Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
AWJ isn't a great op mate.
It's a lineout leader I've always thought you've missed, pack would be great with a leader alongside Davies/Lawes.
Others look at different things I guess but scrum in winter/poor conditions and lineout at all times is pretty key to getting good ball. You've got a belting team, lineout leader & good 10 and you'll be really hard to beat next season.
On the plus Domingo is training again

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
All opinions mate.
I know JSD is a very good winger but in reality him and Benjamin are currently Saxons level.
I'd have JSD a little ahead although Benjamin has bags of potential, he bagged a lot more AP tries than JSD in a poor team and moving to Tigers "could" be the making of him.
He could turn out to be an average winger who played in a poor team but he'll def get more ball at Tigers.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Comparing JSD and Benjamin is like trying to compare chalk and cheese. Although they play the same position they are poles apart in skillset and totally different players. JSD is a footballer with an eye for a gap and is an elusive runner. Benjamin is all pace and raw power and able to go through defenders as well as around them.
Who you would have depends on what you want from winger really and what suits your style of play better. Hard to say one is better than the other right now, they are just different.
Sorry for butting in!

No dramas Pete, all opinions.
Massive year for Benjamin coming up. He obviously has something as he's scored in a poor Worcester set up...England quality? I really don't know but he's something different to what we have.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
I've seen Benjamin live once for Worcester agaisnt Irish a couple of years back and he is a big powerful boy with some serious gas. Tiggers could be the making of him as he has to get more scoring opportunities there than at Worcester, so we will find out whether he is the real deal as a finisher or not.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
I hope Christian Wade comes through this season again - Lancaster obviously likes the looks of him and the conditions for SA are ideal for him.
Shame the Churchill Cup isnt on anymore, would have been good to see Benjamin in that!

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
His defence is outstanding which seems to be a requirement these days.
Always thought that was JSD's downfall, he generally looks fine in the AP but seems to make a big mistake every Saxon game. Very clever winger but you seem to be judged more on your frailties than your positives when it comes to England.
Benjamin is a Saxons regular, think he bagged a hat trick his last start.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
I think that's a big issue you've nailed just there Pooly. We have a tendancy in this country to focus on what players can't do rather than what they can.
I remember seeing an interview with BOD a couple of years back after he'd just regained form following a slump and he talked about having gained a different mindset to training and was now focusing more on really improving the bits of his game that he was good at and making sure he was ble to impose those on the pitch. Obviouslyy he still worked on weaknesses but not tot he same extent.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
I think Marland Yarde will be a very good winger. Similar to Benjamin, v.fast and strong. Yarde will have Ojo's spot in Irish side next season. Looking forward to seeing him in the u20's, gutted Anthony Watson is injured as he is a real talent, out till Novemeber though.

I was never sure about YArde until I saw him against Wales u20s - he's so fast and difficult to put down. Was good to see that he got a try for Irish on the last day of the season too!

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
he got 2 Chris!
I was unsure about him at first too. Think he was top scorer in the U20s 6 Nations.
No idea Pete, reckon the forwards coach will be sorted soon though.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
You need to re read the academy rules I think mate, as almost every player you have put in your junior academy should be in your senior academy.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have a listed senior academy squad of 20 players. Players who are in the senior academy must be under 22 years of age as of 1st September 2012 (therefore must have been born on or after 1st Septmber 1990). Players who are under the age of 20 (so born after 1st September 1992) AND are in the academy of the club that you are managing in real life, DO NOT need to be listed as senior academy players as part of your 20, but are available to you in this game and cannot be poached by other clubs without paying you a fee.
Should a player not listed in your 20 senior academy players, but part of the clubs academy in real life move clubs in real life, then you will have first option of promoting him to your listed senior academy. If you choose not to take this option he will become property of the club that he moves to in real life in this game.

Re: Northampton Saints Squad - Fantasty Rugby
Back up ten and more ball carrying options in the backrow.
When parisse is away who will carry in that backrow.
You have a really good side.
Would also say you need a back up ten as giteau aint going to last forever

Pogieter playing 6 for SA this week worth a buy and so is Chris made. He is 32 now but has been great in France for last few years and a much better player than when he played for ab's
