuff really.
I haven't seen that much of them to make an assessment but are they playing well? Are they progressing? Is Lambert really the man? Is Randy Lerner that bothered anymore.

We're not playing well freek.
He has signed some pish poor players.
Ok, we're not going to get world class players, but could have got some better ones than he signed.
Team on the whole is pretty poor.
Tekkers has been off form since his injury.
Would we be mad to sack him olly, well we cant carry on with this.
Cannot win at home.
If we lose to Swansea h
sunderland A.
Then think he will go.
After that we have Arsenal h
Liverpool a.
Dont want to panic to much, as its only xmas, but it is very concerning.

For me, Villa and Norwich should hold fire until the end of the season. Im sure both will stay up fine, but the thing is there both clearly not going to progress under Lambert and Hughton respectfully.

Have to say, to a neutral, Hughton seems to be doing a better job at Norwich than Lambert is at Villa.

Will respond to each post individually
I agree that we will hold fire. There's no way we will sack Hughton, unless it becomes situation critical, in which case, much like under Roeder it was too late and we went down. I fear that might be the case this season. Hughton is getting through by the skin of his teeth, every time a "must win" game comes round, he seems to win it, which is fair enough in the short term, but in the long term it just papers over the cracks.
Luckily the neutral doesn't have to endure what we do every week.
Totally agree. Hughton took over a good squad, players that finished 12th in the Premier League under Lambert. The likes of Ruddy, Pilkington, Howson, Ryan Bennett are good players, heck Holty was too. Over the past two summers he's been given near enough £40 million to improve this squad, which in terms of players he has done (the likes of Fer, RVW, Hooper, Bassong are great signings). However the product on the pitch, and ultimately the results are worse. Much worse. We're afraid of teams. We can't beat the teams around us (this happened last season, and is happening again this year where we have either drawn or lost to Hull, Cardiff, Villa, Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea - none of those we have beat, only Hull and Sunderland were away as well, even Hull were down to 10 men for 70 mins!)
Lambert took over a sinking ship at Villa. He was tasked with shipping out players like Hutton, Dunne, Bent who were on ridiculous wages, and has had to replace them with bargain basement signings or youth players. Sure they're on a bad run at the minute, but it wasn't too long ago they were top 10 and everything was rosy. He'll turn it around again.

Fantastic day of PL football.
If you're a neutral of course!
Not quite as passionate as non-league football mind you, where a short trip up north turns into a scuffle, and your club chairman gets involved in a twitter slanging match, but ah well, it'll do.

Carlton Cole what a man! But he is not reliable enough. West Ham need another striker and fast or they could be in trouble.
Theo Walcott's first goal was just laughable goalkeeping.
His 2nd was a great header.
Podolski goal was brilliant.

Been a good couple of weeks for England players. Hart back in goal and playing well, Henderson and Sterling playing well for Liverpool, Walcott looking strong for Arsenal and Lallana and J-Rod impressing at St Mary's. Cleverley, Young and Welbeck have all shown signs of returning to form as well.

Rubbish, Stoke look a much better outfit than they did last year and he's starting to shape them into a different looking side. He's only been there a few months after years of Pulis and his distinctive style, it'll take time but already I think Stoke are a better team. Today was a freak result considering they were 1-0 up until the two red cards, which Hughes couldn't really have accounted for, especially as they were all 'nothing' fouls.
Before today they were only four points off of Southampton who are considered to be having an excellent season.

Nick picked 3 other sides for he drop two days ago and now after a 9 man side get a tonking he's tipping them for the trap door. A bit dramatic.

Some terrible refereeing today.
Also how nice would it been if ki had of just stayed on his feet and tapped the ball in, barely any contact and he could have easily stayed up.
Really wish that last man rule was changed.

Cardiff's defending was embarrassing, they gave Southampton so much time and space and deservedly got punished.
Craig Nooooooney looks class for Cardiff though. So happy there giving him a run in the side.
